Otorogu was part of an awful performance by Orlando Pirates earlier tonight in the Telkom knockout final against Kaiser chief. He was subtituted early in the 2nd half while at a goal down and his team eventually lost by 3-0 at the final whistle. |
Two brilliant goals from NASIRU today. Personally, these are his best goals plus the one against Porto. |

Puyol plays down Ramos spat Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has played down the incident at the end of El Clasico that saw Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos confront him and Xavi following his late sending off. Ramos was shown a straight red card after scything down Lionel Messi in the 90th minute of Madrid`s 5-0 defeat at the Camp Nou and, in the ensuing fracas between the rival teams, Ramos put his hands into the faces of Barca duo Puyol and Xavi as they remonstrated with him. However, Puyol, who was pushed to the floor by his fellow Spain international, made light of the incident, saying in AS: "These things happen in a game of football. I've gone to defend a team-mate of mine because it seemed a very tough tackle. "They are moments of high tension, but what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. I have a very good relationship with Sergio Ramos and it's already forgotten. I have more important things to think about." Puyol added: "There are always different piques with the players from Madrid because they are our biggest rivals, but it's a pique on the field of play. We have many friends in the other camp." Regarding the match, which saw Barca move two points above previously-unbeaten Madrid at the top of the table with their fifth successive Clasico win, Puyol said: "I didn't expect a thrashing like that but, when you least expect it, it can happen. Now we need to enjoy this victory. "We had a very complete game and played very well. We started very aggressively, playing our football and everything went perfectly." |

In other news it's interesting to note the brother of Carlos Vela speak for his stated in the Guardian the following: He just wants the chance to show what he can do for Arsenal and maybe if that doesn't happen, he will think about his future. Important clubs are interested in his services. Now he has a European passport, it could open the market for him. |
Arsenal could welcome back Emmanuel Eboue ahead of schedule from a knee problem for the Carling Cup quarter-final against Wigan at Emirates Stadium. Centre-half Sebastien Squillaci picked up a minor knee problem during Saturday's win at Aston Villa and captain Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) remains sidelined along with Abou Diaby (ankle) and Thomas Vermaelen (Achilles). Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner could all feature having been unused substitutes at Villa Park, while manager Arsene Wenger must decide whether to recall fit-again goalkeeper Manuel Almunia or give young Pole Wojciech Szczesny another chance. Wenger has called on Arsenal fans to "keep faith'' in his vision as he looks to guide the young Gunners into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup. The 4-2 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday avoided a third straight defeat, following on from the bitter disappointment of blowing a two-goal lead as arch-rivals Tottenham fought back to win the north London derby at Emirates Stadium and then going down 2-0 in Braga to leave Champions League qualification not yet assured. Those performances once again had pundits and supporters alike questioning Arsenal's backbone and ability to turn potential into silverware. Wenger, though, maintains his side have the quality needed to come good in the end as they look to secure a first trophy since the 2005 FA Cup by staying on course for Wembley with victory. "For over two months we have played every three days, and part of that is sometimes you have ups and downs. It is how you respond to that,'' Wenger told Arsenal TV Online. "The problem at the moment is that when these kind of things happen, everybody is emphasising the negative sides.'' Wenger declared: "I am still quite optimistic, even if disappointed by the results. "I have no major reason to doubt the team and the players, so even if my disappointment was huge, maybe that is why I am less down than many people because I see all the positive signs which are in my team. "I am confident on the longer-term, like it is a marathon, that will all come out - keep with us, and keep faith with the team. "I know their attitude is spot on, I know they have the quality - and we will not always lose games where the opponent only has one shot on goal.'' Antolin Alcaraz returns from a one-match suspension for Wigan. Hugo Rodallega remains unavailable as he serves the second instalment of a three-game ban, while on-loan Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley is not eligible to play under the terms of his season-long deal. Gary Caldwell (thigh), Emmerson Boyce (hamstring) and James McCarthy (ankle) remain on the sidelines. Roberto Martinez has revealed his plan to make Wigan the Arsenal of the north. Latics manager Martinez will .aim to get the better of the man whose footballing philosophy he is trying to emulate: Arsene Wenger. Martinez is an arch-disciple of Gunners boss Wenger's entire approach to management, chiefly of the Frenchman's record of bringing through young players during his 14 years at the helm. "I think developing players is key for a football club and, as we all know, for the nation,'' said Martinez. "And I think it's a clear model that has produced outstanding talent and is carrying on doing that. "That's been a great example throughout football and for many people to follow. "To have the ideas very clear, to have those strong beliefs, they bring you success. "It's quite clear that it's someone who started a model and football in general has benefited from that work". |
Chamakh is not findiing the premier league easy so far. Quote- Every ball that's contested here I get ploughed into - and the referee doesn't blow for it. After a Premier League match, I walk off with my body aching, with scratch marks, stiff muscles. Three days later, we go again. El clasico turns to el TRASHICO . This is a disgrace to Madrid and the special one |
The last time both sides met on Monday in 1972, barca won 1-0. Shall it be REPEATED? |
@1025, SPOT ON. Wenger should have avoided the question when asked. Even Roy Keane or Di Matteo would have replied the way Mourinho did. |
Chelsea's plan to rain Barcelona for their sporting minds appears to have hit a snag. The London club's Danish sporting director Frank Arnesen has announced that he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season "to seek a new challenge." And Chelsea's Russian owner Roman Abramovich had wanted former Barca director of football affairs Txiki Beguiristain to take Arnesen's place. Beguiristain left Barca after their last presidential elections, and has met with Chelsea twice. But his interest in the job has cooled after it transpired that Abramovich was still unclear exactly what the Spaniard's duties would be. The Blues are looking to copy Barca's successful model, hence their interest in Beguiristain, but it seems as if he will not be joining the Stamford Bridge club after all. Meanwhile, the rumours that Chelsea will move to hire Barca coach Pep Guardiola have been dismissed as "total rubbish" by insiders at the club. And sources close to Guardiola himself have also denied that talks between him and Chelsea have even taken place. Guardiola has yet to sign a new contract with Barca, and a few minor spats with the club's directors have fuelled the speculation that he will leave the club at the end of the season. But those close to Guardiola insist that should he leave Barca- which is doubtful- he will take a year-long sabbatical from football before joining another club. |
Barcelona star Lionel Messi thinks Real Madrid will be out to avenge the 6-2 thumping they suffered at the hands of the Blaugrana two seasons ago, when the Clasico explodes tonight. Messi has been Real's tormentor in chief, scoring in three of their last four Clasico victories. He is in devastating form heading into tonight's showdown at the Camp Nou, having scored in each of his last 10 games. He is hoping to put Real to the sword yet again, but knows that he faces a more resilient Los Blancos line-up than ever before. "Real will come to Camp Nou with revenge in mind," he said. ''Since the 6-2 I guess they have a real desire to beat us and this season they have strengthened with the new signings and [Jose] Mourinho." Meanwhile, Real's best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, is more than on fire himself. He leads Messi by one goal in the scoring charts, and their duel tonight has the football world on the edge of their seats. But Ronaldo claims that the match is about more than just himself and Messi. "To talk about a duel between me and Messi is foolishness. It's a duel between the two best teams in Spain. Messi, like me, will try to do his most to help his team win. "I'm just another player in this team. Things are working out well, as much for me as the team, but I don't feel any more pressure than the rest. We all have our responsibilities." |
