Computers › Re: Checklist Before Buying A Uk-used Laptop In Nigeria — What Do You Check? by Yemon(m): 9:30pm On May 05 |
Flesh10: I sell direct foreign used laptops in computer village ikeja and often time I try to educate my customers
I don't only sell laptop as a business, I studied computer science, practiced as a web developer, IT support and network administrator for some years before switching to full time business, so when I advise customers I know exactly what I am saying both from theoretical, practical and business views but it's unfortunate that sometimes some customers are the cause of their own problem
When you come to my store and you don't really know what you want, the first question I ask is what program will you be running with it or can you tell me the kind of software you will be running frequently. That is to enable me advice you properly but many atimes some customers ignorantly insists on something else.
I had a situation where a lady that was about to enrol for a multimedia program that requires heavy graphics and GPU rendering and she walked in to my store with her dad . I showed her the pc she asked for (one beautiful, foldable HP ) and while she was going through it, I asked ma, do you mind telling me what kind of programmes you will be running frequently and she said Adobe premiere pro, Revit etc and immediately I told her that, the laptop she needs is one with a GPU not this... I preached and preached but she insisted. I knew it was a disaster waiting to happen so I refused to proceed with the sale and they went to another store. As usual the other vendor sold and it didn't take beyond two months that pc crashed, the board died and when they went back to the seller, it was too late cos warranty had pass.
They came back to my store and still bought the one I recommended with regrets for the money they wasted.
Also sometimes customers make mistakes with processor speed. You will see a customer reject a 10th generation laptop or 8th generation laptop because 1.19ghz is displayed as processor speed and instead opt for a 6th or 7th generation laptop that usually comes with 2.71ghz speed.
Some you try to educate them but they will insist on buying the 7th gen with 2.71ghz but failing to understand that 6th and 7th gen laptops run on dual core processors (2 cores) while 8th to 11th gen run on quad core (4 cores) it's like two people (6th and 7th gen) working on a field and on same size field 4 people are working on it. Who do you think will be faster and efficient?
Also 8th gen upwards have lower speed displayed because that is their base speed but the catch is that they are designed to turbo boost beyond 3.5 to 4.9ghz speed almost double the max speed of those 7th or 6th gen.
Purchasing a good system depends on deep knowledge and a sincere seller.
Do your due diligence before stepping out because you can see a beautiful and neat pc but you may be buying the wrong specs for yourself and the seller will not tell you. God bless you for being honest and your professionalism. You are a good Nigerian. |

Sports › Re: Senegal Lodges Appeal Against CAF Decision by Yemon(m): 1:50pm On Mar 18 |
geoworldedu: All black African countries should boycott next Afcon. Let's see what CAF will do in that regard.
If the decision of the referee to continue the match can be overturned after match was played, then it means all the mistakes of referees can be overturned after matches na. For example, NFF should file for a challenge against AFCON 2000 result where Ikpeba's goal was disallowed. They should count the goal and then we should go back to the field against Cameroon and finish that match.
If referee did not cancel the match, it's the referee that should have been penalised rather than altering result of the game. Exactly my thoughts.Blame the referee for continuing the match not Senegal. |

Patriotic9ja: The point she said, "you can make lots of money abroad and come open hospital here..." got me. That's the sad truth. Accountability is low here, no regulation, no system to hold operators accountable for malpractices and negligence. We don't investigate to know root causes. You will here, "e don happen, it's the will of God, in everything let's give thanks to God....." etc. That's how we create rooms for reoccurrence. Many health practitioners and hospitals should have lost their licences by now if we are doing the right thing. And leading to low mortality and increased professionalism. Because like they say "Consequences motivate BEHAVIOUR" Well said, the govt should start acting against such doctors and their facilities. At times we behave funny by saying "na so God want am"as in how now? |
