Depends on ur ssce subject combination..like applying for grp in the sciences will require u having chem, physics, geography and oda subjects..while in the social science this are xcluded..xcept for geography..gud luck!

Advise: to those of u that knw dat ur parents are incapable to pay a huge sum for tuition fee its better u seek other means of admission o..cos the currently intake(100l) who were unable to meet up the stipulated time for the closure of payment are going home(thousands)..and mind u those dat are in 200-400 and haven't pay wen d payment closed yesterday are going to repeat...so its worthy of note that school fees starts from 105k...290k....instance law goes for 190 indigene, medicine 250k, and non 290k..social science 114 and 130k, mangement 140k and 170k...the system is strict now o.

Looking at the contribution of some scholars to sociology..

Auguste Comte(1798-1857)

Auguste comte was a french philosopher and sociologist..was the founder of sociology, which he at a time called science of social engineering(social physics)..his quest was to bring all other social sciences under one umbrella. However, he propounded positivism. A method that can be used to study the society..he was the proponent of the famous theory "structural functionalism" which is used to analyse large scale social structures and institutions..he came about this as a result of his quest to return order to the society. This is because he was a witness of the french revolution..he also postulated the laws of three stages..according to the great comte, the society and the human mind has evolved through three stages: the theological, the metaphysical, and the empirical...theological wen a man is a staunch believer, religion decides..metaphysical, the stage of great thinking and finally empirical wen a man has grown into a philosopher..

Herbert spencer (1820-1903)

He was an english philosopher, and sociologist. Who was born in derby, England..he is fondly called the english version of the great Aristotle. His impact in sociology was enormous..he is notable for his work "survival of the fittest" which he borrowed from the great biologist charles darwin. That is, social darwinism "theory of natural selection"..herbert spencer made use of this phrase to emphasize that the rich are rich becos they worked hard for it and that the poor av been poor becos they are lazy..so therefore the rich shud not render help to the poor becos it is wrong to do so. That the weak and unfit should be allowed to die out while the strong and vibrant will survive. Anoda of his contribution is the organismic theory he borrowed from biology..which believes an organism is constitutes an interrelated parts working together for the perfect functioning of the organism as a whole. And dat any part dat fails to perform its role will endanger the overall performance of the organism this he applied to the society, saying all structures in the society works together for the betterment of the society as a whole dat any dysfunction in any of the parts will threaten the performance of the society

Now is the time to start preparing hard for postume, even wen the statistics provided by jamb to the public says the performance of students this year is better-of last year's. We all knw that it is nothing but a blatant lie. I checked the results of over 20 students, and wht I could see was below 180..this is to tell you that admission has now become even more of a "survival of the fittest" where the unfit or the weak is believed to be left out of the system rather dan help and make a social reform..if u re among those that attained 180 and above believe me u re lucky, and its just a step ahead. Having passed jamb is not the real deal, but getting admission is..there is no difference btw a person that scored 280 and still didn't av his/her admission into the university. And someone who failed jamb honorably...if u re applying for admission in the social sciences(pol, sociology, ILR, psychology, transport, accounting, banking & fin, etc) these are wht u need: 2013 current affairs, work on ur mathematics(not technical part, just basics), english lo ba tan..then the sciences shud read dere chemistry, physics..these Words are enough for the smart

kunleee: well,to start with, the level of your use of sociological terms are really commendable.kudos.mr onabanjo(ok nw Dr onabanjo) came in when we are in 300l,we are his first class then and he spoilt all our result by making it categorically that no one would score A in his subject.He is really tough then but later heard that he too join the causus of arrangement.sociology has alwys being dominating not only in the department but also all over other social sciences.i gbadun mr aluko,i alwys had atleast B in his courses but dont knw why he still at mr level.

It is worthy of note that this great thinkers Auguste comte (1798-1857) and Herbert Spencer(1820-1903) established the discipline of sociology..their attempt to analyze and highlight strategies for attaining social order culminated in the emergence of the discipline "Sociology". However its worthy of note that the knowledge of sociology as a discipline is founded upon three theories..organismic, evolution, and conflict theories.
