A Supreme Court in North Korea has sentenced Hyeon Soo Lim, who pastors the Light Korean Presbyterian Church in Toronto to life imprisonment with hard labour after he was convicted of committing ‘crimes against the state’. Pastor Soo Lim who had been in detention since February was given the sentence after a brief trial.

He had earlier appeared at a news conference organized by North Korean authorities in Pyongyang in July and admitted to plotting to overthrow the North Korean state. But other foreigners detained in North Korea and then released have said they were coerced into making similar statements and confessing guilt during their detention. Both the U.S. and Canadian governments have warn it’s citizens against travelling to North Korea as the state has very strict rules against any missionary or religious activities that it sees as threatening the supremacy of its ruling regime.

The state is so strict that merely leaving a Bible in a public place can lead to arrest and possibly severe punishment. Lim’s relatives and colleagues who are based in Canada,where he’s gotten citizenship have said he travelled on Jan. 31 as part of a regular humanitarian mission to North Korea where he supports a nursing home, a nursery and an orphanage. They said Lim, who is in his early 60s, has made more than 100 trips to North Korea since 1997 and that his trips were about helping people and were not political.

ILORIN-There was pandemonium in Ilorin, kwara state capital Tuesday morning as Hundreds of students of Kwara state polytechnic took to the major streets to protest the management’s decision to charge extra N10,000 ‎fee as penalty for late registration. The protest however yielded results as the polytechnic management in a swift reaction reduced the charge for late registration from N10,000 to N5,000 and promised to pay back the students who have already paid.

The student were now pleading to the government to take drastic action over this issues because of the financial situation.

‎Contacted, the Deputy Registrar, Information and Communication, Alhaji Moshood Amuda said that, the management of the school has reduced the late registration charge from N10,000 to N5,000 with immediate effect. According to him,”to students who have paid the penalty charge of N10,000, the management will make arrangement to refund the difference”.

He however advised the students to remain calm and peaceful, saying that, they should vacate the highway and desist from public disturbance.

A Federal high court has ordered all accounts belonging to former captain of the Super Eagles, Nwankwo Kanu anywhere in Nigeria be frozen.
According to Saharareporters.com, Kanu’s accounts and those of his company Hardley apartments anywhere and in any financial institution in the country have been ordered frozen.

The accounts were frozen because of the ex-footballer’s inability to recover a debt of N924,788,754.56.

Director of Hardley Apartment, Ayoola Gam-Ikon was also reportedly affected by a suit which was filed by the Asset Management Corporation Of Nigeria (AMCON) in an affidavit sworn to by a Credit officer in the Directorate of AMCON, Mr Victor Igabor.

Barrister Niyi Olopade is representing AMCON. Kanu’s alleged indebtedness as at the 15th October 2015 stood at N924,788,754.56

The presiding judge, Okon Abang adjourned hearing to a later date.

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal says Manchester United has the days when they expected to win trophies on a regular basis.
Speaking at a pre-match conference, Van Gaal said the increased wealth and competition in England means Manchester United cannot stroll over opponents like the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Van Gaal was reacting to questions fielded by journalist about his team’s inability to progress out of their Champions League group stage.
