More competition coming as soon as more refineries are built

There’s a 250,000 bpd refinery under construction in Ogun State and there are several others coming up

Crude Oil production will also surpass 2m bpd for the first time in a long time next year

PoliticsAbducted Ondo Pastor, Wife, Kids Regain Freedom by yoruboid(op): 8:31pm On Dec 29, 2024
Abducted Anglican priest, Canon Olowolagba, who was kidnapped alongside his wife, and two children has regained freedom.

The family was kidnapped on Sunday, December 22, along Ise Akoko-Iboropa road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Earlier, the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Babajide Bada, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said the abductors demanded N75m ransom.

Bada said, “The unfortunate incident happened on Sunday between 4 pm and 5:30 pm. The man involved is Reverend Olowolagba. He was travelling from Ipesi with his wife, Mrs Olowolagba, and their 16-year-old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a 100-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko, who came for a holiday, and a nine-year-old girl staying with them, identified as Idowu.

“They drove from Ipesi through Isua Akoko; they were kidnapped between Isua and Ise-Akoko. We did not know about the incident until the following morning when their members discovered that they didn’t get to Ikaram, where they were going, as they were not also at home.

“Since then, those who kidnapped them have been calling. They earlier called to ask for N10m, but when we gathered some money to give to them, they changed the amount to N75m. That is why the victims are still in captivity.”

However, the family was released by their captors late Saturday.

Though details of their release were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, the commander of state Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that the family had regained their freedom.

“The pastor and family have been released,” Adeleye said.

Orizu was arrested at the boarding gate of the Abuja airport on Sunday, December 22, 2024 during the outward clearance of passengers on Air France.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested a 48-year-old businessman, Orizu Ifeanyi Arthur, while attempting to board an Air France flight 844 from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to Paris, France for ingesting 74 wraps of heroin and cocaine.

Orizu was arrested at the boarding gate of the Abuja airport on Sunday, December 22, 2024 during the outward clearance of passengers on Air France, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said in a statement on Sunday.

Babafemi said, “When he was pulled aside for body scan, he turned down the request claiming his medical condition won’t allow him.

“He was thereafter taken into custody for excretion observation during which he excreted a total of 74 wraps of the Class A drugs over a period of seven days.

“In his statement, Orizu claimed he owns a shop at Balogun market, Lagos Island where he sells school and travelling bags, adding that he was promised 3,000 Euros upon successful delivery of the consignment in Paris. Believe that farm story at your own peril

God bless the leaders of Yorubaland for their foresight and for making Lagos a world class city since Tinubu started the repositioning in 1999 following decades of neglect

Now she can board a metro, work in a Free Trade Zone that has a refinery, deep sea port and hundreds of other factories

Now she can live in Eko Atlantic which was reclaimed from the sea because Jagaban conceived a better way of taming the Atlantic instead of pouring sand worth billions every year

God bless Yorubaland

President Tinubu has promised to make a business out of cattle rearing and he is doing just that

Already in Brazil he got an investment commitment of $2.5bn and two weeks ago the investors were in Ogun State

I believe Oyo State also should partner with the Brazilians as it has enough arable land for ranching

Ekiti has one of the best ranches I’ve seen in this country run by Promasidor at Ikun Diary Farm

Oyo State also has a ranch run by Friesland (the pictures are below)

These are ranches that should be expanded on

PoliticsLagos & Yorubas Are Blessed by yoruboid(op): 1:21pm On Dec 24, 2024
I don’t want to imagine what Lagos would be like if it was administered by some other people and not the caliber of people we have at the helm of affairs since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 1999

As it stands, Lagos has set a machinery in place to continue to prosper and despite the threats by those who sit at home every Monday to move their businesses, Lagos has even made more progress

I came into the country early December and Lagos is far different from what it looked like last year. The streets are safe, parties everywhere, concerts everywhere and everyone is spending big

Yes I know there are still challenges here are there and it’s everywhere in the world but I have to give it to the Yoruba spirit for building cities worth envying

Since being in the country, I’ve visited Portharcourt, Calabar, Abuja, Kaduna, Ibadan, Abeokuta, Akure and Ado Ekiti. I must confess that in all these states, there has been tremendous progress and I mean tremendous progress

God bless Yorubaland

God bless Nigeria

For his age, he was sharp in his thoughts and expressions.

TravelLagos To Receive New Rolling Stock For Red & Blue Line Train In 2025 by yoruboid(op): 8:02pm On Dec 23, 2024
The Lagos State government is set to receive new rolling stock to bolster train operations on the Red and Blue Line corridors in 2025.

Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), outlined these plans, along with the agency’s season’s greetings to Lagosians, in a video clip.

The video, posted on the Authority’s X (formerly Twitter) page, also highlighted her plans for new buses to join the regulated fleet operated under LAMATA to better serve the transport needs of Lagos residents

“In 2025, we promise to serve you better. New buses will join our regulated fleet. New railing stock are expected to join our train operations,” Akinajo stated.

The Managing Director of LAMATA also revealed that the Lagos State government, under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is working towards the realization of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Green and Purple Lines.

The LRMT Green Line is a proposed 68km metro rail project that will span from the Lekki Free Zone to Marina, while the Purple Line is planned to connect Redemption Camp to Ojo, near Lagos State University (LASU).

Other plans she outlined for next year include exploring ways to reduce emissions through the use of eco-friendly fuels and improving the payment system for Lagos State’s regulated transport services.

What you should know
The Lagos Strategic Transport Master Plan focuses on a robust metro rail system, including six Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines, two of which are currently operational: Phase 1 of the Blue Line and Phase 2 of the Red Line.

The Blue Line, a 27-kilometre rail project, began commercial operations in September 2023 after completing its first phase, a 13-kilometre stretch from Marina to Mile 2. By December 2024, it had transported 2.37 million passengers, with Phase 2 ongoing.

The Red Line, a 37-kilometre project, began construction in April 2021 and saw its first phase inaugurated in February 2024, connecting Agbado to Oyingbo with eight stations. Passenger operations commenced in October, and Phase 2 is also underway.

The Lagos State Government has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) to develop the 68km Green Line, which will connect the Lekki Free Zone to Marina, integrating with the Blue Line.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu signed the MoU at the China-Africa Cooperation Summit in September 2024.
Additionally, in February 2024, the Governor announced the procurement of additional rolling stock for the Blue and Red Lines, though their arrival from China was delayed.
