Though nobody want an all out war in the ME, cuz the west will suffer for it by massive immigrants influx into western Europe, also disrupting major US allies in the ME.
But if push comes to shove the US will gladly take on any opportunities to impact a change in Iran, they've always been seeking for that, and currently now nobody can deterred or even stop them. Not even your darling Russia, US has kept them pre occupied in Ukraine, any weapon they have is for the Ukraine conflict and has none to spare.
This will be different from the fast Russian intervention in Syria, any Russia involvement in Iran would just be a safe face one without any major impact.
They feel they want to get engross in defending Iran, they US by extension supply massive cache and push Ukraine into a major offensive that force them to face one side..

Why Iran is piling up their stock of drones and cruise/ballistic missiles. Even these are not totally save from Isreal counter targeting.
Iran is cooked so also any major ME partner. Russia is preoccupied to come to anybody aid a position US has gladly placed them and something Isreal would be grateful for. China won't lift a finger, a bark from the US and they'll completely backoff. North Korea is not reliable, yes they can try to help but they have no credible channel to sustain any significant impact. US would completely capitalize on this in seeking for a regime change.
Iran should not pray for a Trump presidency. A Natanyahu and Trump combination will be a deadly blow as both sides has no pause button.

The Axis Powers now recognize the deficits and are closing the gap.

They should have had these years back, but they wanted complete independence and they were looking to build everything from scratch. Satellites, launch systems, software, everything.

These axioms guide my sympathy for the Iranians.
The mullahs were ill-equipped for the task at hand.
Ultimately, I hope a secular leadership assumes control of Persia.

For now, however, the incompetent mullahs are the friendlies in the ME and the Axis Powers should be a backstop to Iran and its affiliates.
