Why Oborevwori’s defection is a betrayal of democratic trust
Oborevwori, elected in 2023 on the PDP platform, betrayed voters by defecting to the APC just two years into his term, ignoring their mandate for PDP representation. Critics like myself have painted this political cross-carpeting as a politicians only achieving political positions for selfish gains rather than the interest of the people. Post 2023 general election PDP crisis is one major factor for his defection and as typical of Nigerian politicians to always consolidate powers to themselves. Oborevwori’s defection is just a survival tactics under Tinubu’s influence but at the cost of people survival.

Just read the news about Delta governor's defection. I am not surprised as this is part of the reason why Tinubu traveled to France. More defections to come.... One party state agenda continues.... PDP as a party and opposition will be dead before 2027 if nothing is done to stop Tinubu and his political APC cronies.... The only way APC can rig and win in 2027 is to capture as many opposition states as possible.

As someone who has had the unique privilege of travelling with Mr. Peter Obi across Nigeria, state by state, city by city, I categorically reject the recent lies peddled by Mr. Omoyele Sowore regarding Mr. Peter Obi’s movement and lifestyle. His claim that Mr. Peter Obi moves with at least ten SUVs not only false but an intentional distortion of reality aimed at misleading the public.

I have journeyed with Mr. @PeterObi on countless occasions, including during campaign seasons. Not once-not once-have we arrived at any location with a convoy of ten SUVs. In fact, it is public knowledge among those who truly know Mr. @PeterObi that he is one of the most modest and frugal political figures Nigeria has seen.

Yes, Mr. @PeterObi moves with SUVs, but let the truth be told, these are not official or state-sponsored convoys. The vehicles are often those brought by volunteers, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians who believe in his cause.

On many trips, Mr. @PeterObi insists we use just one bus or, at most, two vehicles and a police patrol van. He is never about fanfare or excess.

I remember, during his time as Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi would often travel with his commissioners in a single bus. People knew this while he was governor, and two newspapers even awarded him the title of "Most Prudent Governor of the Year." He would sit side by side with them, not in a tinted luxury SUV, but in simplicity, without airs, without entitlement. That is the man I know. That is the man Nigerians are coming to love and respect.


On numerous occasions, I have shared the same car with Mr. Peter Obi, even just last night, when we attended President Goodluck Jonathan’s cocktail reception in celebration of the Sunhak Peace Prize awarded to him. Mr. Peter Obi sat in the front while we sat in the back. He is one person who lives exactly what he preaches. He is a champion of humility and discipline.


Come to think of it, the only airports Mr. @YeleSowore could have possibly met Mr. @PeterObi would be Lagos or Abuja, where it's impossible. He couldn't have landed with him in Enugu or Onitsha because people there know the truth and would never support such a lie.

As we approach another election season, I want Nigerians to brace up for more lies, manipulations, and smear campaigns against Mr. @PeterObi. The truth threatens those who benefit from deceit. But we must stand firm, continue to speak out, and call out falsehoods wherever they appear.

Mr. @YeleSowore, with all due respect, you owe Nigerians the truth, not fabrications fueled by rivalry or resentment.

Let it be known, Mr. @PeterObi does not need to lie, and he certainly does not need to impress anyone with a convoy. His integrity, simplicity, and authenticity are his convoy.
