How is that a lame excuse how much do you think they sell those bullet proof SUV? Now go find how much those cars are worth without bullet proof . Please do you know how many soldiers have died because they didn't have the right bullet proof cars or don't you think they are entitled to one too.
Dude, I'm purely against him having 12 brand new cars.. 5 BP for that matter

About my last statement, what I'm saying is that the DSS should have done a deeper investigation... Atleast they shouldn't have realeased a press statement just yet till they have ENOUGH incriminating evidence against him, else this would be seen as a political witch hunt by the PDP.

PoliticsService Chiefs Assume Office Today by Yhunoos(op): 10:21am On Jul 16, 2015
By Soni Daniel

Abuja New Service Chiefs who were named by President Muhammadu Buhari last Monday are set to assume office today, according to sources close to the military hierarchy in Abuja.

The new service chiefs who were appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari, are, Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin; Chief of Army Staff, Maj.Gen. T.Y. Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan.

It is the tradition of the military for all the service chiefs and the Chief of Defence Staff to take over the same day.

A top military source told out correspondent that the men of the Armed Forces were involved in a drill rehearsal in preparation for today’s change of guard.

The exercises held at the Defence Headquarters, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force.

The source said that even though, such exercises were observed in one of the services, it was his belief that all the exercises were involved in similar preparations.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sami Usman confirmed the handing over of the service chiefs in a late evening text message on Wednesday.

He said that the outgoing Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, would hand over to his successor, Maj. Gen. Yukur Buratai, by 11am on Thursday.

PoliticsEx-Service Chiefs To Be Investigated Over Buhari’s 'Missing' Certificate by Yhunoos(op): 7:36am On Jul 16, 2015
Some of the Service Chiefs fired on Monday are to be investigated over some allegations, The Nation has learnt.

Among the allegations are:

•mismanagement of funds for operations; and

•alleged disappearance of the President’s Secondary School Certificate from military records.

Some retired military officers are said to be pushing for the revisit of the row over President Muhammadu Buhari’s certificate.

It was learnt that security reports indicated that some of the Service Chiefs were allegedly “reckless” in office.

One of the sacked military chiefs was noted for “enjoying himself to the fullest”. Another spent a fortune on wrist-watches and acquired property.

There has been some disquiet in military circles over the allegation that some of the military chiefs substantially benefited from an Abuja housing scheme meant for middle-level officers.

A unit of the houses costs about N7 million, which military officers were asked to pay under three months.

Since most of them could not raise the N7 million per unit, some Service Chiefs were said to have taken “undue advantage” to corner appreciable units.

According to sources, there was a  discreet preliminary investigation of the activities some of the Service Chiefs before they were asked to go on Monday.

The preliminary findings may set the stage for a comprehensive investigation, it was learnt.
A highly-placed source said: “I think the government will certainly look into the activities of some Service Chiefs

“Among the former Service Chiefs, it was known to all that one of them used to buy wrist-watches worth about $300,000 to $500,000 at will for whoever he liked while in office.

“This is outside curious spending on unnecessary overhead. The situation was that bad. You can see why we are celebrating their exit in the barracks.

“As a matter of fact, one or two of the Service Chiefs indirectly funded the campaign activities of a party in their states through their proxies.

“In fact, there is a case of a former Service Chief who was ‘crazy’ with acquisition of property in Abuja for himself and his relations.”

The Nation learnt that “a fresh lead” would force a revisit of the Buhari Secondary School Certificate row.

It was gathered that the alleged ‘dislocation’ of the certificate from the President’s file is likely to be investigated to give the public the “other side” of what really transpired just before the general elections when the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that Buhari had no certificate.

A military source said: “Some respected but retired military officers are demanding a probe of the circumstances behind the certificate saga because it created a division in the military. These aggrieved officers have insisted that credentials of every military officer are always in their files.

“There is a fresh lead that the President’s file might have suffered some mutilation or misplacement. While some claimed that the certificate had been misplaced since the 1980s, others alleged mutilation as a result of some political factors.

“Some military officers alleged that the certificate might have got lost in transit when the military was relocating from Lagos to Abuja in the 1990s.

“The essence of the investigation is to set the records straight and put issues in the right perspective.

PoliticsHow States Can Avoid Economic Crisis – Osinbajo by Yhunoos(op): 10:25pm On Jul 15, 2015
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has listed steps state governments must take to avoid economic crisis, requiring Federal Government’s intervention again.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, on Wednesday quoted Osinbajo as giving the ways out during an interactive session he held with Nigerians based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Vice President said the state governments  must do more to increase internally generated revenue.

He also urged  them to put workers salaries in the first line charge in their expenditure.

Besides, he stated the need for states to clean up their payrolls to ensure that ghost workers were eliminated.

Another plan he disclosed is to ensure that all state governments have a vibrant Debt Management Office, while ensuring a general atmosphere of transparency and accountability in their public expenditures.

Osinbajo told the gathering that a new Nigeria was emerging, which would require the commitment of all Nigerians.

He said, “There is so much hope and expectations. A new Nigeria is happening, we are going to see a new Nigeria.

“The reason why I am so convinced is because everyone of us, one way or the other, believe that there should be a change.

“I am not saying those who voted for President Muhammadu Buhari and myself only, even if it was the other government, everyone of us expected some kind of change.”

Osinbajo said Nigeria deserved the best and did not deserve what it had got for so many years.

PoliticsPresident Buhari Says Radio Biafra Lied Against Him by Yhunoos(op): 9:16pm On Jul 15, 2015
Claims that President Buhari made anti-Igbo comments during an interview on the BBC Hausa Service are lies, according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu.

by Sahara Reporters, New YorkJul 15, 2015

Pres. Muhammadu BuhariTolu Jinadu
Claims that President Buhari made anti-Igbo comments during an interview on the BBC Hausa Service are lies, according to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Garba Shehu.

The recent accusations were made on the pirate radio station Radio Biafra, which was supposedly shut down by the Nigerian government two days ago. However, the latest reports say that the radio station continues to broadcast in the southern part of Nigeria.

According to the statement Radio Biafra’s broadcast was “completely false, malicious, and slanderous.”

The statement added that, “the voice being ascribed to President Buhari in the recording repeatedly played back by the pirate radio station is definitely not the President's and the claim that the station got the recording from a BBC interview is totally untrue.”

According to Mr. Shehu, “The BBC Hausa Service Editor, Mr. Mansor Liman has distanced the BBC from the false interview clip being ascribed by the pirate radio station to President Buhari.”

The full statement can be read below:

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
CLAIM THAT PRESIDENT BUHARI EXPRESSED ANTI-IGBO SENTIMENTS IN BBC INTERVIEW COMPLETELY FALSE AND MALICIOUS

The claim by a pirate radio station that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed anti-Igbo sentiments in a recent interview with the BBC Hausa Service is completely false, malicious and slanderous.

The voice being ascribed to President Buhari in the recording repeatedly played back by the pirate radio station is definitely not the President's and the claim that the station got the recording from a BBC interview is totally untrue.

No one should be deceived by the pirate radio station's hate propaganda against the President.

President Buhari has not had any interview with the BBC's Hausa Service since his assumption of office as alleged by the agents of disunity behind the pirate radio station's inflammatory and divisive broadcasts.

The last interview he had with the BBC Hausa Service, lasting not more than five minutes, was on the day he was declared winner and given his certificate of return as President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Thankfully, the BBC Hausa Service Editor, Mr. Mansor Liman has distanced the BBC from the false interview clip being ascribed by the pirate radio station to President Buhari.

President Buhari is the President of all Nigerians and will continue to treat all citizens on the basis of fairness, equality and equity.

Nigerians should therefore ignore all propaganda designed to sow seeds of discord among them and promote a separatist agenda against national unity, solidarity and progress.

PoliticsPUNCH: Parties Won’t Share Senate Committees Equally – Saraki Group by Yhunoos(op): 6:14am On Jul 15, 2015
Loyalists of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday allayed the fears of the All Progressives Congress caucus in the senate over the ammendments made to the Senate Rules 2015, which provide for the spread of chairmanship and membership of standing committees across the six geopolitical zones irrespective of their political party affiliation.

The group under the aegis of “The Senators of Like Minds,” explained that the fact that the rule stipulated that the chairmanship and membership of committees must accommodate the six geopolitical zones did not mean that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party would have equal opportunities like the majority party, the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking to our correspondent in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, the leader of the pro – Saraki group, Senator Dino Melaye, called for calm among his colleagues in the red chamber over the issue because there was no cause for alarm.

He also assured members of the Senate Unity Forum, who are loyalists of Senator Ahmad Lawan, that they would all be carried along in the allocation of committees because Saraki, being a nationalist, would not be vindictive.

Melaye said, “The fact that the Senate Standing Order 2015 provides that the chairmanship and membership of the 57 committees be spread across the six geopolitical zones does not mean that the leadership of the Senate will allocate its committees equally among the senators, irrespective of political party affiliation.

“The word ‘equally’ was not used in the senate rule 2015 as amended. So, there is no cause for alarm.
The provision of the amended rule does not say ‘equally’ and there is no way that the majority party will have the same number of committee chairs with the opposition party. It is not possible, but everybody will be carried along.

“I also want to assure members of the Senate Unity Forum that Senator Bukola Saraki is not a vindictive person. I am speaking as the leader of the Senators of Like Minds.

“The senate president is a nationalist, and all members of the senate are his colleagues irrespective of political party affiliation or divide.”

It will be recalled that some APC senators who were not in support of the leadership of Saraki in the upper chamber had expressed concern that the current plan by the 8th Senate to adopt the provisions of the controversial ammendments made to the Senate Rules in the allocation of committee chairmanship to senators, would lead to a fresh crisis in the red chamber.

Our correspondent learnt that there could be a drastic departure from senate tradition, regarding the allocation of committee chairmanship as members of the majority party, the APC, and those of the PDP, might share the positions equally.

Investigations by our correspondent have revealed that the controversial ammendments made to the Senate Rules 2015, have made it mandatory for the leadership of the upper chamber to share headship of the committees equally among the six geopolitical zones.

A federal court in Abuja has granted former Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, and his two sons, bail.

They are to be released from prison once the bail conditions are met.
Mr. Lamido and his sons are facing money laundering charges, brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

They were arraigned last week in Kano, and were later remanded pending their bail application hearing on September 28.

The Lamidos were however transferred secretly to Kuje prison in Abuja on Monday, ahead of a hearing Tuesday, after another judge was assigned to consider the bail application.

Details later.
