FamilyDana Air Crash: 11 Families Get $100,000 Compensation Each by Xmo10000(op): 9:59am On May 28, 2013
Only 11 of the 125 families of the victims of the Dana Air crash have received the full compensation of $100,000 almost one year after the tragic incident in Lagos. The $100,000 compensation for air crash victims is mandated by the International Air Transport Association, IATA. The crash occurred on June 3, 2012, in the Iju-Isha-passengers and crew members as well as 10 people on the ground.

This is just as 65 of the bereaved families, including Nigerians and foreigners, have instituted legal action against the airline for perceived negligence over the crash. Eight families were yet to show up for claims. These were revealed yesterday in Lagos, by Dana Air spokesman, Mr. Tony Usidamen, while briefing journalists on the steps taken by the airline on payment of compensation to the affected families.

It will be recalled that 153 passengers and crew members died in the accident while about 10 persons lost their lives on ground with colossal damages to properties.

Usidamen also explained that as at Friday, 95 of the 125 families had received the initial payment of $30,000, adding that 21 of the families had just submitted documents from the Probate Registry to enable them claim full compensation. He said that when the 21 families received the final payment of $100,000, the total number of families fully compensated would rise to 32.

The spokesman added that payment of full compensation to the families had been delayed due to late submission of documents, multiple entries from relatives and internal wrangling among the families. He, however, assured that the airline would ensure that those who had submitted documents were fully paid.

On the ground victims, Usidamen said that nine families were affected out of which seven had been given partial settlement while others two refused to collect the initial payment.

He stressed that Pastor Daniel Omowunmi, whose properties were destroyed and had demanded N500m compensation had also received initial payment of $30,000, adding that the airline and its insurance companies were still negotiating with the pastor.

He said: “The process of compensation is being handled by our insurance companies and as a responsible organisation; we need to get updates from our insurance companies. Negotiations are ongoing with the victims. The claims are completed and sent to our insurers who will appoint a valuer to evaluate the properties on ground before the accident.

“Unlike in the case of the victims onboard, which is spelt out by ICAO, ground victims have no clear cut on compensation. But all the victims will be compensated to the extent of their losses. The allegation that we’ve abandoned the ground families is not true, negotiations are going on, but agreement has not been reached.” However, one of the major ground victims,, Pastor Daniel Omowunmi denied collecting any amount of money from the airline as a compensation.

He explained that the $30,000 (about N4.5m) received from Dana about three months ago through his lawyer was to settle his accommodation problem. He insisted that he would continually press for his right, but refused to disclose his plans.

He said, “I did not receive any form of compensation from the airline. The $30,000 they are claiming to have paid me, was for my accommodation. Was I living on trees before the crash? My total claim from the airline is N500m, which serve as the value of my building, the furniture office and other items destroyed with the crash. “I’ve told them that I will continually be after them. What I will do, I won’t disclose it to the public, but I will ensure that I get whatever is due to me.

They have recommenced their operations since then, but they denied me the means of my livelihood.” Also, another victim of the crash, Mr. James Ognonaya denied collecting any amount of money from the airline apart from the initial N200,000 given to them immediately after the crash as a palliative measure. EntertainmentMeet The Last Man Alive That Was Born In The 19th Century by Xmo10000(op): 9:31am On May 28, 2013
With the death in Barbados on Thursday of James Emmanuel ''Doc'' Sisnett, at the age of 113 years and 90 days, Jiroemon Kimura, of Japan, has become the last man alive to have been born in the 19th century.
Supercentenarian: Jiroemon Kimura, right, is the last man alive to have been born in the 19th century.
Literally the last man. There are, according to the Gerontolgy Research Group at UCLA, 21 women born before New Year's Day, 1901, who are still with us, most of them living in the United States or Japan, with others in Europe and Canada.
But while the females born in the reign of Queen Victoria strongly outnumber him, Mr Kimura, born on April 19, 1897, has one record the girls can't match - not just yet, anyway.
At 116, the ''supercentenarian'' is the oldest human on the planet. Supercentenarians are people who have lived past their 110th birthday, and while it's estimated that there may be 200 or 300 living today, only 60-odd have been verified by reliable birth records.
Of them only two, Mr Kimura and Japanese woman Misao Okawa, are known to be still living aged 115 or older.
Advertisement Being born in the year 30 of the Meiji period, Mr Kimura has lived in the reigns of four emperors, and through the premierships of 61 Japanese prime ministers, from Matsukata Masayoshi to Shinzo Abe.
Mr Kimura retired in 1962 aged 65, after working for 45 years in the Japanese post office. He now lives in Kyōtango, Kyoto Prefecture, with his eldest son's widow, 83, and his grandson's widow, 59, and attributes his long life to eating small portions of food, and admits to spending most of his time ''in bed''.that's really cool......by wwww.xmoentertainment..com
FamilyBIZZARE. Six Killed, As Hoodlums Clash In Lagos by Xmo10000(op): 6:01pm On May 27, 2013
No fewer than six people were killed yesterday in a renewed clash between rival groups in Ajah area of Lagos over the struggle for the control of motor parks in the area.
It will be recalled that the Ilaje community was set ablaze seven months ago over disagreement as to who controls Ilaje Bus Stop which led to the death of three people.
The battle for ownership and territorial control in Ajah, between Ilaje community, who are regarded as settlers in the area, andthe indigenes of Ajah community, has been on for long and the hope of many residents that it had ended was dashed at the weekend when fighting resumed.
Three factions, Ajah Boys, Olumegbon Boys and Ilaje Boys, have so far been identified in the latest clash with the Ajah Boys said to be having the upper hand.
A resident of Ilaje, who simply identified himself as Tunde, told National Mirror that the latest clash was supposed to be betweenthe Olumegbon Boys and Ajah Boys, but that it was extended to the Ilaje Boys, who were not part of it. Tunde said that four Olumegbon members and two people were killed in the clash, which disrupted commercial activities in many parts of Ajah on Saturday.
It was gathered that the Olumegbon and theAjah, who had initially formed an alliance against the Ilaje Boys, have for some weeks been having disagreement over a ‘minor issue’ on the control of parks and other places.
It was gathered that the Olumegbon Boys were on Saturday deceived that there was going to be a peace meeting, when the Ajah Boys attacked them, killing four people in theprocess.
Ajah Boys, who felt that the Ilaje Boys might support the Olumegbon Boys, invaded the Ilaje Boys’ base and reportedly killed two members of the gang.
The situation became very riotous as soundsof gunfire filled most part of Ajah, forcing many residents to flee, while others remained indoors.
A resident, who did not want to be named, stated that the recent crisis might not be unconnected with moves by a prominent person in the area to become the monarch of the town.by...www.xmoentertainment..com

EntertainmentA Mum Of Two Told Last Night How Her Quest For A Bigger Bottom Left Her A Quadru by Xmo10000(op): 9:21am On May 27, 2013
Apryl Michelle Brown had black-market silicone injections which turned out to be BATHROOM SEALANT.
It left her in agony and led to her losing her hands and feet, as well as her buttocks.
The 46-year-old former hairdresser blames “vanity” and wants to warn others of the terrible dangers of such illegal treatments.
Apryl said: “I’ve paid a terrible price for vanity and I’ll pay for the rest of my life. But I blame no one but myself.
“I want to share my story to warn others about these so-called ‘quick fix’ surgeries.
“I didn’t realise the dangers. I thought it was a harmless injection that would give me the perfect bottom. But the reality was the silicone used wasn’t suitable for humans. It was, in fact, bathroom sealant only suitable for DIY.
“My body had a massive allergic reaction to it which left me at the brink of death.
“I was in so much agony that, by that point, dying would have been a release. The only way doctors could save my life was to amputate my buttocks, my hands and feet.”
Teased as a child about her “pancake” bum, Apryl vowed to buy a shapelier one when she was older.

CrimeA New Terror Group Has Emerged by Xmo10000(op): 1:09pm On May 26, 2013
According to a Punch report, a new terror group has emerged. It's called Movement forOneness and Jihad in West Africa (members pictured above). Currently, two terrorist groups exist in Nigeria - Boko Haram and Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladis Sudan. Read the Punch report below
Sunday Punch reports that there are fears in security circles that Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa MOJAO may infiltratethe country due to the porous nature of Nigeria’s borders.
Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, had last week said there were 1,497 illegal routes into the country.
MOJAO, a splinter group of the international terror group, al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, is after military operatives and facilities of countries that are complementing France’s efforts in quelling terrorists’ insurgency in Mali.
Besides Niger, Nigeria, Chad and Bukina Fasoare involved in military operations in Mali.
On Thursday, the Jihadist group claimed responsibility for a twin suicide bombing attack at the Nigerian/Nigerien border.
No fewer than 26, mostly Nigerien soldiers, were killed and about 30 injured, in the multiple attacks.
MOJAO spokesman, Abu Walid Sahraoui, said the attacks were targeted at “the enemies ofIslam.”
“We attacked Niger Republic because of its co-operation with France in the war against Sharia,” he added.
A highly placed security official told one of our correspondents that the group had been in existence since 2011.
According to the official, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the subject, MOJAO poses a threat to Nigeria’s security.
He said, “We now have to prevent them frominfiltrating Nigeria; we have enough Boko Haram challenges. Don’t forget that membersof Boko Haram, who were dislodged from Sambisa Games Reserve and other camps in Borno State fled to neigbouring states and the Niger Republic. So many of them from Abadan, Malam Fatori and other villages, are now refugees in Difa, Niger Republic. They can decide to pitch tents with MOJAO.
“MOJAO has attacked barracks in Niger, which is similar to what Boko Haram does inNigeria. This new group may want to do the same in here majorly because we are also involved in the Malian operation — which is one of their grievances.
“They are also likely to target our soldiers at the border.”
When SUNDAY PUNCH contacted the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen Chris Olukolade, on Friday about the threat of the new group, he said efforts were on to sensitise all military formations across the country to exhibit a high level of alertness.
Olukolade said the Nigerian troops were at the border with Niger in line with the military’s decision.
He said, “Our troops are everywhere. They have been at the border since the beginningof the operation.
“Military formations are being sensitised on the need to maintain a high level of alertnessin all locations whether or not they are involved in any operation or exercises.
“The public is implored to be vigilant and ensure that they report all suspicious movements or activities to security agencies promptly.”
President Goodluck Jonathan had on May 14,2013, during a national broadcast, declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
This was in response to the activities of suspected terrorists in North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
Some sections of Nigeria’s border with Nigerpass through Yobe and Borno states.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State has begun the registration of residents of communities in its domain as a precautionary step against infiltration by militants fleeing military bombardment in Borno State.
SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that holders of the traditional titles of Sarkin Matasa (youth leaders) in communities across the state were driving the project.
A military source in the state said, “Adamawa State through the emirate councilhas introduced a house-to-house count of people in the state. This is to enable all wards leaders to know the exact number of persons per household and to check infiltrators in Borno.”
The source, who pleaded anonymity, added that suspected Boko Haram members, who had fled northern Borno, were regrouping at Zumo area of Song Local Government Areaof Adamawa State.
The area is believed to have a difficult topography comprising mountains, rocks, and thick forest that extends to the country’snorthern border with Cameroon.
The Director, Press and Public Relations of the Adamawa State Government House, Mr. Ahmad Sajoh, confirmed the development.
He said, “What is happening is part of our pro-active measures to mitigate the effects of the state of emergency. The Sarkin Matasa, who are traditional title holders in the state’sEmirate Council, will mobilise people to be pro-active.
“What they are doing is to encourage the people to open registers, either in writing orusing indigenous methods, to keep track of residents of a given area.by ..www.xmoentertainment..com
CrimeWoolwich Killer, Michael Adebolajo Was Held In Kenya On Terror Charges And Depor by Xmo10000(op): 12:45pm On May 26, 2013
Woolwich killer, Michael Adebolajo was held in Kenya on terror charges and deported to the UK
Culled from Daily Mail UK
Woolwich suspect Michael Adebolajo came to the attention of MI5 after he appeared in court in Kenya on suspicion of planning to fight for a terrorist group.
Adebolajo was arrested with five others in November 2010. All were said to have been heading for neighbouring Somalia, where they had been recruited by Al-Shabaab, the Islamist insurgent organisation.
Adebolajo, who was filmed after the Woolwich slaughter with blood on his hands, was deported without being charged.
I t was soon after his return to Britain, a close friend claims, that MI5 earmarked him as a potential informant and began assiduously courting him. The Mail on Sunday has been told:
*.   Intelligence officers offered Adebolajo money and gave him a mobile phone;
*.   Adebolajo was asked to spy on a group of Muslims with links to Al Qaeda terrorists in Yemen;
*.  He resisted their attempts to ‘turn’ him and complained to lawyers he was being harassed. An East London-based solicitor, who asked not to be named, said: ‘He came to see us last year. He raised serious concerns which are similar to ones we have heard before from others. He met a member of my team and discussed his case.
He complained that they [MI5] kept wanting to talk to him and his family. They kept coming round his family home and wanted to meet him regularly. We said if he wanted to deal with it properly, he should give us the number they [MI5] had given him and we would call them.
‘He was very paranoid about the whole thing. But he didn’t come back so we didn’t do anything else with him.’
It is understood that soon afterwards the contact with intelligence officers suddenly ceased.
Adebolajo’s links to the security services were first revealed on Friday on Twitter by one of his closest friends, Abu Nusaybah. Hours later, Nusaybah was arrested under the Terrorism Act just as he was finishing a pre-recorded interview for BBC Newsnight.
Earlier that day, Nusaybah, whose real name is Ibrahim Hassan, gave an interview to a Mail on Sunday reporter in which he made further claims about MI5 and Adebolajo.
‘They wanted him to spy on a group of Muslims who have links to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula [AQAP]. They wanted information about them.’
AQAP, based in Yemen, has been called ‘the most active operational franchise’ of Al Qaeda beyond Pakistan and Afghanistan.
‘They offered him [Adebolajo] money and they gave him a special mobile phone to use when calling them,’ said Hassan. ‘They even took him in for interviews, just to intimidate him to work for them. But he refused.’
By the time Adebolajo arrived in Kenya in 2010, he was already deeply immersed in radical Islam and espousing extremist views.
Along with five Kenyan youths, he was picked up by local police on November 23 after spending the night in a guesthouse on Faza Island, part of the Lamu archipelago in the Indian Ocean close to the Somali border.
Principal magistrate Richard Kirui was told that all six men had been recruited to Al-Shabaab and intended to fight with them to bring down the country’s transitional government.
Al-Shabaab has imposed a strict version of Sharia law in the areas it controls, including stoning to death women accused of adultery.
In court, the youths claimed they had been given nothing to eat for two days and had been denied access to lawyers.
They had spent a night in police custody in Mombasa and were questioned by counter terrorism officers before being taken to court the next day. Adebolajo was fingerprinted and photographed and made a full statement.
After the order was made to deport Adebolajo, police officers accompanied him, handcuffed, in an unmarked police vehicle toNairobi airport.
During the day-long drive, the vehicle was involved in a minor accident, and although no-one was injured the journey was delayed. That evening Adebolajo was put on the first available flight to London.
At this time he was living on a council estate in Greenwich, South East London, with girlfriend Rikki Thomas and her two childrenfrom a previous relationship.
The Mail on Sunday has learned that Thomas – arrested last week in a police raid on her Greenwich house and later released without charge – gave birth to the terror suspect’s son last year..continue...at www.xmoentertainment..com

FamilyWife Of House Of Reps Members Accused To Torturing Two Women by Xmo10000(op): 12:41pm On May 25, 2013
Wife of a serving House of Representatives member was fingered yesterday in the torture, beating and alleged attempt to kidnap two ladies in Isale Eko area of Lagos.
Sources say that yesterday morning at about7.15a.m, a Toyota Camry car which was usedfor the operation caused a stir in Bamgbose Street in Lagos Island at the heart of Lagos metropolis.
Like a bolt from the blue, six unidentified ladies, carrying canes came out of the unregistered grey coloured car and advanced towards No 101, Bamgbose Street.
The unmasked ladies met one Alhaja Basidat Ajadi Balogun, a business woman resident inthe street and repeatedly flogged her as she wept. (The woman pictured above)
Balogun, who was shouting at the top of hervoice while the beating was going on, tried without success to find out from the rampaging ladies why she was being beaten.
According to a resident of the street, who pleaded not to be mentioned, while the severe beating was going on, Alhaja Jolaade Batola, wife of an influencial legislator, a House of Representatives member, representing Mainland federal constituency, was seen seated, inside the unregistered Toyota Camry car and giving orders to the lady on what to do to their victim.
The Nigerian Compass on Saturday, further learnt that the rampaging ladies planned to take the business woman away but for her resistance. The boot of their Camry was thrown open, while the woman in the car ordered the ladies to drag the woman and throw her into the boot.
Independent checks at the Lion Building police command however showed that the matter has been reported there even as our correspondent on Friday traced the batteredbusiness woman to the General Hospital, who was receiving treatment.
Though she was initially reluctant to speak with The Nigerian Compass on Saturday, when she opened up, she said she was standing outside her resident, talking to a tenant, when the six ladies, unknown to her, accompanied, by Mrs Batola arrived the placeand began to beat her up.more at....www.xmoentertainment..com
