Not less than 50 people were shoot dead at Oba-ofemmili community in Awka -North Local Government
Area of Anambra State, when some youths, suspected to be cultists unleash attack on churchs , killing over 50 christan,and inflicted machete wounds on some christian...the attacked churchs were
Assemblies of God, Deeper Life, Winners, Catholic church,
The attackers also went on rampage, looting and
burning churches in the community. Some of the
churches burnt include Assemblies of God Church,
Grace of God Church, Deeper Life Bible Church,
Winners Church, Christ Holy Church, St. Paul’s
Catholic Church and another pentecostal church.
The assailants, according to the victims, attacked the
worshippers with dangerous weapons, shooting
sporadically and wounding several people. They were
said to have invaded no fewer than seven churches,
burning and destroying everything within their reach.
A two-year old baby was among the victims.
It was gathered that trouble started in the community
over disagreement between the Christians and the
idol worshippers on the cultural night masquerade, a
local fetish cult opposed by Christians in the area.
A victim of the incident, who gave his name as Mr
Sunday Aliuba, said they were in the church when the
miscreants stormed their church, armed with guns
and machetes. He said they swooped on d
congregation and inflicted machete wounds on them,
causing stampede as people struggled to escape from the church ..
An eye witness & also a victim from the incident , explain how the attack unfolded, “ Oba-Ofemili and
the Christians had an agreement that the night
masquerades will not start by 9pm, and we were
having our programmes according to the rules. But on
Monday night, I was at the crusade when we heard
that the pagans will burn down all the churches.
Around 11pm, they started shooting sporadically into
the air, causing everybody to shiver. Around 1.00am
on Tuesday, they stormed the church, and razed down
the parish priest’s house and pursued everybody in
the church. We hid under the staircase and under the pews.
“In self-defence, we pounced on some of them. As it
got hotter, my colleagues ran away. I also ran but they
pursued me and shot me in the legs, shattering my
ankles and bones. They also inflicted machete wounds
on me. The blood that came out of my body can fill
two buckets. It is only God that is sustaining my life till now
When contacted, the priest of St. Paul’s Anglican
Church, whose parish church was razed, Rev. Pat.
Odinanwa, said series of efforts made to ensure peace
in the community between the church and the
community failed. He said the pagans nursed
pathological hatred for Christians in the community.
According to him, there were agreements reached
between the church and the community, but the
pagans sought all avenues to stop Christians from
worshipping God in the community.
According to him, over 50 persons sustained gunshot
and machete wounds, while seven churches were

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), yesterday issued a one-week ultimatum to the Federal Government and the union’s leadership to resolve their differences or face corrosive consequences.

The students have vowed that they would take their destinies in their own hands if the parties failed to reconcile within a week and that they will go on a nation-wide riot in what it described as ‘operation occupy Nigeria’.

The students’ body appealed to ASUU to return to the classroom and continue negotiation with the Federal Government since the latter claimed to have released over N100 billion for infrastructural development and another N30 billion for allowances.

“We are appealing to ASUU that since the Federal Government has been able to release N100 billion for infrastructural development and N30 billion for allowance, they should go back to classroom and continue their negotiation or agitation. This is our prayer and wish.

“We are giving them one week to open the schools or be ready to face corrosive consequences in form of nation-wide demonstration and riots. We are ready to mobilise for that and it will be operation occupy Nigeria,” he said.

Lamenting the effect of the strike, Obasi said students have become prone to accidents on the highways and the female students have been reduced to s*x hawkers on the streets.

His words: “I stand to tell you that a lot of accidents have been recorded and 99.9% of the victims are Nigerian students. If they were in classrooms, they would not have fallen victims of road crashes.

“Our female students have become commercial s*x hawkers on the streets in order to make ends meet. This colossal effect is more than what ASUU is agitating for. Hence, we can no longer fold our arms and watch things go wrong.”

A 17-year-old female student of Takoradi Senior High
School (name withheld) revealed in an interview that
her biological father broke her virginity and has been
having s*xual intercourse with her for the past nine
months, at his Adiembra residence near Sekondi.
According to the girl, her father who was sojourning
in Spain returned to Ghana December last year and
that was when it all started. “At the age of 16, I had
not slept with any boy or man, but my father
returned from Spain last December and started

and exercise books and set them ablaze. “After that

How did you come into the movie industry?
"I have been acting since I was eight in Ripples. That was how I got into acting. For movies, I think that should be in 1998 in Most Wanted. I met Torino (Emeka Ojukwu) in a bus and to my greatest surprise, he recognized me from Ripples. He asked me why I left the industry and later invited me to the audition for Most Wanted. I got a role. A waka pass and that was it."

"Yes, Kunle Coker was actually my boyfriend, but he did not bring me to the industry.


Is it true that you dumped him for Fred Amata
"Fred Amata? I've never had anything to do with Fred Amata. I used to call him uncle, so I don't see the reason why I should date Fred. We are just friends."

What would you say is the worst story ever written about you in the press?
"So many bad things. But the one I hated most was the one about Fred Amata and I. It hurt me so much. I don't know where they got that story from."

Tell us about the first time you fell in love
"I think we met at a show. This was when I was in secondary school. (Her baby daddy). We shared a lot of things in common - singing. It was a case of two compatible people who were so much in love

So what eventually happened?
"Relationships sometimes come to an end."

What's your greatest wish?
"That God continues to bless me. Especially with the right man and a good family."

"No. The thing is just that there comes a time in your life where everything is going fine and all you can say to yourself is after this, what next? After everything you have to get married as far as you're a woman.

Why have you not furthered your education?
"Life is not the same for everybody. Some people are lucky they come out of secondary school and go straight to university. Mine was different. But I'm determined. Definitely I'm going back to school. I wanted to make money. I love my money. I cherish my own money. So I will go back when I make enough. But even while I'm there I won't stop working."

What part of a man's body do you like most?
"A man's chest, from the belly up.

Where do you hope to be in the next ten years?

Ladies, beware! Stop sending nude pictures of
yourself to your boyfriend, lover or even keeping
same on your phone or computer because you never
know who might see it and decide to ‘expose’ or
blackmail you at the slightest opportunity. A word
they say, is sufficient for the wise.

Victoria Alonge, a 25 -year old lady ,will serve a 1year jail term,after she was on monday senstenced to one -year behind the bar,for allegedly pouring hot oil on her boyfriend Roland Nna for refusing to marry her,report that Victoria was sentenced to 1year improsionment by a senior magistrate court in karudu, without an option of fine
after she admitted to the court that she
committed the offence. Alonge was arranged on a one -count charge of causing grievous harm to her victim Boyfriend,
The prosecutor told the court that Alonge went to
Nna’s house at about 4:30 am. on the fateful day
and poured hot oil on him while he was asleep,
resulting in grievous injury.
He said she was immediately arrested by the police,
after which she confessed to the crime.
Nudge said that while in detention, Along threatened
to inflict more harm on the victim.
The prosecutor, however, urged the court to
summarily punish the accused because she did not
deny the charge brought against her.
In her defence, Along told the court that her
estranged lover dated her for over four years and
promised to marry her, only for him to change his
mind after falling in love with another woman in Abuja.
“I did that to teach him a bitter lesson because he
refused to marry me after dating me for over four
years,” Alonge said. “He fooled me and my parents
and ditched me after finding a new lover here in
Abuja. I live in Lagos with my parents.”
