It is not everybody that works for £10 an hour in London some hustlers take jobs for less and you can't blame them.. Anybody you see working a 10k work in Nigeria is dependent on someone most likely someone earning a minimum wage or more from business or petty trading just as most civil servants in Nigeria do have side hustles.

In London the pay is high but what you pay for goods and services is higher compared to Nigeria which makes the money almost worthless for them there its more like you having to work yourself out to sustain even buying those kind of food in the basket compared to when it is brought here to Nigeria to be spent then the money is big but here the pay is not high but it buys the same thongs with lesser effort to earn the money...I hope you get it sha

I gerrit

Btw, I'm not coming to London

I'm posting this as a response to the topic that made Nairaland front page yesterday; "See What Someone Bought With An Hour Minimum Wage In The UK £10", the link: https://www.nairaland.com/7929193/see-what-someone-bought-hour

UK & US ARE OVER-RATED NIGERIA IS STILL BETTER in terms of cost of living see a practical example why doing a price comparison: 1 pound to 1 naira today is N1,001 so are you saying with £10 x N1,001 = N10,001 you cannot buy everything in that basket and collect change in Nigeria today?

1 Sliced Bread = N800
2 Spaghetti = N1400
1 Gesha = N600
1 live chicken = N3,000
1 75cl soya Oil = N1,400
1 Midium size Butter = N600
2 Gino Tomato paste = N1,000

Total = N8,800 so your change is N1,200 that's if you exchange pound to naira at offical rate and buying at the most expensive stores or high brands. If you exchange at black market rate and buy at public market "days" you will collect as much as N6,000 after buying everything in that basket....that's about £6 left.

LET'S JUST THANK GOD FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND STOP LOOKING AT AND GLORIFYING ANOTHER MAN'S LAND MORE THAN OUR OWN....OUR OWN NA OUR OWN O

1 live chicken @3k na for your dream boss

That 10k na some people's salary at the end of the month (Go n verify my claims from private school teachers)

£10 is more than 10k naira & it's for 1hr work not even full day not to talk of 1month

I love Nigeria but let's call spade a spade

skultrick:
Chicken that I bought right in my neighborhood is what you writing all this long epistle.

By the way, I don’t know where you buy live chicken for 14k. I have never bought chicken for more than 10k, and no matter how big it is, I will not pay for any chicken more than 10k.

Be ready to buy local fowl

Nazgul:
My dear you're the one talking nonsense. Do you know how much chicken feed is sold? The prices has tripled in the last 6 months.

Do you know the cost of training a chick to market size?

Most poultry farmers today are barely managing to keep their head afloat in the business, and someone is saying he bought live chicken N6,500 in this economy.

Unless it's in a remote village where the chickens were raised locally, if it's in a city like Lagos, I'll tell you that it's a lie from the pit of hell.

You get it

It surprised me that a whole chicken sold for 6500 because of feed now is on high side. To be honest, cheapest amount for healthy broiler chicken this Christmas will not be less than 10,000 except the one fed with some super grow drugs

Men are no longer men anymore. Weak and timid. So emotionally ridden.

Our forebearers will be turning in their graves with much disappointment to see the numbers of weak emotional ridden dingbats calling themselves men walking now in the world.

How much is foreign rice?

No country is self sufficient of their need so we need to stop receiving ourselves
.
South West of Nigeria has the best herbs & roots in the world so if America tries to plant same herbs/roots on their land, it will not grow
