NASS:ADDING SALT TO INJURY. . One begins to wonder what sort of political players or Leaders are we having in Nigeria if the representatives who claim to represent our interest appear to be the ones aggravating our unpleasant situations even in A TIME LIKE THIS. As patriotic Citizens or Nigerians, we have gone to the poll to cast our votes to the Candidate of our choice for quality representation. The primary duty of our Legislators is to enact law or sponsor a bill that will make life more meaningful or improve d living conditions of Nigerians or the Electorates. To my greatest amazement, our representatives I mean the Nigerian Lawmakers are insensitive to the plight of the people who voted them into office. Rather than empathizing with Nigerians over the harshness or hardship ocassioned by the economic recession or economic downturn, they chose to adding salt to injury I mean worsen our conditions of living. These ungrateful Lawmakers went ahead to approved a recommendation of a certain amount of money(tax) on PMS(petrol). This proposed tax will negatively affect the petroleum Marketers, which in turn unpleasantly affect Nigerians who buy this products for various purposes. The excruciating pains being experienced by the masses or the public consequent upon the hike in petrol in the past is still biting hard on us and now, these heartless parliamentarians are bent on bringing more pains. We heard that d money to be generated from this draconian tax policy will be expended or used to fund road project. But I want to ask,is there no other source to get money for road construction or repair? What about d budget of work, power and housing ministry? Is part of the budget not meant for road project? What about d looted money recovered by EFCC?Cant we take from this ill-gotten money to fund our road project? Must the Lawmakers inflict pains on Nigerians on the reason of funding our roads?why cant our Legislators legislate on things that will cushion the adverse effects of untold hardship currently being faced by Nigerians. Is this act not capable of arousing the indignation or fury of the masses? Hope the already ailing Nigerian economy or economic activity will not paralyzed if this their dream eventually come true. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)) Leaders must seriously resist this proposed increase in the pump price of petrol,it must not b implemented at all.The Leaders must not compromise their stand on this issue.Nigerians are not happy with all the national Assembly men with this their new move. The present price of petrol has done more harms than good to the people. What has the FG done with the money realized from the increment of petroleum products?Any attempt to hike the pump price of petrol will cause an industrial action or strike of workers nation wide which will affect the already sicked economy negatively. It is my hope that the Senators or representatives will reverse or halt this proposed harsh recommendations to avert looming crises.we expect a better welfare or laws that will add positive value on Nigerians, not adding salt to injury.God shall take control. Finally, there are strong indications that the 218 schoolgirls abducted six months ago in Chibok, Borno State, by the violent Boko Haram sect may be released on Monday following a ceasefire agreement the sect negotiators reached with the Federal Government. The Government, through the Nigerian military, had on Friday said that it had agreed to a ceasefire with the heartless terrorists group and that the Chibok girls would soon be released. The deal was announced by the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh. Nigerian military has struggled to defeat Boko Haram which began attack against Nigeria since 2009. The President’s Principal Secretary, Hassan Tukur, told BBC Focus on Africa that an agreement to end the Boko Haram hostilities had been reached after talks with the violent group. He said, “The Boko Haram members have assured us that they have the girls and that they will release them. I am cautiously optimistic.” He said the agreement was reached after one month of negotiations in Saudi Arabia. The negotiation was said to have been headed by the Chadian President Idriss Deby. Tukur said Boko Haram announced a unilateral ceasefire on Thursday and the government had responded. Tukur and Danladi Ahmadu, who calls himself the Secretary-General of Boko Haram, told VOA’s Hausa service that the abducted girls would be released on Monday in Chad. The girls are alive, “in good condition and unharmed,” Ahmadu said. President Goodluck Jonathan has faced strong criticism over a deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, with villages in the North-East Borno State inaccessible due to the threat from Boko Haram. The group had demanded the release of detained extremists in exchange for the schoolgirls. The Defence Headquarters have directed all commanders to stop offensive against the Boko Haram sect. The Chief of Defence Staff said he had directed his officers to comply with the ceasefire agreement. Badeh said, “A ceasefire agreement has been concluded between the Federal Government and the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal Jihad (Boko Haram).” Badeh added, “Without any prejudice to the outcome of our three days interactions, and the conclusions of this forum, I wish to inform this audience that a ceasefire agreement has been concluded between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Allul Sunna Li Daawa Waj Jihad. “I have accordingly directed the service chiefs to ensure immediate compliance with this development in the field.” Hope this is true#
