Hello house, thanks for d gud job u ar doing. I‘ll soon take delivery of my 406 with EW 10 engine after following ds thread for quite some time. I therefore want to be guided on what to do/ change as soon as I take delivery of my “baby“. I hav ds idea dt things like tyre, battery, engine oil, among others must be changed. I need ur guidance. Thanks in anticipation.

Ikenna351: If it is yours clutch pressure plate, the gear 1 and reverse wont enter or will be making the same noise.

If this was older Peugeot, i would ask you to check the gear linkages/rod fibers. Been there. But am not sure 407 manual gear set up is the same, since 406 uses cables in place of rods. They do have some pipes with fibers that will make gears difficult to enter if failed.

Concentrate on the gearbox not clutch. The problem could be internal (coming from inside the box) or the gear linkages fibers.

eazy12: Pls I just want to enquire waz about buying a 406 but waz told dat it has a EW12 engine and waz advice not to buy cos they are usaually problematic

owoblo345: Ok guys, i'm now officially a member of this thread . Recently acquired a Peugeot 407 EW12 (much kudos to Ikenna for technical advice and assistance). So far everything is in good working order and i hope it remains that way . I must say i've learnt a lot from this thread and was inspired by your various comments to get a Peugeot. Cheers to everyone....

Did the ASD motors guy scan the car with PP2000 or just with unversal scanner?

Ikenna351: Even your 10 L/100km or 32mpg on highway is not normal.

I got 39 mpg (about 7 L/100km) 3 days ago on an expressway in Abuja in my D9 V6, with the AC on. So if my V6 can get more mpg than yours (which i believe is I4), then something must be wrong. Even in the city, last time i checked, i was getting 22mpg with the D9 v6, with the AC on.

If your check engine light is not on when engine is running, something is still wrong. Hope your brake is not binding? Hope you havent removed the cooling system thermostat? Hope your tyre(s) is not underinflated?

What engine is it, anyway?
