You know, one of the problems that His Excellency Peter Obi is having is that, there is no need for you to always want to defend everything. The Commissioner of Finance said, “Oh, they’re paying monies that were borrowed from the Peter Obi’s government and Obiano’s government.” Obiano didn’t say anything because there’s no need. And there’s no big deal if you borrow money as a government. Every government borrows money. The most important thing, even Mr. Peter Obi has said before that borrowing isn’t the matter, it’s what you do with the money that’s the issue.

So what was the big deal of you coming to defend and say, “Oh no, we didn’t borrow money. If you show anything, show me, and I will stop campaigning”? Sometimes you allow the sleeping dog lie. It’s not everything that you would always want to tackle. You always want to show that it’s you that have integrity, that level of person.

Now that the Anambra government is sharing actual documents. The same thing he did with the video evidence at the airport. The people you met at the airport had already allowed you gone. The matter had died. Nobody knew about it. You used your hand to revive the same issue and talked about it, how they treated you, they now went and brought video evidence of what happened, and then it showed that you were lying. And then the last time embarrassing you.
Why don’t we say these things? Some of you that think that, “Oh, we just hate Peter Obi,” and then do around insulting us, well insut doesn’t do anything. It won’t stop us from saying the way the thing is.

I honestly think that Peter should have good advisors, there some things you ignore. It’s not everything that you would react to, not everything that you even need to talk about. There are some things that don’t need to be talked about. Just ignore it and move on. There are some things that you probably want to respond to.

You took loans, so? There are some debts that Nigeria is still paying for over twenty, thirty years ago. We’re still paying some of those debts. So what is the big deal? At the end of the day we’ll see whose integrity is being tarnished.

The reality: A country with a bad economy and low purchasing power, may give most companies in Nigeria, a hard time making alot of money. Therefore, how realistic can it be for a trading company or an LLC to generate a billion naira + in profit, pay salaries, pay utility bills and taxes and still have a huge profit after tax to fund an American standard lifestyle right here in Nigeria?


A two cent opinion: The Hermes bag purchase is likely exaggerated, and too heavy an amount for a successful individual in a Nigerian economy.


This pattern of luxury, has been recorded in the Nigerian economy multiple times in real-estate acquisitions, automobile acquisitions and elitist lifestyle in general. The internet is documented daily with Nigerians displaying constant wealth that create a cognitive dissonance. It's been noted that substantial number of times, lifestyles displayed on social media by Nigerians are not real.


There's a likely trend in Nigeria, called "The Show Business", and it simply means - the business of performing for an audience to make them see what you want them to see. There goes a saying, "fake it till you make it" - and certainly, Nigerians have capitalized on this for status reasons.


The scripted lifestyle of performative Nigerians otherwise known as "Influencers", lure novices into believing - and when these novices get influenced by the social media performances and trends, they often work twice harder than the actual performers, just to meet up financially and become online billionaires overnight in their dreams probably. These "wannabes" will continue this trail of performances until they see what truly happens behind the curtains.


Historically, black men have always been competitive since the time of high racial discrimination in the world. This inferiority-complex culture brought about dressing to impress others and lavish lifestyles, as seen in hiphop videos, and all was to prove a point to the white people - "that they can equally be as great as the whites".


The "notice me" culture continues to exist in black America and the diaspora but the dynamics are much different now as the competition for attention is intra-racial (blacks competing against blacks).


In conclusion, there are indeed wealthy Nigerians who can afford luxury however, the strong indicators for determining a person's spending power is their personal annual income, business revenue, company size, number of businesses and the status of the economy where their businesses operate.


Whether Margaret Obi could afford a N100 million hand bag or a N200,000 handbag, is totally up to her and her accountant to decide.
