The Trump administration announced Friday it will restrict the ability of immigrants to travel to the United States from six countries. The government will curb the ability of citizens of Nigeria, Myanmar, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Sudan and Tanzania to get certain immigration visas, according to officials with the Department of Homeland Security and State Department, but it is not a blanket travel ban. The officials cited national security concerns in identifying those countries, saying those governments do not meet requirements for information-sharing and passport security. President Trump was expected to sign a proclamation approving the restrictions on Friday afternoon, and it will go into effect on Feb. 22. The announcement comes just over three years after Trump first announced he would impose a travel ban targeted several Muslim-majority nations. An altered version of that ban was later upheld by the Supreme Court, and travel from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, North Korea, Venezuela and Yemen is still restricted. The expanded ban is certain to be challenged in courts, and former diplomats have expressed confusion over the inclusion of Nigeria in particular, warning that restricting travel from some of those countries will harm American interests. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-administration-restricts-travel-from-nigeria-five-other-countries/ar-BBZwVxJ?li=BBnb7Kz |

A gang of eight drug dealers who peddled drugs on a Waltham Forest estate have been jailed for a total of over 30 years. The gang members including two Nigerians Harry and Collins Olabode, were sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, 9 June in relation to various drugs and firearms offences after a protracted investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Trident Central Gangs Unit. In July 2016 an investigation was launched by the Trident Area and Crime Command, after the officers ascertained that a local gang known as the 'Thatched House Thugs' were dealing Class A drugs on the Avenue Estate, E11 in Waltham Forest. During the course of the investigation it became apparent that residents were being severely, adversely affected and in one case, the gang had set up their base of operations in the flat of a local occupant against her will. The operation by Trident Central Gangs Unit led to a number of arrests in October 2016 and ultimately resulted in the following convictions; [A] Winston Male, 25, of St Albans Avenue, Newham was convicted of Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. [B] Christian McKay, 19, of Victoria Road, Waltham Forest was convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment. [C] Collins Olabode, 20, of Arrowsmith Path, Chigwell was convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and blackmail. He was sentenced to six years imprisonment. [D] Harry Olabode, 18, of Arrowsmith Path, Chigwell was convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and false imprisonment. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment. [E] Musa Streadwick, 18, of Atherton Road, Newham was convicted of false imprisonment and was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment. [F] Warren Thomas, 21, of Snowberry Close, Waltham Forest was convicted of the supply of Class A drugs and was sentenced to three years imprisonment. Two 17-year-olds from Newham, London were also each convicted of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, transferring prohibited articles into court and false imprisonment and were sentenced to four years each. Detective Sergeant Tom Rogerson, from Trident Area Crime Command, said: "This investigation shows that the Metropolitan Police Service will actively seek to target those involved in organised criminality and will strive to protect the innocent Londoners who are sometimes caught up in this type of activity. These sentences reflect the severity with which these cases are treated both by the police and by the courts. http://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/06/photos-gang-of-eight-drug-dealers.html?m=1 |

Hello nairalanders I need Help please Help me get this through to GTBank management I have been banking with GTBank itire surulere branch lagos for over 10 years now. I have several accounts with them including corporate and domicilliary accounts. I discovered early this year that GTBank has been charging my current account 1500 naira every month in the name of account maintenance amongst other fraudulent charges of which i complained to their customer service but nothing was done about it till today. Secondly i also tried to do Internet banking I discovered my account has been locked I complained to their customer service they promised to unlocked it but that has not still been done for a while now. But I have done my BVN in Nigeria and i have used the account while in lagos without any restrictive so I don't understand why it should be locked. Thirsty i also tried to use my GTB naira Mastercard abroad via ATM, POS and Online it didn't work. I know I have plenty of funds in there and the card is not expired or in active. I complained they said I need to activate my card in Nigeria before i can use it. I know very well that I activated my card before traveling but they said they couldn't do anything about it. I have called my account Officer too several times he couldn't do anything about all what I listed above even their GTBank connect customer service can't even help. Please why is GTBank trying to rip me off at this time? Why is GTBank trying to frustrate me now? Why is GTBank trying to leave me stranded abroad? Is it their new policy to frustrate their loyal customers now? As it is now I can't use my GTB naira Mastercard to purchase anything here not even to withdraw at the ATM. I cant do funds Transfer. Please am stranded abroad and GTBank is responsible for this. Please help me get this across to GTBank management. Something has to be done urgently. This is bad for their image. I use to believe GTBank was the best in Nigeria. Please Front page this is urgent Thank you NL Lalasticala Seun Mynd44 |
