The distribution of fake Covid-19 Antigen quick test kits has alarmed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

In a NAFDAC public alert distributed to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja, the anti-drug agency sounded the alarm.

The agency claims that Health Canada informed NAFDAC about the fake BTNX Incorporated COVID-19 fast antigen test kits. Health Canada was stated by NAFDAC as saying that the phoney test kits were distributed online by a company called Healthful Plus in 25-pack cartons without the necessary authorization.

NAFDAC said the packaging of the counterfeit kits resembles the authentic BTNX Inc. products in colour and typeface and uses the BTNX Incorporated. It said that the device identifier has “COV-19C25”, but also has several key differences, adding that it was labelled as manufactured by “Health Advance Inc.” instead of BTNX Inc.

The agency stated that on the packaging Health Advance was identified as the “Official Canadian Distributor of the counterfeit products”. It pointed out that the products had a claim of endorsement by government authorities, such as Health Canada.

A 49-year-old man, Ganiyu Shina of Oguji Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta, arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for bathing with blood at a community river, in Kotopo area of Odeda Local Government, said he was instructed to do so by a herbalist.

A viral video captures the moment a Lagos bus conductor refused collecting the new naira note for fear of being cheated.

The lady who had boarded the commercial bus gave the bus conductor the recently redesigned naira notes which he rejected.

According to the man, he doesn't recognize the money yet and can't collect it; he insisted that the lady gives him the old one he knows or get off his van.

Other passengers on the bus had interceded and urged the conductor to collect the money as it is already in circulation.

At a point, he collected the cash from the lady to go consult with his other colleagues on the authenticity of the note.
