Unknown gunmen have abducted the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Michael Ohio-Ezomon, from his house at Eme-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of the state.

The Chairman of the local government, Mr Frank Illaboya who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Eme-Ora on Thursday, said Ohio-Ezomon was abducted by three gunmen around 1am on Thursday.

According to Illaboya, the candidate’s orderly was killed by the abductors who whisked him away through the window.

“Our candidate in the forthcoming election has been abducted by three gunmen at his house around 1am this morning.

“The orderly attached to him was killed and our candidate was taken away by gunmen through the window.

“As I speak to you now, there has been no contact from the abductors,” Illaboya said.

The Edo Commissioner of Police, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, told NAN at the scene of the incident that investigation would commence immediately.

He also said no contact had been established with the gunmen.

Meanwhile, the body of the orderly has been deposited in a mortuary in the area.

BusinessCBN To Fine Banks For Paying Counterfeit Banknotes by yungcrae(op): 7:11am On Jan 24, 2019
The Central Bank of Nigeria has imposed a penal fee of N1m on each branch of Deposit Money Banks for non-compliance with its ‘Banknote fitness guidelines and clean note policy documents for the industry.’

The regulator disclosed this in a circular to all DMBs on ‘Penalty for payment of counterfeit monies from ATMs, Teller Points’ on Wednesday.

It said, “The management of the CBN has observed with concern the incidences of counterfeits paid through some DMBs’ ATMs/Teller points. This situation has continued unabated despite moral suasion to the affected DMBs.

“To address this, among others, the CBN in collaboration with key currency management stakeholders developed ‘Banknote fitness guidelines and clean note policy documents for the industry.”

“In order to sustain public confidence in the national currency and ensure compliance with the provisions of the policy documents, the CBN said it approved the, “Spot checks on DMBs’ ATMs and Teller points to ensure compliance; and imposition of penal fee of N1m per branch of DMBs for non-compliance.”

The apex bank said that the enforcement of the sanction would take effect after the launch of the two policy documents at a date which would be communicated to all stakeholders.

According to the CBN, it has the statutory obligation to provide adequate supply of clean banknotes to facilitate seamless payment and settlement of transactions by the public, government and banks.

Over the years, it observed that the growth in economic activities and the upsurge in population had necessitated the rise in the volume of banknotes in circulation.

In view of technological advances, the CBN, like other central banks, had introduced various forms of electronic payment systems for an effective and efficient settlement of transactions and to reduce the volume of cash usage with its attendant cost implications.

The regulator noted that demand for cash continued to grow despite technological advances.

“The volume of currency in circulation as at the end of 2012 rose significantly by 10.34 per cent to N7.91tn pieces, as at half year of 2018,” it stated.

A large proportion of the notes in circulation, according to the CBN, are dirty and mutilated and not fit for ATMs and over the counter payment.

PoliticsSee What FG Told Farmers To Do To Armed Fulani Herdsmen by yungcrae(op): 4:26pm On Jan 23, 2019
The Zamfara State Government has directed traditional rulers across the state to always verify the identity of herdsmen entering their domains in order to guard against armed banditry.

The state Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankand, gave the directive in a statewide radio broadcast on Wednesday.

Dankande said that the directive had become necessary following the influx of herdsmen into many communities in the state in recent weeks.

He said: “We have received reports that the number of Fulani herdsmen coming to our communities have significantly increased.

“Many of them are coming with their animals to eat up remnants from the last farming season on farmlands.

“This tradition has always helped our farmers in clearing farmlands ahead of upcoming rainy season.

“We should, however, be vigilant on the herders coming to our areas. Screen them, investigate where they are coming from and report any suspicious movement to the nearest authority for prompt action.”

The commissioner also implored residents to report any suspicious movement to the Emir in-charge of their area, should the ward, village or district heads fail to report such suspects in time.

PoliticsBREAKING!!! General Danjuma Reveals Secret Plans To Rig Election by yungcrae(op): 9:37am On Jan 23, 2019
Former Minister of Defence, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma rtd has raised the alarm of an alleged plot to use undemocratic ways to rig the 2019 general elections.

The retired general alleged that there were clandestine moves to cause civil unrest in Taraba, with the hope of making the governorship election inconclusive.

He dropped the allegations at the commissioning of medical laboratories in Takum on Tuesday.

He called on the electorates to guard their votes and avoid all forms of provocation before, during and after the elections.

He said “We are in the eve of election and if you want another four years for our able governor, we must work for peace.

“Those who do not wish us well will want us to fight ourselves, then they will use soldiers and police to destabilise us and rig the election.

“It will be in our best interest to ensure there is peace. We should suffer all provocation because there are going to be plenty between now and the time of election.

“They will provoke you to fight yourselves because they know they will loose if there is a peaceful election.

“I beg everyone of you to help maintain peace so we can have a peaceful election and that there are no surprises and will be no postponement. ”

“The last time when Darius’s political party was the ruling party, he was made to have run off three times.

“This time they have perfected running off. Once you don’t win the first time, the second time, they will sit down and write the result and announce it in the run off.

“They will award votes and this is the primitive democracy we now operate in this country.

“It is up to you to guard your votes, secure your votes and make sure that everyone of your votes count and that is when you can have four plus four.”

He added, “you will be selling your birth right if you agree to their demand.”

Health40 Per Cent Of Cancer Cases Can Be Prevented —health Minister by yungcrae(op): 8:44pm On Jan 18, 2019
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, says 40 per cent of cancer cases can be prevented in Nigeria, if people can change their sedentary lifestyles.

Adewole made the assertion on Friday, while addressing newsmen at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos.

The minister was in LUTH for the inspection of the new cancer treatment centre at the hospital.

He said that cancer prevention could be achieved when people change their lifestyles, especially the way they move around, sleep, eat, what they drink and majorly, staying away from tobacco.

“The main purpose of investing in this cancer treatment centre is to treat more people in the country, rather than travelling out for treatment.

“Also, the best place to treat patients is when they are among their people and seeing their relations everyday.

“So, we are trying to achieve that and save people’s money because it will be cheaper than travelling outside.
“Three modalities for cancer treatment are chemotheraphy, radiation and surgery because most cancer cases are always presented late.

“Improving awareness on cancer treatment will make people to come early for treatment and reduce late presentation of cancer cases,” Adewole said.

He also said that the plan was to replicate the centre in many health institutions across the country .

“LUTH has a first class of Biomedical Centre which we planned to support other centres.

“I know LUTH will manage the machine properly which means abandoned and broken equipment will be a thing of the past.

“There will also be a long term maintenance contract that will enable us to manage the cancer machine.

“The cancer treatment centre is almost ready, so by February, this centre will start operation fully for the benefits of the patients,” Adewole said.

According to the minister, apart from the Cancer Treatment Centre, Federal Ministry of Health had on Tuesday flagged off the basic healthcare provision fund.

“The main reason is to provide resource from the Federal down to all the state facilities and also to the local government level.

“We will also be providing some free basic services to the people such as immunisation services, delivery services, tuberculosis services, checking of blood pressure, urine test and treatment of under-five children.

“We will also be partnering with the state governments by making sure that the state provides infrastructure, while the Federal Government provides money to maintain it.

“We are also moving ahead by producing adequate doctors in all health facilities, retain our health professionals by providing necessary equipment, funds and also attract many doctors back to Nigeria.

“Our major main aim is to ensure people access to quality healthcare in 2019,” Adewole said.

PoliticsNants Warns Fg To Resist Wto E-commerce Negotiation! by yungcrae(op): 1:58pm On Jan 18, 2019
The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS) have raised alarm about involving Nigeria in international agreements when they have to do with trade which has taken technical dimension in contemporary times. President of NANTS, Mr Ken Ukaoha, who spoke yesterday in Abuja on resisting Nigeria’s participation in the e-commerce negotiations at the World Trade Organisation ( WHO) frowned at the understanding that Nigeria is being dragged through the back door without proper analysis and due consultations on the merits and demerits to the nation.

According to him, other countries have submitted a formal document opposing any negotiation on e-commerce at the WTO, and have insisted that they would continue to work under th programme on electronic commerce based on the existing mandate and guidelines adopted by the WTO countries in 1998.

Ukaoha stated that many developing countries were opposed to negotiating rules on e-ecommerce because if agreed upon, will put power over other countries’ future and their economies in the hands of a largely unregulated private oligopoly. He explained that negotiating binding WTO rules on e-commerce were being pushed for by tech giants like, Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Alibaba among others who control the internet in order to secure rules that will consolidate their power. The NANTS president further explained that given the low level of broadband penetration and the fact that only five per cent of the people in the developing countries use e-commerce platforms, the probability of domestic e- commerce growing in the developing countries and benefit their SMEs absolutely appear to be low.

PoliticsThieves Invade N’assembly, See What They Stole! by yungcrae(op): 1:38pm On Jan 18, 2019
The Senate, yesterday, raised the alarm over frequent cases of theft and burglary in the National Assembly complex. It said the action is becoming embarrassing and doesn’t portray the country in good light.

It specifically condemned the invasion of the office of Oluremi Tinubu, by burglars and described the action as shameful.

Worried over the development, the Senate has mandated its Committee on Services, to investigate the frequent cases through the National Assembly Management. The committee is expected to report back within two weeks.

Mrs Tinubu had earlier raised a point of order, to draw the attention of his colleagues to the development. She said she doesn’t feel safe anymore in her office since the incidence happened.

She also called for a comprehensive investigation into the case and urged the National Assembly to replace all items stolen by the hoodlums, as soon as possible.

She said: “I want to report an incident that happened in my office while we were on Christmas break. The senate is aware we closed for the break on Thursday, December 21, 2018. However, my office had been closed from December 7, as I had constituency engagements and town hall meetings scheduled for the period.

“On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, my staff, upon resumption, noticed some anomalies in the organisation and setup of the office, prompting an inspection.

“It was discovered that one HP laptop computer, CCTV camera box, one Smile internet device and copies of laws of the federation had been carted away.

“Subsequently, a report was lodged at the police post of the National Assembly. I’m requesting two things from the senate; the leadership of the senate and sympathy that the senate is to direct that volumes one to 14 of the laws of the federation and CCT box carted away be replaced.

PoliticsCrime Against Humanity! ICC Puts President Behind Bars! Read Full News by yungcrae(op): 1:25pm On Jan 18, 2019
Former Cote d’Ivoire President Laurent Gbagbo will stay behind bars after prosecutors appealed against his acquittal on charges of crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague acquitted him on Tuesday and ordered his immediate release. But on Wednesday prosecutors challenged the decision to release him, arguing that Mr Gbagbo might abscond.

They said he might not appear in court if his acquittal were to be overturned. Mr Gbagbo had been charged with crimes against humanity in connection with violence following a disputed 2010 election that left 3,000 dead and 500,000 displaced.

He was captured in 2011 in a presidential palace bunker by UN and French-backed forces supporting his rival, Alassane Ouattara. He is the first former head of state to go on trial at the ICC. “Pending the decision of the appeals chamber on this prosecutor’s request (Mr Gbagbo) shall remain in ICC custody,” a spokesman for the court said in a statement.

“There is a concrete risk that, once released, the accused will not appear for the continuation of the proceeding,” prosecutors wrote in a filing. A ruling on their appeal is expected today.

The violence in Ivory Coast, the world’s biggest cocoa producer, came after Gbagbo refused to accept that he had lost a disputed election run-off to Ouattara in 2010. Prosecutors said Gbagbo clung to power “by all means” and charged him with four counts of crimes against humanity, murder, rape and other forms of sexual violence, persecution and “other inhuman acts”.

He denied the charges, which he said were politically motivated.

PoliticsOnce You Join The APC, Your Sins Are Forgiven – Oshiomhole by yungcrae(op): 10:16am On Jan 18, 2019
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, urged members of the opposition party to join the APC so that their sins could be forgiven.

He spoke at the APC rally in Benin, the Edo State capital, on Thursday while receiving some members of the Peoples Democratic Party into the APC during the rally.

He said, “We have some PDP defectors. They are, Henry Tenebe, Iluobe….Iluobe means I have done something wrong. Yes, once you join the APC, your sins are forgiven.”

Oshiomhole advised the people to vote for the President and all the APC candidates at the polls.

I’ll continue to deal with looters, Buhari vows

Earlier at a rally in Warri, Delta State, the Presidential candidate of the APC, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, vowed that his administration would continue to hunt those who stole public money and deal with them.

The President also assured the people of the Niger Delta that his administration, when re-elected, would give the region serious attention.

The President, who was received by a mammoth crowd of APC supporters at the Warri Township Stadium, had earlier visited the palaces of Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Abe 1 and the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Ikonwoli.

Expressing his commitment to the anti-graft war, Buhari said if re-elected, he would continue to recover stolen funds.

“In the fight against corruption, I assure you that all those who have fraudulently enriched themselves when they were entrusted with public funds, we will eventually get them and deal with them. We are doing it, we will continue to do it and I assure you, we will not abuse your trust,” he stated.

At the rally, the National Chairman of the APC, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, appealed to Buhari to probe the $16bn spent on the National Integrated Power Project by the PDP-led government of Olusegun Obasanjo.

He also told Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the governorship candidate of the PDP, that his days were numbered as the APC candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, would defeat him.

“Mr President, in your second term, I urge you with respect sir; you must fulfil the question which we have asked. After $16bn, you will ask, where is the light? Mr President, you have a duty to man and to God, to ensure that that question must be answered. It must be answered judiciously. It must be answered in the court of law and what people are entitled to know.”

On Atiku’s threat to privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Oshiomhole warned the people of the South-South to stand firm with President Buhari as the PDP presidential candidate would sell the nation’s oil and gas reserve.

Uduaghan, the immediate past governor of the state who is the Delta South senatorial candidate of the APC, said the APC would sweep the forthcoming elections in the state.

However, there was a drama at the APC rally when the President failed thrice to correctly call the party’s governorship candidate in Delta State, Great Ogboru, by his designation.

Campaign rallies are often embellished with drama, or turn out dramatic and no candidate or party member is immune to such drama scenes.

Recall that the President had on Wednesday, during the APC presidential campaign rally in Lokoja, Kogi State, made a mistake about the time he assumed office.

The president had told the party’s supporters at Confluence Stadium, Lokoja that he assumed office on May 19, 2015, instead of May 29.

On Thursday, Buhari made another gaffe at the rally in Warri.

When Buhari was to hand over the party’s flag to the state governorship candidate of the party, he called him the presidential candidate of the APC.

He said, “I am handing over this flag of honour to our presidential candidate.”

A man on the podium to his left corrected him, saying “gubernatorial”, but Buhari made another gaffe by saying “to our senatorial candidate.”

When the man corrected him, saying “gubernatorial” Buhari said “governortorial candidate.”

But the PDP alleged that Buhari had voluntarily handed over his presidential candidacy to Ogboru.

It stated that the perceived handover was at the APC presidential campaign rally. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodinyan, said the handover had shown that Buhari had foreseen his defeat and already switched into a handover mode.

Ologbondiyan said, “The whole world watched as President Buhari, apparently overwhelmed by thoughts of his defeat, ended up declaring the APC governorship candidate in Delta State, Great Ogboru, as the presidential candidate.

“President Buhari told his audience, ‘I have this pleasure of handing over this flag of honour to our Presidential candidate’, while giving the flag to Great Ogboru.”

He added, “It is clear that President Buhari, worried by the shunning of his campaign by Nigerians, mistook the Warri Rally for the May 29, 2019 handing over ceremony that is four months ahead.

“Buhari is already in the mood of his May 29, 2019 handover of mantle of leadership to PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, following the national consensus to return the PDP to power in the February 16, 2019 presidential election.”

Ologbondiyan alleged that Buhari had continued to display that he did not have the intention of seeking for a second term in office.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, took a swipe at President Buhari, saying the President was fighting the opposition, not corruption.

Atiku, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, said it was shocking that Buhari had not condemned the action of the Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje, for allegedly taking a bribe from a contractor.

The President, at a town hall meeting anchored by a journalist, Kadaria Ahmed, on the Nigerian Television Authority, on Wednesday, spoke on the allegations against Ganduje and a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.

When asked to comment on the allegation against Ganduje, Buhari had said, “The state assembly is investigating and they have the mandate to deal with it and they have also gone to court, so I decided not to talk about it.

The President, who admitted he had seen the videos, asked, “Does Ganduje have to take the money himself? The system has given me some relief, it is in the court and the Assembly.”

On Lawal, the President challenged anybody with evidence against the ex-SGF to provide it.

But the Senate had indicted Lawal in May last year.

On Lawal, Buhari had stated, “I don’t think that anybody that is being booted out is corrupt. I told you why I have to be careful. If there are strong allegations, people should come out with strong evidence like names of companies looted, contracts awarded, then, we take them before the court and the ICPC and we have to trust the system and allow them to complete investigations.”

But on Thursday, Atiku said he found the excuse on Ganduje untenable because the President had not shown that level of restraint when condemning the alleged corruption of others who were not members of the APC.

According to him, such cases are too numerous to mention but include Buhari’s utterances on an ex-National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose.

Atiku said, “This partiality of the President is most disturbing, as it is proved positive that he is fighting the opposition and not corruption. Perhaps this is why Transparency International’s latest Corruption Perception Index has established that Nigeria is more corrupt today, under President Buhari, than before he was sworn in on May 29, 2015 (and not May 19, 2015, as he claimed in Kogi).

“Quite strangely, President Buhari, however, did not allow Ganduje’s pending court case stop him from praising his crony, the Kano governor when he went to Paris in November of last year.

“Even further damaging was the President’s defence of another of his cronies, Babachir Lawal, whom he said could not be charged because of a lack of evidence. We are embarrassed by the President that he could make such a public faux pas.”

PoliticsFRAUD: $217bn Taken Out Of Nigeria Illegally Between 1970 Till Date – EFCC by yungcrae(op): 10:32am On Jan 17, 2019
According to Punch News Nigeria - Source

Nigeria has recorded illicit financial outflows of $217.7bn in 38 years, specifically between 1970 and 2008, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said in Abuja on Wednesday.

The commission stated that the various investigations, arrests, prosecution and assets recoveries over the years had confirmed that the level of corruption in Nigeria had been truly staggering.

The Acting Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, represented by its Acting Spokesperson, Tony Orilade, expressed these views at a one-day conference organised by Online Publishers Association of Nigeria with the theme: “Free press and objective reporting in the 2019 election year.”

The EFCC boss said corruption in Nigeria was being perpetrated by individuals and groups both in the private and public sectors.

He identified former state governors, ministers, high ranking military officers, chief executives of parastatals and top bureaucrats in state and federal agencies as culprits involved in the public sector theft.

Magu said, “The alarming rate of corruption committed by these unpatriotic elements can be partly seen in the number of convictions secured by the EFCC from Nigerian courts since I assumed duty as the head of the commission in 2015.

“The figure stands at 103 in 2015, 195 in 2016, 189 in 2017 and 312 for the period of January to December 2018. The total figure for the period of 2015 to 2018 is a mind-blowing 799 convictions. In the process of such convictions, the EFCC recovered N794.5bn, $261m, £1.1m, €8.1m and CFA86, 500.

“One of the most graphic ways through which the absence of democratic accountability manifests itself in Nigeria today is through the prevalence of rampant corruption at all levels of governance. For example, Transparency International reported that Nigeria was the most corrupt country in the world for years: 1996, 1997, 2000 and second in the line for remaining years up to 2003.

“In February 2015, a high-level panel on illicit financial flows from Africa constituted by the African Union, under the chairmanship of a former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, revealed that Nigeria ranked first among ten African countries by cumulative illicit financial flows between 1970 and 2008. The total outflow from Nigeria for the period was $217.7bn constituting about 30.5 per cent of Africa’s total share.”

PoliticsAtiku Promises To Privatise NNPC If Elected by yungcrae(op): 10:19am On Jan 17, 2019
The People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, yesterday described the Nigerian National Corporation a mafia organization, vowing that if elected, he would privatize it.

Speaking in Lagos during an interactive session with the business community, Atiku also picked holes in the 2019 budget submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Atiku recalled that he sold the idea to privatize the NNPC to former President Olusegun Obasanjo under whom he was vice president, but that the former president did not approve of it.

He said the production output of the NNPC would be significantly improved if it was privatized, saying even if he would be killed, he would privatize the corporation.

“I am committed to privatising NNPC even if they are going to kill me. I will do it. When we got into office, I walked up to my boss and said ‘Sir, there are two mafia organisations in government: one is the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation while the other one is the National Electricity Power Authority.’

“I said unless we dismantle these mafia organisations, we cannot make progress. Let’s privatise them… the long and short of this is that I am committed to privatization as I have said”, he added.

Atiku also vowed to improve the budgetary system if elected and take the country’s economy to $1trillion mark.

He said many investors had lost billions due the poor economic policy of the present government, saying the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) of the Buhari’s government cannot address the economic challenges.

Atiku said, “We need a people’s budget that will prioritize and focus on the twin challenges of unemployment and poverty.

“Nigeria’s high rates of unemployment, poverty and inequality represent both a significant distortion in the economic system and a lost opportunity for critical development, which he said could “potentially threaten social stability,” he added.

According to him, he held the forum as a friend of the business community and investor who has lost so much due to poor and avoidable policy regime within the last three and a half years.

“I genuinely understand the demand of investors for a business friendly policy regime. In addition, I stand as someone who is angry that jobs are lost annually; our able and willing youths are either pushed into unemployment due to closure of businesses as a result of harsh economic realities or graduation from schools and walking into a labour market that cannot absorb them”, he added.

He said his focus as the President would be to “create a strong, resilient and prosperous economy that creates jobs and opportunities for all of us”.

Obi said fixing Nigeria’s infrastructure must be private-sector led. “All the government must do is provide the support and what we can call a guarantee for the private sector to be able to build infrastructure”, he explained.

Mrs Jennifer Atiku, the wife of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Abia women to vote massively for her husband, describing him as “a detribalised Nigerian.” Atiku said this while addressing thousands of Abia women during a town hall meeting in Umuahia on Wednesday, January 16, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. She said: “I am not saying this because he is my husband. I have known him since 1986 and married to him for 21 years. He is a detribalised Nigerian. He likes Ndigbo.” She advised the women to use the 2019 poll to decide on whether to safeguard or mortgage the future of their children.
“We are not here to preach to you. Search your conscience and think about the future of your children. “If you love your children, February 16 offers you the opportunity to decide whether you want to safeguard or mortgage the children’s future. “I cannot tell you what to do but make a choice for your children and Nigeria. Vote according to your conscience and God’s guidance,” she said. The wife of the former vice president expressed concern that Nigerian women had faced serious economic challenges since the inception of the present administration. “You know that it is the women that bear the burden of poverty and hunger in the family,” she said. She further expressed worry that the nation had suffered a lot security challenges, leading to the loss of so many innocent lives. “A lot of blood has been shed in Nigeria. Everyday, we see rivers of blood of innocent Nigerians flowing,” Atiku said. She therefore urged the women to vote for Atiku, assuring them that he would fulfill his pledge to provide good governance and better life for the citizenry. She also expressed the hope that women and youths would dominate Atiku’s cabinet, if voted into office. Also, Mrs Margaret Obi, the wife of Atiku’s running mate, Mr Peter Obi, said the meeting was organised for them to interact with Abia women “concerning what lies ahead of us as a nation.” Obi said, “I am hopeful that we have our Permanent Voter Cards which would serve as an instrument for effectively transforming the nation.” She urged the women to be part of the process of choosing the next leadership in the country, saying that Atiku had great plans for Nigerian women. Earlier, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, the wife of the Abia stated governor, gave the assurance that Abia women would give massive support to Atiku. “Abia women are straightforward, if they promise to support you, they will surely do so. “You are one of our own. If you emerge as the first lady of Nigeria, it guarantees us easy access to Aso Rock,” Ikpeazu said. The meeting adopted a four-point resolution, including the decision to vote massively for Atiku. It was further resolved that Atiku should extend micro-credit and other major federal government’s schemes to Abia women, if elected as president.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of releasing uncollected permanent voter cards to some governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku made the allegation in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, on Tuesday, January 15, while speaking at the presidential rally of his party. “Listen to this very carefully, we have information that INEC has been giving uncollected PVCs to the APC governors. So if a voter comes to your polling booths and you don’t know him, don’t allow him to vote because they want to steal your votes,” The Punch quoted Atiku as saying.

PoliticsRelease Of Nnamdi Kanu Tops List Of Conditions Igbo Senators Gave Buhari To Supp by yungcrae(op): 10:44am On Nov 12, 2016

The south east senators who recently visited President Muhammadu Buhari were said to have presented a list of demands before him before supporting the president’s $29.9 billion external loan bid.

According to Vanguard, President Buhari must focus on the poor state of infrastructure in the zone, the continuous detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), as well as a construction of a rail Standard Gauge Spur from Agbor to Onitsha.

There were several other requests listed as the conditions by the south east caucus of the Senate as they want to have a stake in the National Security Council with the funding of federal projects and institutions in the region as they lamented that they did not get up to 10 percent of appropriated funds in the zone in the past ten years.

Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu addressed journalists after the conditions were listed to the president, saying: “For us from the South East, we believe that dialogue is better than any other form of engagement. So we decided to visit the President and present to him some of the concerns of the South East including the issues of roads and infrastructure.

“We also discussed the issue of security with him and of course the issue of IPOB. We had a good conversation and he promised to look into the issues. This is the South East caucus in the Senate and we came to see the President because of the issues we have in the South East.

“We had a fruitful discussion with the President. He has promised us that he is going to look into the problems of South East. We know that there are problems everywhere but we also believe that the South East is the zone that is far much short-changed at this time than other zones.

“We also talked about the issue of appointments from the South East, especially with respect to the National Security Council. The President also told us that governors of the South East have also engaged him on the same problems. We were reassured by the response we got from the President and we look forward to further interaction with him in this manner.”

Recently, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) sounded a serious warning to President Buhari government over the purported plan to increase pump prices of fuel.

The union also refused to support Mr Buhari’s plan to borrow about $29 billion. NLC said the government should instead pursue and recover government funds stashed away and use same to fund infrastructural development

Nairaland General4 Easy Ways To Remove Toxins From Your Body Naturally by yungcrae(op): 10:31am On Nov 12, 2016
https://nigerianewsnow.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/no-toxins-507x437.jpg

To aid the body in detoxing naturally means getting rid of unhealthy substances/toxins which are present in water, food and in the air (smoke, fumes and other substances that pollute the air).

It’s not uncommon to see people detoxing with ‘special teas’ and ‘diets’ usually for a period that lasts for just a bit instead of detoxing as a habit and way more regularly- which is great to support liver functions as well keep the body running in the natural way its supposed to.Detoxing primarily helps to keep the eyes and skin glowing on the outside and from the inside; boosts energy level as well as aid digestion and general wellbeing.

There are natural ways to detoxify the body on a regular basis instead of waiting on it to ‘malfunction’ before trying to:

1. Lemon water
Lemon is great for detoxifying/aids detox from inside out. Lemon is loved for its alkaline properties which helps in the production of bile for the liver which in turn helps maintain the body’s PH balance keeping digestion smooth and the body running perfectly.

2. Water
Water is the commonest and easiest way to get rid of toxins in the body. Clean water aids the digestive process which in turn is great for metabolism. Drinking water first thing in the morning before eating helps a lot. Taking water at intervals every day is a great way to detoxify (and this costs next to nothing).

3. Green tea
Green tea is loaded with fat burning hormones which is great for boosting body metabolism. It also works for the general health of the body. They come in different variants including herbals which are best.

4. Oil Pulling
Oil pulling helps to detoxify the body and stimulates the hormones as well as the body metabolism which in turn induces weight loss.

Oil pulling is also great for teeth whitening apart from improving overall health. It’s simply swishing oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for a few minutes and then spit it out.

PoliticsUpdated: Suspected Bomb Found Near Shoprite Mall by yungcrae(op): 6:44pm On Nov 10, 2016
https://nignews.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/shoprite-photo.jpg

A parcel, suspected to be Improvised Explosives Device, has been found under the Jabi bridge, near the Shoprite shopping mall, Abuja.

Policemen, including operatives of the Anti-bomb squad, blocked the access road to the bridge, and directed motorists to alternative routes. The alarm, however turned out to be false as the bomb disposal unit discovered the parcel to be a container said to have been left under the bridge by the Federal Capital Territory Water Board.

Our correspondent who visited the scene, observed that the situation had normalised and motorists were allowed to access the road, which was earlier blocked.

A maize seller near the Shoprite mall, told our correspondent, that the container was kept under the bridge by the water board officials on Wednesday.

She said, “The police found out that it was not a bomb as speculated. What happened was that someone saw the food cooler and informed the Shoprite security guards about it and they called the police who blocked the road and checked the container for bomb, but nothing was found in it.”

When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Anjuguri Manzah, promised to obtain the status update from his superiors, but he had yet to get back to our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.

PoliticsNew LIST: Phones That WILL Be Able To Use Whatsapp After December 2016 by yungcrae(op): 3:58pm On Oct 28, 2016
https://nigerianewsnow.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/whatsapp-777x437.jpg

Whatsapp

So, we decided to compile another list of phones that will still be able to use the Whatsapp platform by December 2016. Whatsapp announced this on their blog on February 26, 2016:“Earlier this week WhatsApp turned seven years old. It has been an amazing journey and in the coming months we’re putting an even greater emphasis on security features and more ways to stay in touch with the people that you care about.

“But anniversary dates are also an opportunity to look back. When we started WhatsApp in 2009, people’s use of mobile devices looked very different from today.
“The Apple App Store was only a few months old. About 70 percent of smartphones sold at the time had operating systems offered by BlackBerry and Nokia. Mobile operating systems offered by Google, Apple and Microsoft – which account for 99.5 percent of sales today – were on less than 25 percent of mobile devices sold at the time.

“As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:

– BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
– Nokia S40
– Nokia Symbian S60
– Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
– Windows Phone 7.1
– iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

Therefore here are the phones that will still be supported by the end of 2016:

– Nokia Android phones with versions higher than 2.2 (The Nokia Android C1 is set to be released in 2017)

Phones like Infinix, Techno and Samsung phones using Android versions like:

– Andriod Lollipop

– Android Marshmallow

– Android Nougat

Windows phones with versions higher than 7, like:

– Windows phone 7.5

– Windows phone 8

– Windows phone 8.1

– Windows 10 mobile
Iphones with iOS versions higher than iOS 6, so you have to update your Iphone to versions like:

– iOS 7

– iOS 8

– iOS 9

– iOS 10

Whatsapp concluded their press release saying:

“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”

Margaret Alamieseyeigha, widow of late former Bayelsa governor Diepreye has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being responsible for her husband’s death and not the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Leadership reports that Margaret dropped the shocking revelation on Monday, October 24 at the one-year remembrance of her late husband.According to her, it was the actions of Diepreye’s party PDP that eventually led to his death and not whatever APC, which came into power just last year, did.“I can categorically say today that it was the PDP that arrested my husband, seized all his properties and humiliated him to the point of his death. It is PDP that killed my husband and not the APC. It was PDP that arrested my husband, it was PDP that humiliated my husband and killed him. At the end they seized everything that belonged to him.“It was the PDP that tormented my husband and he died as a result of the humiliation he suffered in the hands of the PDP. As far as am concerned, the humiliated me and took everything away from us.”

Margaret is also unhappy with Ijaw people who she claimed played a part in Diepreye’s death by selling him out to the PDP.“When my husband took over the mantle of leadership, he saw how his people were suffering. As an intelligent man, he saw the need to fight for resource control as the way out for his people.”

“But at the end it is the same people that he fourth for that betrayed him. They sold him out to the PDP that eventually killed him. I want to advise the Ijaw people to stop betraying their leaders, so that they can move forward.”

PoliticsKaduna Govt Upholds Religious Freedoms, All Constitutional Rights by yungcrae(op): 5:55pm On Oct 22, 2016

Governor El-Rufai-led Kaduna state government has reiterated its respect for the fundamental right of every resident to practice the religion of his choice.

The Special Assistant to Kaduna State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Samuel Aruwan stated this at a news briefing in Kaduna.
He said that Government had a responsibility to uphold the fundamental right and security of everyone by ensuring that, no individual or group exercise their right by infringing on the right of others.

He explained that, Government did not and cannot ban any religious practice but only declared Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, popularly known as shiite as unlawful because its activities threaten public peace.

Recall that the Kaduna State Government had, following its deliberations at its meeting of Thursday, 06 October 2016, issued an order declaring the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) an unlawful society.

The ban had read that “Whoever manages, or is a member of the said Society under any appellation or mutation with the propensity of causing the breakdown of law and order, or operates in a manner dangerous to the good governance of the State shall, from commencement of this order, be prosecuted in accordance with the Laws of Kaduna State.”

Also recall that The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) had equally said it would institute a legal action against the Kaduna State Government for declaring the group illegal.

The Spokesperson of the movement, Ibraheem Musa had told newsmen in Kaduna that the ban announced by the government was illegal.

“Its an infringement on our basic right as citizens of the country. “We are not going to be intimidated into taking any violence or unlawful activity but will take legal action against the Kaduna State Government for the infringement,“ he had said.

However, the Special Assistant to the Kaduna state governor, Mr Samuel Aruwan argued that, before the Islamic Movement in Nigeria was declared unlawful, the Group had consistently blocked roads and occupied public facilities without permission among other violations.

Mr Aruwan pointed out that the state government which released the gazette on the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the clashes between members of the Movement and the Nigerian Army in Zaria found out that the Group was unregistered and recommended immediate steps be taken by Government.

He maintained that the activities of the movement if allowed to go unchecked, would continue to pose danger to the peace, tranquillity and harmonious coexistence in the State.

Mr Aruwan noted that, the State Government insist that, only law enforcement agencies have the authority to prevent and deter violations of law or arrest violators.

He warned that, nobody should take the laws into their hands, rather, it is the duty of every citizen to report any illegal action or suspicious activities to the security agencies for necessary action.

PoliticsEXPOSED: How President Buhari Appointed First ‘cabal’ Into His Government by yungcrae(op): 5:37pm On Oct 21, 2016
https://nigerianewstoday.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/President-Muhammadu-Buhari-.png

The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, in her recent interview granted to the BBC Hausa, claimed that the government of her husband has been hijacked by the unknown cabals.

Mrs Buhari warned the president that she may not support his re-election in 2019 if the president fails to reshuffle his ministers.President Buhari fired back by saying the first lady belongs in the kitchen.Aisha Buhari did not give names, but some Nigerians suppose that among these cabals are Chief Abba Kyari and Mamman Daura, Buhari’s uncle, who allegedly stands behind many presidents’ decisions.

Meanwhile, John Paden, the authorised biographer of President Buhari, in his last book gives insight how Chief Kyari appeared in the incumbent government.

According to the biographer, the decision to appoint a chief of staff came to Buhari when the officials the officials who had served under President Jonathan undermining Buhari’s efforts to reengage with the international community.

Paden reveals that the speech of the Nigerian leader during his first visit to the USA was modifying really suggesting that the US government was aiding and abetting Boko Haram.

The speech was written in a way that it sounded like “President Buhari was repeating the arguments of President Jonathan, not staking out a new position.”

The book reads in part: “In subsequent, private discussion with the author of the original speech, it was clear that sections 16 and 17 had not been part of the original speech and were inserted by the officials who had served under President Jonathan. Evidently, members of the old guard were intent on undermining Buhari’s efforts to reengage with the international community.“Buhari needed a chief of staff who could monitor such matters and also help manage Buhari’s time so he was not so rushed as to make such missteps. On his return to Abuja, Buhari announced the appointment of Abba Kyari as chief of staff. Kyari is from Borno, with family ties in Bama (Borno state), and is a longtime friend and confidant of Buhari’s. Most observers agreed that Kyari was an excellent choice.”

Since the inauguration, the USA has been among the top visited countries by President Buhari.

The Nigerian leader spent 28 days in the USA, 19 in the UK (including his vacation) and 9 days in France.
