Switzerland’s former midfielder, Karim Gazzetta has reportedly committed suicide at his home in Bosnia and Herzergovina by jumping from a building in the early hours of Monday.

Mirror UK reports that the 27-year-old former Swiss international footballer was found dead in front of his home in the city of Mostar which is 45 miles South of Sarajevo.

Gazzetta had signed for local team Zrinjski, the reigning Bosnian champions, in the summer but was restricted to two appearances due to injuries.

His first club, Servette, in a statement quoted by Mirror UK said that "The Servettienne family mourns today the disappearance of Karim Gazzetta, child of the club. To his loved ones, his family, we send our most sincere condolences and our support. Rest in peace Karim."

Further reports stated that the attacking midfielder was once tipped for the very top and appeared for the Swiss at every level up to Under-20 but had experienced continuous injury problems.

Gazzetta also played for Winterthur, Lausanne and Xamax.

Lausanne in their tribute said, "The Swiss football family is in mourning. It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Karim Gazzetta. The LS presents its most sincere condolences to all of his family and loved ones."

"The Swiss Football League mourns the loss of former U20 international Karim Gazzetta, who tragically passed away in Bosnia. Most recently, at the age of 27, he was under contract with the Bosnian league leaders Zrinjski Mostar.

"The SFL expresses its deepest condolences to the entire family and loved ones, especially his younger brother Luca, who made three appearances in the Challenge League for Servette FC in the 2017/18 season and is currently playing in the Promotion League for Stade Nyonnais,” the spokesman for the Swiss Football League added.

Meanwhile, the Bosnia police said an investigation is ongoing.

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has appealed to his supporters to desist from making derogatory comments or verbally attacking any politician.

Speaking through a personally signed statement on Friday, Obi specifically urged his supporters not to attack the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.

He argued that Nigeria already has enough challenges it is dealing with and none of his supporters should engage in name-calling or derogatory statements about persons or groups that could further heat up the polity.

Obi pointed out that a particular candidate of the Labour Party in Benue State had referred to Governor Ortom as a deceit during a recent campaign rally in the state but such tagging is not acceptable.

He urged his followers and supporters to instead focus on issue-based campaigns.

The LP presidential candidate said:

“I call on the Labour Party Faithfuls, especially candidates at all levels, including my supporters, to desist from name calling or derogating anyone, groups of persons or religions.

“Nigeria has very huge problems and is currently at risk of implosion from economic hardship and insecurity. The focus, therefore, should be on how to deal with the deleterious consequences of a tanking economy, pervasive insecurity, and the many challenges that the nation is contending with, rather than degenerating into name-calling.

“Specifically, during our recent campaign in Benue, a candidate referred to the Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, as a “deceit.” That is totally unacceptable to us.

“The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, remain a very patriotic Nigerian, who has always spoken for the best interest of his people and Nigeria in general. We all have our shortcomings, I have mine, and so do others. But, we should not refer to people in such a derogatory manner

“We must continue to focus on running an issue-based campaign and unite with everyone to build a new and better Nigeria.

Napoli has celebrated Victor Osimhen’s feat as the highest-scoring Nigerian in the Italian top flight.

The Federal Government has explained why it failed to pay full salaries to lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

In a statement, by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment on Saturday, the government noted that members of ASUU were paid their October salary pro-rata.

According to the ministry, pro-rata was done because they cannot be paid for work not done.

The statement further clarified that the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, never directed the Accountant General of the Federation to pay the university lecturers half salaries.

The statement reads in part,

“Following the ruling of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the order of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, asking ASUU to go back to work, the leadership of the union wrote to the Minister, informing him that they have suspended the strike. The Federal Ministry of Education wrote to him in a similar vein and our labour inspectors in various states also confirmed that they have resumed work.

“So, the Minister wrote to the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning, directing that their salaries should be restored. They were paid in pro-rata for the number of days that they worked in October, counting from the day that they suspended their industrial action. Pro-rata was done because you cannot pay them for work not done. Everybody’s hands are tied.”

The ministry equally faulted a statement by the Chairperson of ASUU, Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto branch, Muhammad N. Al-Mustapha, accusing the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, of biased payment of salaries to selected professional members of the union.

“Those obviously being referred to by the UDUS ASUU chairperson were members of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association who abstained from the eight-month strike of ASUU because they abhorred the incessant strikes by the union and its grave effects on medical education in Nigeria and production of more medical doctors.

“Accusing the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, of biased payment of salaries to selected professional members of ASUU, is a barefaced distortion of facts. Mustapha said he received information that a segment of the staff in the College of Health Sciences has been paid seven months of their withheld salaries from March to September, due to a letter written to the Minister of Finance, instructing the exemption of the under-listed staff on the application of ‘No Work, No Pay’ rule.

“To set the records straight, the medical lecturers who are being referred to by the Chairperson of the ASUU UDUS branch, abstained from the eight-month strike of ASUU. This has been corroborated in a press statement by the Chairman, MDCAN UdUS, Dr B. Jubrin and Secretary, Dr I. G Ango, on Friday, November 4, 2022.”

Quoting from Dr Jubrin’s press statement, “Realising the emergency situation in the sub-region worsened by emerging public health threats, the medical and dental lecturers in UDUS decided to continue the academic activities during the ASUU strike to save our healthcare from total collapse. To this end, the UDUS medical lecturers agreed to conduct lectures and examinations during the period of the strike.

“In line with the provisions of the Labour Act, we wrote and sought the intervention of the Minister of Labour and Employment, to ensure payment of our salaries. The Minister, having carefully reviewed our submission and that of the university management, obliged. This is not an act of favouritism as alleged by ASUU, UDUS branch leadership in their press statement.

“ASUU, UDUS branch, as an association, is expected to protect the interest of all her members and appreciate the differences or peculiarities of medical education. The ASUU can legitimately fight for its lawful rights without tramping on the rights of others who are also university staff. We hope that this response will put issues in their proper perspective.

One significant and amazing thing about this tribe is their red colour skin called, the otjize paste ( a combination of butterfat, omuzumba scrub and ochre) and its function is to protect their skin from the sun and insect bites.

The Himba tribe doesn’t bath, they only cover themselves up wit otjize leaf which gives them exceptional body smell as if they use a fragrance.

Viewers have sent complaints to Ofcom after a comedian stripped naked during a special episode of Friday Night Live.

Jordan Gray - who was the first ever trans person to appear on The Voice - took part in Friday Night Live on October 21, where she stripped off halfway through her performance.

In the sketch, the comedian could be seen slowly undressing while she continued to play the keyboard live on air.

Since the show aired, almost 1,600 people who were offended by the daring performance have submitted complaints to the independent regulators.

A further 172 complaints were made relating to Jordan's performance one week after the episode aired.

A spokesperson for Ofcom has since said: "We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

Speaking about her performance the next day, Jordan tweeted: "Last night was everything. Thank you and congrats to @channel4 for giving us an absolute moment of comedy history: the return of #FridayNightLive!"

She later addressed the hate she received from trolls online, adding: "To my gorgeous new followers: please be patient with those who don't understand.

"No hate. Women are beautiful. Men are beautiful. NBs are beautiful. I'm just a t*t with a piano. And change can be scary."

Despite the backlash to her empowering performance, the star was also showered with praise for bravely showing off her body on the show.

Ex-Super Eagles and Kano Pillars striker, Bello Musa Kofarmata, has reportedly died at the age of 34.

According to Oyo Sports News, the former Nigerian international passed away late on Tuesday, November 1, in his birthplace of Kano after a brief illness.

The deceased will be buried later today (Wednesday) in accordance with Islamic customs.

Kofarmata began playing football in 2007 with Kanos Buffalo F.C. He joined Kano Pillars in the same year. He left Kano Pillars in 2010 to join Heartland FC of Owerri, then switched to Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in 2012. He then returned to Kano Pillars.

He sealed a deal with IK Start of Norway, following a spate of trials with the team. With Kano Pillars, he won the Nigerian Premier League for 2007-08 and was with 11 goals the top goalscorer.

In August 2008, Kofarmata was on a trial at Austrias LASK and played one friendly game. The forward returned from Europe to Pillars at the start of the 2008 season. He joined Heartland in January 2010 for a fee of N5 million. After two and half years, he left Heartland and signed with his lifelong club, Kano Pillars.

Late Kofarmata was part of Nigerias contingent to the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. He made his Super Eagles debut in March 2010, coming on as a substitute in the 5-2 friendly match win over DR Congo in Abuja.

Daniel Regha, has slammed afrobeat legend Ayodeji Balogun better known as Wizkid, for making a promotional tweet for his forthcoming coming album, on the day of his colleague Davido’s son ifeanyi’s death.

Wizkid who probably wasn’t aware of the tragic event had made a tweet as about his “More Love Less Ego” album slated for released November 4th, but was quick to take the tweet down. A move many viewed to be in solidarity of his late colleague’s son demise.


The personality however would go on to berate the singer, calling him an insensitive hypocrite, reminding him of how he publicly disgraced his colleague Reekado Banks in 2020 after he posted about a song they made during the heat of the EndSARS Protest.

A Nigerian clergyman, Prophet Samuel King, is currently trending online after his old Facebook post predicting singer, Davido’s son, Ifeanyi’s death resurfaced.

Davido’s three-year-old son died on Monday night after he drowned in a swimming pool in the singer’s home in Banana Island, Lagos state.

The news of Ifeanyi’s death shook Nigerian cyberspace to the core, with many heartbroken by the tragic incident.

Following Ifeanyi’s death, Davido’s foster brother revealed in a post on his Insta-stories that the family had earlier received a prophecy about the incident, but it was taken for granted.

Amid this, a post that was shared on Facebook in January by Prophet Samuel warning about the impending danger on Ifeanyi started making the rounds online.

In the post, he had asked the singer to pray against the arrow of death, especially against his son.


However, the clergyman, has now spoken out about the prophesy in an updated post that he titled “GLOBAL ACCURATE PROPHECY CONFIRMED.”

Prophet Samuel, who claimed that the prophecy was in two parts, asked Davido to reach out to him to avert a mirror of this tragic incident in 2023.
