Christianity EtcGod Of "Pentecostal Churches In Nigeria" by Yubee40(op): 8:59am On Jan 28, 2018
I have noticed the new trend of most pentecostal churches in Nigeria making reference to "The God" of their G.O's and Pastors. Phrases like "God of David Oyedepo", "God of David Ibiyiome", "God of Enoch Adeboye" and the likes. I don't understand the need for separation and renaming of God to fit into each doctrine or belief systems. Are we sure that after such renaming we are still refering and praying to the same God? I believe its an abuse of free will to sit on a sunday morning and "rename God" by adding appendages at will. In the Bible references to God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was to clearly differenciate between God almighty and the god's worshipped by the Egyptians and Romans. I am not a theologian but I am certain that there is only One God. God Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and he belongs to us; Rich or Poor, orthodox or pentecostal, Muslim, buddist or christian.

EducationNOUN Graduates Now Eligible For NYSC & Law School by Yubee40(op): 4:42pm On Jul 06, 2017
The Senate has passed an amendment to the law establishing the National Open University, which will make graduates of the institution eligible for mobilisation by the National Youth Service Corps and to attend the Nigerian Law School.

The passage followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the ‘Bill for An Act to Amend the National Open University Act Cap N6 LFN 1983 (Amendment) Bill 2017’ by the lawmakers at the plenary on Thursday.
In the report, the Senate panel stated that the amendment to the National Open University of Nigeria Act was to bring the institution at par with the regular universities in the country.

The report said, “The objectives of the bill are as follows: firstly, to amend the existing legislation with a view to removing the perception of the public about the university in respect of the word ‘correspondence,’ which gives the impression that the university is not a full-time university and, as such, seen as part-time.

“These two concepts – correspondence and part-time – significantly affect the way the public views the programs run by the university. This has been the reason why the Law graduates of the school are not admitted into the Nigerian Law School as well as the reason for the non-inclusion of the graduates of the university into the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

“Secondly, to include lnformation and Communication Technology as another means of providing tuition towards the advancement of learning throughout Nigeria. The National Open University, as currently run, depends critically on virtual learning and students’ individual research, hence, the need for improvement and introduction of helpful learning tools as presented by lCT. This will further deal with the challenge of limited access in the tertiary education sector.”

EducationUNICAL Prof Suspended Over Alleged Rape by Yubee40(op): 7:53am On Sep 11, 2015
CALABAR—The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level student in his office was yesterday suspended by the panel instituted by the school’s Vice Chancellor, Professor James Epoke.
Professor Ndifon, who is the first professor of Law from Cross River State, was briefly arrested and detained by the police and later released on Wednesday before he was suspended yesterday evening by the panel set up to investigate him.
The professor was accused by mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan, in a letter sent to the university, alleging that the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office on the top floor of the faculty building.
According to the lady, Professor Ndifon forcibly had sex with her daughter after a fierce struggle. The school authorities confirmed receipt of complaints from the victim, while the police also affirmed it but was quick to add that the matter was undergoing thorough investigation.
Narrating her daughter’s ordeal, Mrs Akpan explained that the dean had set a one-hour test for the students on that Saturday, assigning two lecturers to carry out the supervision.
She alleged that 20 minutes to the end of allotted time, Ndifon entered the hall and ordered the students to stop writing.
She said while the students were preparing to submit their answer sheets, Ndifon approached her daughter, tore her answer sheet and left the shreds on the seat.
Mrs. Akpan said: “He walked straight to my daughter’s desk, collected the script and tore it. He left the torn script on her seat, so the girl collected the pieces and put them in her bag. According to her, you will still have to pass through the faculty before leaving the building.
“She said as they were leaving, the dean accosted her again and asked if she still had the shredded script, she said yes. He instructed her to follow him to the general dean’s office to recopy the answers on another plain sheet, which she did.”
“The unsuspecting girl followed him to the general office where two people were, including the dean’s secretary. The office of the dean is on the first floor of the building, according to my daughter.
“She said while writing in that office, the dean who had earlier gone out, came in again and instructed her to follow him to his private office on the second floor so that she could comfortably use the table.”
The victim’s mother said five minutes after getting to his private office, the dean locked the door, concealed the key and started making advances, adding that they struggled but Ndifon subdued her and had sex with the girl.
She said her daughter was later taken to Airport Police Station, along IBB Way in Calabar, where she gave statement and also had medical examinations at the police clinic.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Effiong Eyo, said the institution was seriously looking into the matter.
“A panel has been set up to look into the matter. The authorities are looking seriously into it,” Eyo said.
Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said the command was investigating the case.
He said: “The case of rape or sexual assault requires discreet investigation and we have to handle it with care.”
EducationDean Faculty Of Law Unical Accused Of Raping 400l Student by Yubee40(op): 8:06am On Sep 09, 2015
The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level law student (name withheld) .

The mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan (not her real name), who is resident in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, told our correspondent on Monday the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office in the faculty building.

She alleged that Ndifon forcefully had sex with her daughter. confirm

The school authority has confirmed receipt of the complaint from the victim, while the police have also corroborated it. The police said the matter was being investigated.

Narrating the experience of her daughter, Akpan claimed the dean had set a one-hour test for the students on that Saturday, assigning two lecturers to supervise; but 20 minutes to the end of allotted time, Ndifon entered the hall and ordered the students to stop writing.

Akpan said while the students were preparing to submit their answer sheets, Ndifon approached her daughter, tore her answer sheet and left the shreds on the seat.

She said, “He walked straight to my daughter’s desk, collected the script and tore it. He left the torn script on her seat, but the girl picked the pieces and kept them in her bag. According to her, you will still have to pass through the faculty before leaving the building.

“She said as they were leaving, the dean accosted her again and asked if she still had the shredded script. He instructed her to follow him to the general dean’s office to recopy the answers on another plane sheet, which she did.

She said her daughter was later taken to the Airport Police Station along IBB Way in Calabar, where she gave statement and also had medical examinations at the police clinic.

Akpan also said her family had personally written a letter of complaint to the university through the vice-chancellor, Prof. James Epoke, who on receipt promised to act on it.

Attempts to speak with Ndifon proved abortive as he did not respond to several calls placed across to him through his mobile phone.

The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Effiong Eyo, said the institution was seriously looking into the matter.

“I have not been able to confirm but I believe a panel has been set up to look into the matter. The authorities are looking seriously into it,” Eyo said.

Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said he could not give details because he had yet to get formal briefing on the outcome of the investigation.

Bassey said, “The command is investigating the case. The case of rape or sexual assault requires discreet investigation and we have to handle it with care.”

But a lawyer in the school, Mr. Innocent Ovat, who spoke for the accused, said there seemed to be a slight contradiction in the letter sent to the school by the victim.

Quoting the letter titled, ‘Report of sexual assault and harassment by Prof. Cyril Ndifon on me’, In the letter made available to our correspondent, Ovat reffered to the victim’s claim, which read, “He removed his clothes and brought out a condom from his office shelf, wore it and penetrated forcefully and painfully.

“We heard a knock on the door, he picked his clothes and quickly wore them and acted like everything was normal and then he proceeded to open the door. He left me there and went downstairs with the person that knocked.”

Ovat wondered why the girl did not seize the opportunity of the knock on the door to raise the alarm for rescue.

“Why did she not raise the alarm when the door was opened,” he queried.
