Team news
23 March 2010

Harry Redknapp hasn't ruled out possible returns for Tom Huddlestone and David Bentley for Wednesday night's FA Cup quarter-final replay against Fulham.

Both trained today (Tuesday, March 23) - Tom after being sidelined with an ankle injury since February 28, David after suffering a virus that kept him out of the reckoning for Stoke on Saturday.

"One or two have a chance of being fit," reported Harry this morning. "Tom's getting closer. It's touch and go but we'll see how he is and it's the same with David, we'll see how they are after training.
"Danny Rose could also possibly return after his knee injury."

Unfortunately, Harry will be without the services of Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko (both hamstring), Aaron Lennon, Jermain Jenas (both groin) and Ledley King (thigh).

On top of that, Younes Kaboul is cup-tied after playing in the competition for Portsmouth and Kyle Walker after playing for Sheffield United.

As for Aaron and JD, Harry had positive news. "Aaron's done very well out with the fitness coaches and hopefully he won't be too long," he said. "I don't want to put a date on his possible return, because you never know, but he's desperate to get fit. Jermain's hamstring also feels a lot better."

Sandro deal agreed

Am delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Internacional for the transfer of Sandro to the Club, subject to the player passing a medical examination.

The Brazil international will join up with our squad following the conclusion of Internacional's Copa Libertadores campaign this summer.

The 21-year-old midfielder has appeared on 73 occasions for Inter, scoring three times and helped them to a second-place finish in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A last season to qualify for the 2010 Copa Libertadores.

Sandro made his international debut against Chile in a World Cup qualifier last September.

He has also been capped on eight occasions for the national team's Under-20 side and was their captain as they triumphed in the South American Youth Championship in Venezuela in February 2009.

Loan watch
15 March 2010

Adel Taarabt did it again for QPR - much to the delight of manager Neil Warnock.

The Moroccan international was inspired again and scored the equaliser to earn Rangers a 1-1 draw in the Championship at Warnock's former club Sheffield United.

Adel pounced on a defensive slip from Marcel Seip, raced into the box and finished in style four minutes into the second half. He'd earlier set-up his side's best chance in the first half and later forced Blades goalkeeper Mark Bunn into a fine save to tip over his free-kick.

He has scored two goals in his last two games and Warnock, in charge for three matches, said: "Taarabt is working ever so hard and he's got so much skill. He's been the best player on the pitch since the first training session."

Staying in the Championship, Kyle Naughton was eight minutes from upsetting leaders Newcastle United with Middlesbrough only for Andy Carroll to strike for a 2-2 draw. Kyle played the full 90 minutes.

Steven Caulker played another full shift as Yeovil beat Hartlepool 4-0 in League One while Jon Obika came off the bench in the 85th minute as Millwall trounced Charlton 4-0 at the New Den.

In League Two, David Button's Shrewsbury were beaten 1-0 by impressive league leaders Rochdale at the Prostar Stadium.

Of our more senior players out on loan, Robbie Keane scored a hat-trick in 18 minutes in the second half as Celtic beat Kilmarnock in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup. The Old Firm were kept apart in Monday's semi-final draw and will now be favourites to meet in the final in May.

In the Premier League, Alan Hutton played 90 minutes as Sunderland were denied a fine win against Manchester City by an injury time equaliser from Adam Johnson on Sunday.

Giovani played 63 minutes as Galatasaray beat Ankaragucuspor 3-0 in the Turkish Super Ligue. They remain top by a point from Bursaspor.

Tom Huddlestone (ankle),
Jermaine Jenas (groin),
Ledley King (thigh),
Aaron Lennon (groin),
Carlo Cudicini (wrist, pelvis) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin).

Deadly duo do it again!

Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko struck again as we beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 at White Hart Lane on today.

'JD' tucked away the opening goal in first half injury time while 'Pav' fired home from 20 yards 10 minutes into the second half before securing another valuable three points with the third goal five minutes from time.

Pavlyuchenko's double made it seven goals in his last five matches while Defoe now has 22 for the campaign.

Oboy i i never knew Pav was that good.

Hello everybody,
I had we have completed the signing of former
Chelsea and Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen
on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Tuesday this week was Tony Parks Birthday

Tony Parks got more than he bargained for as he celebrated his birthday at Spurs Lodge on Thursday.

Training went as normal but Xtra knew 'celebration' plans were afoot when treated to the sight of Heurelho Gomes hiding a bag of flour in the trees.

The plan was hatched by Gomes and the rest of the goalkeepers and executed to perfection with a little help from Tom Huddlestone and Robbie Keane.

First of all, they needed 'Parksy' sitting in the target area, so Gomes went and sat alone on one of the benches in the central area of the training ground.

Next to get his attention and, with his sides still splitting, Jimmy Walker explained: "Basically, we told Gomes to look miserable and got Ben (Alnwick) to go and get Parksy. Ben went over to him and said 'Parksy, you better come and see Gomes, he's sitting on his own and looking a bit upset', so Parksy came over to the bench'."

Phase one complete, Tom and Robbie sprung into action. Legging it over from the little alley leading to the changing room - and therefore completely out of sight - the pair pounced, Robbie with the flour, Tom with a bowl of made up cold porridge.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together!

Parksy, such a great character, said he actually enjoyed the experience and was impressed with the meticulous planning that went into it.

He smiled: "It was great! I was in the gym when Ben came up to me and said 'you better come and see Gomes, he looks a bit upset', so I went out and sat next to him on the bench, but in the next breath he'd got up and legged it!"

The rest, as they say, is history - enjoy the pictures
