Nigerian Exchange (NGX) has imposed penalties totalling N123.17 million on 15 listed companies for late submission of financial statements, according to its latest compliance report. The penalties are split between N87.30 million for delayed audited accounts and N35.87 million for delayed interim financial reports. The list contains 22 separate penalty entries, as some companies were sanctioned for both categories. The Top Defaulters International Energy Insurance recorded the largest single penalty at N28.20 million. It was followed by Caverton Offshore Support Group with a cumulative N19.20 million across both reporting categories, and Legend Internet with N16.80 million. Together, these three companies accounted for approximately 52.12% of the total penalties. Repeat Offenders Six companies appeared in both the audited and interim penalty categories: Caverton, NCR (Nigeria), Cornerstone Insurance, Jaiz Bank, Sterling Financial Holdings, and Regency Alliance Insurance. Their combined fines amounted to N56.10 million. Other Companies on the List · Oando: N10.40 million · Fidelity Bank: N4.20 million · Ecobank Transnational: N1.30 million · International Breweries: N1 million · PZ Cussons: N600,000 The repeated appearance of several companies raises questions about the effectiveness of financial penalties in ensuring timely disclosures. However, the compliance list alone does not prove that any company deliberately withheld statements or treats the fines as a routine cost of doing business. Late filings create information gaps for investors, especially during earnings season. For retail investors, a company’s compliance record is often a signal of how seriously it takes minority shareholders |
Renaissance Capital Africa (RCA) has raised its valuation of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE to N700.41 per share, representing a 33.4% premium to the N525 IPO offer price . The upward revision follows stronger-than-expected earnings for the nine months ended September 2026, as the refinery's revenue, EBITDA, and net profit exceeded the investment firm's estimates . The new valuation represents a 13.1% increase from RCA's earlier estimate of N619.47 per share and implies an equity value of approximately $63 billion based on 120.13 billion existing shares . After accounting for net IPO proceeds of N2.11 trillion and 4.1 billion new shares, RCA's adjusted valuation stands at N694.28 per share, a 32.2% premium to the offer price . Dangote Refinery reported a net profit of **$4.73 billion** for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, reversing a net loss of $117.2 million in the same period of 2025 . Revenue surged 144.5% year-on-year to $22.48 billion**, while EBITDA rose to **$5.52 billion from $627.6 million, with the EBITDA margin widening to 24.6% from 6.8% . The refinery moved from a net debt position of $1.73 billion to a net cash position of $650.8 million . The earnings outperformance was largely driven by the third quarter, when **EBITDA reached $2.92 billion**, nearly double RCA's forecast of $1.50 billion . The EBITDA margin rose to 34.1% in Q3, compared with 18.7% in the first half . RCA attributed this to a sharp increase in refining margins, particularly in the Atlantic Basin, where the US Gulf Coast refining margin reached $62.08 per barrel in September—the highest in RCA's data se |
Add bookmark #1 VOLUME IS THE FOOTPRINT — How to Read Smart Money Without Insider Info Price can be manipulated. Volume cannot lie for long. On NGX, 5 people can push price with small money. But they cannot fake volume for weeks. What Volume Tells You: 1. ACCUMULATION VOLUME: Price flat at ₦2.00 - ₦2.20 for 2 months. But every day you see 5m, 10m, 20m shares traded. Price not moving but big volume. Meaning: Someone is buying everything that is sold. Mopping. This is Season 1. Smart money is collecting. When supply finishes, small buy will shoot price to ₦3. 2. BREAKOUT VOLUME: Price breaks ₦2.20 resistance with 50m volume (vs average 2m). That is real breakout. Follow. If price breaks with small volume (300k), it's fake, will come back down. 3. DISTRIBUTION VOLUME (The Trap): Price has moved from ₦2 to ₦6. Now every day huge volume 40m, 80m, but price is going sideways ₦5.80-₦6.10 or even closing red. Meaning: Smart money is selling to you. They are passing bag. You think "Wow, volume high, so much interest!", It's exit. 4. NO VOLUME ON FALL = GOOD: Your stock falls from ₦6 to ₦5.20 but volume is tiny. No one is really selling. It's just pullback. Will bounce. If fall from ₦6 to ₦5 with MASSIVE volume, real selling, danger. Simple Volume Rule You Can Use Tomorrow: - Buy Signal: Price flat/down + Volume 3x above 20-day average = accumulation starting. - Sell Signal: Price up 100%+ + Volume 3x above average + price not going up = distribution, start exiting. Where to Check: On Bamboo, Chaka, TradingView, Investr, add Volume indicator. Check 20-day average. |
Add bookmark #1 Today's market data reveals an important nuance: volume fell 8.9%, but transaction value rose. Here's what that tells you. What is Trading Volume? Trading volume is the number of shares that changed hands during a session. Today, 286.76 million shares were traded . What is Transaction Value? Transaction value is the total naira amount of those trades. Today, that was ₦15.31 billion . Why the Divergence Matters When volume falls but value rises, it means fewer shares are trading, but at higher prices. This often signals that institutional investors are active — they trade larger blocks at higher prices, while retail activity slows. How to Use This Signal · Volume up, value up: Broad-based rally. Healthy. · Volume down, value up: Institutional accumulation. Watch for follow-through. · Volume up, value down: Distribution or panic selling. Caution. · Volume down, value down: Market is quiet. W ait for direction. |

Pre-Market Check: What Are You Buying Or Selling At 9:30 AM Today? ☕️ ASI at 251,913 after last market session -0.29% dip. GTCO dragged us with -3.28% on massive volume. Is that panic over or buying opportunity? My morning watchlist: On my BUY radar: GTCO if it dips again at open, that 16% volume yesterday looks like washout, could bounce. Also UACN still showing strength. On SELL watch: Insurance that ran 10%+ yesterday like NPFMCRFBK, WAPIC, might see profit-taking. What's your first trade today? Are you a "buy the fear" guy on banks or "follow the strength"* on micro-caps? Drop your ticker before 9:30am bell — let's see who gets it right at close! |

The market in September 2026 also commenced the N2.1 trillion Initial Public Offer (IPO) of Dangote Refinery. Analysts attribute the bullish trend to regulatory clarity, macroeconomic reforms, and increasing investor confidence—both local and foreign. These gains positioned the domestic market among the best-performing globally. Source: ThisDay Live What's your take on the NGX rally? Are you buying, holding, or taking profits? Let' s discuss. |

Nigerians consumed about 1.66 million terabytes of data in July 2026, representing an increase of nearly 47 percent compared with the 1.13 million terabytes recorded in the same month of 2025, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has said. The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, disclosed this while delivering the welcome remarks at the maiden Nigeria Digital Connectivity Investment Forum organised by the Commission. Maida said the sharp increase in data consumption reflects the growing demand for digital connectivity and underscores the need for continued investment in Nigeria’s telecommunications infrastructure. According to him, connectivity has become increasingly important to the modern economy, with demand for digital services rising rapidly and consistently over the years. He noted that the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 recognises the importance of encouraging investment in the communications sector and gives the NCC a responsibility to facilitate such investments. Maida stressed that Nigeria must sustain investments in digital connectivity to meet the growing demand for telecommunications services and support the country’s digital economy. “For Nigeria to keep pace, we must continue to sustain investments both to expand networks and to improve the experience of people already connected,” he said. The NCC chief executive said the investment forum was an opportunity to bring stakeholders together to discuss ways of strengthening digital connectivity and creating an environment that would attract further investment into Nigeria’s communications sector. |
