The point of this thread is that when a Yoruba man was to be president, it was an Igbo man who came to his support rather than the Yoruba nation who were comfortable to have their Regional Governor slaughtered and their most senior officer chased away, just because it was Northerners

The coups of the 1960s were purely tribal . Igbos in January 1966 and a return fixture by the Abokis in July 1966. So , don't compare with Dimka and Orkar . foolish people... First, there's nothing like "President" in the military era. Ogundipe never participated in the coup, Ojukwu never participated in the coup. How dare Ojukwu, a non coup player ask another non coup player to assume the seat of power without the permission of the coupists?. Both Ojukwu and Ogundipe were military men, so they understand the rules of engagement in a coup. The coup was purely a northern coup and their intentions was as clear as daylight. A coup is not a superiority contest whereby the most senior assume the seat of power. Every head of States was a Mastermind of a coup, Ogundipe was never one and cannot make himself a head of state without the coup plotters who had seized all the machinery of government. This was exactly how Ojukwu pushed millions of ibos into their untimely death.

By the way , immediately after the counter coup in July 1966, the cantekerous coward osu Jew Ojukwu ran away from the regional headquarter in Enugu to go hide in Onitsha in a police station.

He was scared for his life and rightly so because the majority of rifle wielding soldiers in the Eastern region were of Northern origin .

I'm surprised my fellow Osu Muslim brother from Anambra that opened this thread wanted Ogundepo whose orders were being flatly rejected by rank and file Northern soldiers in the immediate aftermath of the counter coup to assume leadership of a military that had lost it and was headed for the rocks .

And in fact Aguiyi Ironsi was still missing coupled with the fact that the Northern officers had wholly succeeded with their counter coup and were chanting Araba in anticipation for their secession from Nigeria .

It's shameful my fellow Igbo Muslim brothers would want Ogundepo to assume leadership in such circumstances .

Lastly , if Azikwe and NCNC had agreed with Awolowo/Enahoro/AG to insert a secession clause during the constitutional conference in London , the coup my fellow Igbo Muslims, Jews and Christian organized in January 1966 wouldn't have been necessary .

Conclusively , Igbos are the cause of the current failed status of Nigeria.
They derailed our nacent democracy in January 1966 and led us to a needless war that we are yet to recover from till date.
