⚡Zelensky said he was disappointed because the Russians "didn't come running" to the summit at the West's call.

The Ukrainian leader believes that his "victory plan" will strengthen Kyiv's position and "force" Russia to take part in peace talks. He admitted that the plan was designed with the expectation of support from US President Joe Biden.

According to Zelensky, after the peace summit, the West saw that Russia does not intend to participate in the negotiations. According to the Ukrainian leader, Kyiv's partners expressed hope for the appearance of the Russian Federation at the second peace summit.

"Our Western partners said, 'We'll invite the Russians to a second summit, and they'll come running.' Well, now we have a second summit planned, and it doesn't look like they'll come running," Zelensky said in an interview with The New Yorker.

⚡The United States submitted a detailed proposal to resolve the issue of Türkiye's acquisition of Russian S-400 air-defense systems for F-35 jets.

The plan would allow Türkiye to formally keep the missiles on its territory but transfer their control to the United States.

The proposal suggests transferring the Russian S-400 systems to the US-controlled sector of Incirlik base in southern Türkiye.

The aim is to allow Türkiye to return to the F-35 fighter jet program.

Discussions appear to be at a more advanced stage than previously known. Both sides seem to desire a successful conclusion to these talks.

Türkiye's initial response is reportedly not positive, but discussions are expected to continue.

⚡The US is betting on South Korea to bail out it's crippled shipbuilding industry.

South Korean shipbuilding company Hanwha Ocean recently announced its acquisition of a former US Navy shipyard in Philadelphia. Besides the shipyard deal, valued at $100 million, Hanwha secured its first maintenance and repair contract with the US Navy.

The US shipbuilding industry has been mired in years-long delays and cost overruns. However, even with support from Asian firms, it could take the US years to close the gap with China in maritime power is stark numbers are anything to go by.

While China commands 40% of global commercial shipbuilding output, the US accounts for less than 1%.

Last year, China had orders for 1,794 large commercial ships, South Korea had 734, Japan had 587 – but the US had just five.

China had over 5,000 ocean-going commercial vessels in early 2023, while the US-flagged merchant fleet numbered only 177.
