A pregnant woman died Saturday evening as a result of an auto accident that occurred at Lamenco Area of Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

A truck popularly referred to tipper, with registration number FNN 364 XA, loaded with sand was heading towards stadium on the West bye pass before its break failed as it approached the sloppy Lamenco roundabout.

According to an eye witness, Mathew Alalade, the tipper crushed a commercial motorcyclists with the two passengers on the bike.

He said the two passengers, a male and female died on the spot while the motorcyclists was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Another source, Wale Okiki corroborated that the tipper lost it break while it was approaching the roundabout and was left with no choice that to use the median as a barrier but unfortunately the motorcyclists had gotten to the spot.

He added that apart from the motorcyclists and the passengers crushed by the tipper, it also smashed another Nissan Premere vehicle, with registration number EJG 581 AA, that was negotiating the bend.

Wale said, “The tipper lost it break and was struggling to stop the car but failed, he was attempting to climb the wall of the roundabout when he crushed the commercial motorcyclists with the two passengers on it.

The rider and a female passenger died on the spot while another male passenger was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The incident resulted into traffic until the Osun State Ambulance Service arrived the scene to evacuate the bodies and the survivor to the hospital”.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Public Health, Pharmacist Siji Olamiju said the incident involved five persons, three on the motorcycle and two persons in the Nissan vehicle.

He said two persons, a young lady and motorcyclists died on the spot, while the other woman who was pregnant was rushed to the state hospital, where she was eventually died.

For fast rising actress, Olive Isioma Utalor, she’s hopeful that her ex-lover would come back as soon as he is ready to give her a royal treat.

According to the History and International Relations graduate of Ebonyi State University, though, her guy loved her so much; she had to dump him because he couldn’t take very good care of her.

Utalor talks more about her career and relationship in this interview. Enjoy it.

Can you tell us more about yourself?

I’m Olive Isioma Utalor from Delta State. I was born on October 28, 1993. I studied History and International Relations at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. Currently, I am doing my Masters in Peace Keeping and Conflict Resolution.

How long have you been acting?

I’m still an up and coming actor even though I have done some good movies. I came into the industry four years ago, but I started acting when I was in school. I was traveling for auditions in Enugu and Asaba, but two years ago, I decided to move to Asaba, that was when I came into Nollywood fully. It has not been easy but God has always been faithful.

Why the choice of acting as a career?

I used to partake in church drama back at my local church when I was a bit younger, and it was actually fun how people usually referred to me by my stage name after the show. That drew my mind to the fact that, while being yourself, you can still be someone else on the screen. During my early teens, I used to display some acts in front of the mirror for at least two hours daily. Later, I started eating and dreaming about movies. So, that explained while I chose this line of career.

How many movies have featured you so far?

I cannot count how many movies but I’ve featured in several movies including Wasted Authority, Moment of Madness, Charity, Hope of Glory, Cursed, Blood Enemies, Loving Soul, Yahoo King, My Pregnant Daughter, Our Heritage and more.

What were your early days like?

The early days of my acting were rough but the love and passion I had for the job brought me here. I had discouragement from lots of people but the passion was the fuel that took me higher.

Did you have any embarrassing encounter?

There is no human being without embarrassing moment. I get lots of reactions from fans daily. I remember playing a wicked role in the movie, Moment of Madness and I went to the market to pick some items. The lady from whom I was buying the items treated me badly. I was so ashamed of myself. The lady said a lot of bad things about me in retaliation to how I treated someone in the movie. I was so sad; her action spoilt my week.

Did you also experience any sexual harassment?

For now, I have not had any experience of sexual harassment.

You’re curvy and beautiful, how do you deal with male fans lusting after your body?

I love my fans and I can’t chase them away. I know I am beautiful with nice curves in the right places, so they will always come around me. But I can’t be in two different places at the same time. So, handling such fans is not a major problem for me.

Aside acting, what else do you do?

I’m still in school doing my Masters. But aside acting, my best moment is in the kitchen.

Are you planning to open an eatery?

I’ll do so someday by God’s grace.

Are you in a serious relationship at the moment?

I have always been a low-key person in terms of relationship. I broke up with my guy because he couldn’t take very good care of me. Though, he loves me, I need a perfect man.

Perfect man? Please explain better.

Like I always say, any lady that walks out on you when you have nothing; loves you. Just that poverty won’t let you understand. I left my boyfriend for him to level up and I know he would come back to me, because he loves me so much.

What gives you the confidence that he would come back to you?

Because I know he loves me and I am special to him. Nobody has my smile, I’m special and unique in everything I do.

But you left him…?

I am not denying my love for him. The very beginning of the relationship was magical. Everything went on well as he supported my dreams and became a solid backbone to me financially. Every woman would dream of such kind of man. But the tide of life has changed and I had to change with it.

Since you love him this much and you know he loves you as well, why didn’t you stick with him and help him succeed?

Sometimes love needs to be appreciated so it can blossom and give benefits in return. He is a good man but I need to be treated royally because I am a queen. Mind you, I supported him with my prayers or what kind of support is bigger than that? Sometimes, I fast for seven days in a stretch for him, so what other kind of support does anyone need to be successful?

Can you go into any relationship at the moment or you want to wait till he comes back for you?

Of course, I can. We are not married yet. All I am saying is that he won’t be comfortable with another lady just like he was with me.

What kind of man would you tag as husband material?

A God fearing and hardworking man who has everything that a woman wants. I need someone who is able to provide for me and defend me. He must be rich, caring and polite. He may not be famous but he must possess good sense of humour.

The Head of Corporate Affairs of Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Mr. Temi Kolawole has debunked allegations that five directors of the revenue have turned in their resignation with the intention of exiting the service with the Executive Chairman, Prof. Muritala Awodun.
Awodun’s tenure is billed to end September 2019.
This is contained in a statement made available to Pilot Business on Tuesday.

“That information is misleading. Mr Segun Olaniyi has retired due to attaining the age of 60 in January with the expiration of a 6 month extension on July 15

“However, the four other directors have given the Service notifications of expiration of their four year tenure, which will be due in September 2019.
The directors are; the Director of Administration and Operations, Mrs Adenike Babajamu, Director of MDAs, Mr Lekan Rotimi, Director of Corporate Affairs Alhaji Laide Nuhu Muhammad and Director of other revenues, Alhaja Iyabo Abubakar.

Nine days after The PUNCH‘s report on ailing former Falconets goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko, the House of Representatives has asked the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development to take care of her medical bills.

The PUNCH had on June 24 reported that Aluko was down with breast cancer in 2017 while playing for Rivers Angels in the Nigerian Women’s Premier League.

The retired keeper said the ailment forced her to quit football.

On Wednesday, the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, following a unanimous adoption of a motion during plenary, also asked the ministry to seek better medical attention for Aluko in India or Israel.

The motion was brought under matters of Urgent Public Importance by Ibrahim Olanrewaju, a representative from Ekiti State, where Aluko hails from.

The lawmaker warned that if urgent medical attention was not given to Aluko within the shortest possible time, her health might deteriorate and lead to her untimely death.

He said, “Bidemi once played football for Sunshine Queens of Akure and the FCT Queens of Abuja as a goalkeeper and helped one of the clubs to the third position in the Women’s National League in 2009.

“She was also part of the Nigerian under-17 women’s football team popularly known as the Flamingoes in 2010. Bidemi went on to be among the 25 players known as the Falconets, who represented Nigeria in South Korea.

“She underwent mastectomy on her left breast and has since then undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy. Bidemi also had 12 rounds of radiation treatment, costing her family millions of naira in the process.

“After all these treatments, Bidemi started to feel pains and her doctor has recommended another higher chemotherapy treatment.

“The painful aspect of it all now is the fact that she and her family do not have the financial capacity to shoulder the financial burden of the said medical attention.’’

When contacted, Bidemi hailed the lawmakers for their support, saying, “This is amazing. I cant’t believe that this is happening. Thank God.”

The House of Representatives is geared to pass the Nigerian Peace Corps (Establishment) Bill following latest development.

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, unanimously passed a resolution to recommit the Nigerian Peace Corps (Establishment) Bill to the Committee of the Whole, for passage.

The Nigerian Peace Corps Bill, which was recently re-gazetted as HB. 17 was re-introduced and sponsored by the Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Tahir Monguno.

The reintroduced Bill passed First Reading in the House of Representatives July 3, 2019.

Leading a debate on the motion on Wednesday, Hon. Monguno said, the move to reconsider the Bill in the Committee of the Whole was in pursuant to Order 12, Rule 16 of the Standing Order of the House, which prescribed that, a Bill passed by the previous Assembly, “upon being re-gazetted or clean copies circulated, be reconsidered in the Committee of the Whole without being commenced de-novo”.

The Nigerian Peace Corps Bill, which was overwhelmingly passed by both Chambers of the 8th National Assembly, is to give statutory backing to the existing Peace Corps of Nigeria, with a core mandate to “Develop, Empower and provide gainful Employment for the youths, facilitate Peace, Volunteerism, Community Services, Neighbourhood watch and Nation-building; and for other Related Matters”.

While reacting to the re-introduction of the Bill, National Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Dr Dickson Akoh, on behalf of the Organisation, expressed his gratitude to the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and the entire Members of the House of Representatives, for the decision to revisit the Bill.

Dr Akoh who spoke to our reporter on phone, urged members of the organisation to be patient and remain steadfast, as he is very optimistic that the Bill will see the light of the day this time around.

He said the main reservation raised by President Muhammad Buhari in withholding assent to the Bill has been adequately addressed.

The Bill shall be passed in the next legislative attempt, after clause-by-clause considerations at the Committee of the Whole.

Hours after Tacha got back into the house with Seyi following their fake eviction on Sunday, she had a heart-to-heart conversation with Mike over their stand-off on Saturday.

We reported earlier that after Tacha got back into the house, Mike told her that a part of him and other housemates were excited that she left. He added that he hopes that all that happened taught her to be humble.

However during their private conversation which ended up in apologies from both sides, Tacha told Mike that it’s quite unfair for him to ask her to become another person. Tacha recounted some challenges that made her become who she is perceived to be, but promised to become a better person. She also apologized to Mike for disrespecting him.
