If you allow me to come into the argument, there are short-term and long term solution to problems. Ibaka and onne and obuaku seaports can be seen as medium to long-term solutions of the problem. . . 5 - 10 years SNB is a short term solution . . . 3-5 years. Both projects are very very important. I used to live in asaba and work in onitsha and it was always a mess coming home from work to cross the bridge every evening due to mad traffic. This clearly will stop with SNB in the short term Also in December, the bridge is a major source of worry. what is clear is that we cannot leave behind to our children, a society which discriminates against them or a society which denies them their basic freedom or a society where they have to trave 800 miles to Lagos to bring in a Krones filler, when they decide to start a company of their dreams. ezeagu: I'm sorry, you do not have proper reasoning skills. What is the purpose of a second Niger bridge? Why is it such an issue to get a second Niger bridge? Is it not so people can run to the village for three days and then run back to live and work and therefore contribute to other regions? Do you know what capital flight is?

There are possibly other ports which could be upgraded and made into stronger ports such as Onne. |

The solution to sanitation i believe is to privatize it and have people on full time job cleaning streets and parks like Local councils in UK France Germany have done. They use street sweepers, dump trucks and manual cleaning, spray guns to clean sections of the city periodically depending on the frequency of dirtiness. It is not a job a "Job for the Masses" "The Masses" simply have to be taxed on an annual basis for this service The monthly sanitation exercise clearly does not work and where it does, people simply cut the grass and dump on the road, or pack their trash to the nearest drainage immediately. For cleaning to be efficient any way you need to do waste segregation at source, have small refuse bins all over the city, stop pasting posters all over the city except on designated bill boards and most importantly You must tar most streets and corners . . . i mean with coal tar and not cement, that way, cars do not carry sand all over the place. This can be done The motivation is clearly the number of jobs this cleaning can create in Onitsha alone, when you tax people and invest the money in cleaning neighbourhoods and managing play grounds and parks. (Park is not motor park o) Note that cleaning can only be effective when all of the surface where people live in a city are covered by cement, coal tar, carpet grass or proper artificial flooring. This can be done OdenigboAroli: And like you previously stated,I am not in town but I have reliable sources. The issue of sanitation is much more challenging than we think. It is capital intensive, requires the masses to get involved. I believe we will triumph with the sanitation challenge but these things take time and perseverance. I don't have any problem with criticism but let do so,constructively and not as though we are attacking his person. We need more waste disposal equipment and man power in greater number and all these cost money. We are dealing with a society that has no culture of keeping the environment clean and trying to change their mindset overnight is a challenge,a real challenge. lets factor all these challenges as we move on.....Our beloved Onicha can not turn squeaky clean, overnight. Its a work in progress.

This is very correct. The morden challenge for the black man is running a capitalist economic system in the midst of poverty With little meqns of wealth redistribution. Lack of education and research prolongs this cycle and at the moment, the west refers to africa not as developing but as left behind What we see even in Nigeria is a govt compounding this problem by creating private monopolies in the name of privatisation You must create social security to redistribute wealth to the vulnerable in society You must strengthen education up to the level of research Capitalism in its pure form is evil Socialism guarantees people a good and healthy life to people Bishop42: CONTD
1. Utility Bills 2. Mortgage Payments 3. Loans and interest 4. Tv License 6. Council Tax 7. Parking fees 8. Speeding Ticket 9. Grocery shopping 10. Buy things as they want 11. Vehicle license fees 12. Insurance Premiums 13. VAT 14. Student Loan repayment 15. Congestion charges for the people in London 16. Retirement Benefits or savings And so on You see clearly that before the end of the month, oyibo has collected back the money they paid you the previous month and are ready to pay you with THE SAME MONEY AGAIN But in Nigeria and all black nations---the oyibos that use their brain buy crude and give blacks some money the same way they bought slaves When Nigerians get the money here is what happens 1. Some bury their own in the ground 2. Some go and put theirs in Dubai or Switzerland bank 3. Some build safe and put the money in their house or shop because of distressed banks 4. Some get to the market and remain there. Based on this flow since blackman has a government that is never their brothers keeper, THE MONEY HAS NO WAY TO RETURN BACK TO GOVERNMENT making it difficult for some states to pay salaries. The annoying thing is the same criminal government will turn around and tell people they are saving money by reducing ministries and rendering people unemployed and you wonder "who are they saving the money for?" and people, even professors believe the crap. I hallenge anyone in Nigeria or abroad to tell us publicly if this is not what oyibo did. *************** *************** *************** *************** If you think this is not correct or its not what oyibo did and why they think blacks do not know anything, please lets have your point.Dont be angry with me when I say what I say about "us" as blacks, its obvious there is something not very right somewhereIf you think this is not correct or its not what oyibo did and why they think blacks do not know anything, please lets have your point.Dont be angry with me when I say what I say about "us" as blacks, its obvious there is something not very right somewhere Source: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153534402089939&id=551864938&refid=17&_ft_=top_level_post_id.10153534402089939 |

You have a right to determine how your region is run but when it comes to the oil in egbema, your opinion changes. You are the hypocrite zeestunner: Ena ofugara should stop being a hypocrite. The northerners have a right to determine how they want there region run. Its their land its their government. We should remember that at that time we had regional governments resources then belong to the regions not like now. Nobody would want to be dorminated by another in his territory. Where there northerners in the eastern civil service? Nobody should use education as an excuse. ahmadu bello was rite if u give them an inch they would want to claim everyting lagos is an example. I am sorry but I disagree with you on this part. Yes you have one life to live, but you must understand that the onus lies on me to pass on to my children and their children a world in which they are free and which belongs truly to their father and the father of their father. If we are myopic to think only for ourselves, then we can not worry about changing the current system and seek to meander our way around it. But we biafrans truly cannot pass on to our children a society that oppresses them, where they cannot aspire to their dreams, where they cannot be equal before all men of white/black or where they cannot smoke or drink beer in any part of their country. This struggle is beyond me. . . I will turn in my grave if my children start to ask why their forefathers begot them into a zoo. I will not let that happen. rman: . Anyway, if the country breaks up or not the reality of life is, in the old our new country, the following characteristics of man will still be there:
- there will still be poor people. - there will still be those that will be unhappy - people will still fall sick - human insatiable greed will still be there - if u have nothing to offer now, u will still not fare better in the new countries.
My point, we all have one life to live and the onus is one each individual to make something tangible out of it. |
