Lumen Christi Catholic Television has started offering its services on the Direct to Home Television (DSTV) platform, in a renewed initiative to reach viewers worldwide.

Lumen Christi is the first Catholic television network in Africa. Its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Prince Soji Olagunju, told newsmen in Lagos yesterday that the station had been allocated Channel 350 on DSTV to broadcast round the clock.

Olagunju said this was coming at a time Catholics in Nigeria and Africa needed to be educated and informed about religious developments in the continent.

Olagunju said he was concerned that the church in Africa, with millions of lay faithful, did not have direct means such as television stations, for the work of evangelism.

He said he felt inspired to present to the Catholic Church in Africa, a channel that would complement the work of the church and restore hope to those who had lost their Catholic faith, saying the station would be offering purely Catholic contents round the hour, featuring Mass, Angelus, Benediction and Holy Rosary Recitations to deepen knowledge of the Catholic faith, which has a huge following in Nigeria.

Report reaching us has it that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has shut down blogs and websites that have “jamb” attached to their domain names in order to ensure they do not end up defrauding unsuspecting individuals.

This was disclosed by one of the owners of the affected sites.

According to him, he received a mail from his web host concerning the development.

The mail reads, “We got a complaint from JAMB through National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on a number of domain names that are defrauding Nigerians using different variant of their name (JAMB), your website was listed among them, and we were instructed to investigate and suspend all the domain names involved”.

“We communicated the information to the Registrars of the domain names in question and requested them to kindly also investigate and take the appropriate action”.

“We understand that this domain names may not indulge in any fraudulent activity. However, we advice that you take down the contents of this site as requested by NITDA to avoid immediate suspension of the domain name”.

“Please note that if this is not done within 12 hours of this report, we will be forced to suspend the domain”.

Checks and observations reveals that such websites bearing "jamb" as part of their domain names are no longer accessible.

Great loss to the affected Web owners.

Is there a perfect way for a car to recognise the person behind the wheel? Well, Chrysler is working on a perfect answer to this by providing a facial recognition software for new cars.

According to a Panasonic Automotive Associates, the software is robust enough to recognize motorists even if they get a new haircut or put on glasses.

The Portal has already been launched earlier this month at CES technology expo.

A camera behind the steering wheel will scan the driver’s face. This will enable the car call up the driver’s profile. His favorite radio stations, seat position, address book, calendar, etc.

The Driver’s profile will be stored in the cloud and for subsequent trips, an exterior camera positioned over the B-pillar would identify the driver walking to the vehicle and adjust the seat, radio and preferred climate control before the driver is seated.

“Fiat Chrysler is evaluating it, and we are showing pieces of this solution to other automakers.” Don Turner, Panasonic Automotive’s associate director of advanced engineering.

This implies that not only Chrysler will be using the technology, though they might be the first to feature it in their next new cars.

Also the security features of the new Technology will help to curb the rate of car theft and hijacking.
