The Osun State gubernatorial election petition re-trial tribunal led by Justice Alli Garba concludes its assigment today, palpable fear has gripped the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition, Action Congress (AC) over which way the verdict will swing.

The court had ruled that the first tribunal led by the Justice Thomas Naron failed to accept all the necessary documents during the trial and therefore ordered a retrial.

It would be recalled that the flag bearer of the AC, Rauf Aregbesola, had dragged Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola to the tribunal , claiming that Oyinlola did not win the 2007 governorship election in the state.

Osun State Police Command had deployed over 10,000 mobile policemen to mount strategic points in the state to avoid unnecessary outbreak of violence in the state. Speaking at a meeting with all the political parties in the state yesterday, State Police Commissioner, Mr. Solomon Olusegun, warned the political parties, particularly PDP and AC to keep to the rule and avoid unnecessary political bitterness.

This is another test for Goodluck in his pursuance of true electoral reforms. I hope a deserved victory will be recorded.
