The Federal Fire Service launched the maiden training/retreat on Command and Leadership for its top management staff in Akure, Ondo state on the 4th of October, 2021 The One week training is to be carried out by one of the Service's consulting firm, Vail Consultant Ltd. The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Dr. Alhaji Liman Ibrahim, MifireE, icca, in his welcome address, revealed that the retreat was birthed for the purpose of equipping the top senior staff of the Service, with multi-dimensional management skills, geared at equipping them for managerial performance on the job, and hand on skills in handling management of fire safety and other related emergencies. The CGF also added that the retreat focuses on enabling the participants to knowing the roles and responsibilities of fire Chief Officers, some salient areas of the Public service rules, the Fire service rules and regulations, and major incident management procedures amongst others. Dr. Liman as always, aired his unreserved appreciation to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari who has turned a favourable sight to the Service since 2016 with the duo of the formal Minister of Interior, Gen. Dambazau and the current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for their unflinching support and commitment scaling the Service to exponential growth. He recalled that the Service under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari can now boast of owning 141 modern firefighting trucks while 59 are ready for delivery in November, 2021, with presence in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT. He also stated that the Service presently have a staff strength of over 6000 Officers and Men The CG revealed that aside from the year 2020 when staff could not be trained due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Staff of the Service have undergone several trainings both locally and internationally. The Controller used the opportunity to laud the gesture of the Ondo state Governor, His Excellency Rotimi Akeredolu SAN who donated land to the Service for the construction of its Zonal Command in Ondo state. Delivering his opening/flagg off speech at the event, the Minister, Ministry of Interior, ably represented by the Director, Joint Services, Mr. Peter Egbodo hailed the initiative of the Controller General for the training and expressed that the retreat is apt, and will in no doubt provide avenue for strategic thinking to chart a better future for the agency. The representative of the Minister charged the participants to yield themselves to the training, and to also apply the knowledge impact on their work hereafter, embracing mentoring of subordinates who will one day take over the mantle of leadership of the organisation. On the other hand, the representative, Executive governor, Ondo state, represented by the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and infrastructure, Alexander Alake said that the training is worthwhile and should be continuous, while encouraging the Service to make good use of the newly acquired equipments and engage in proper maintenance of the said equipments.

For the individuals who have not had the delight of knowing Endy, he is the Founder and Chairman of Endy Ogwo Foundation, an Humanitarian organisation which has over the years touched the lives of the less privileged in Abia state and Nigeria in general. his ultimate goal has always been to contribute to the growth and development of humanity which is practically reflected in Endy Ogwo Foundation. An organizations that is keen on giving hope to the hopeless and enriching minds and lives. These includes empowering the less privileged in various communities in Abia State, scholarship opportunities , building of houses for the less fortunate, sponsoring people abroad for either studies or greener pastures. The consistency of all these culminates to the series of international and local awards recognising his contribution to the betterment of humanity. As his compassion and love for the less fortunate sees him donating to good causes around his locality and beyond. Conclusively, he is also a philanthropist and has put smiles on the faces of many people especially indigenes of his hometown in Abia State. He has magnanimously transformed his community with several amenities for the benefit of members of his community. Aside all these, Endy stands like a colossus in the area of philanthropy.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbeshola on Tuesday said that the Federal Fire Service (FFS) has saved Nigerians N15 trillion worth of property in fighting fire disaster within second quarter of the year. Aregbeshola made the disclosure at the Commissioning of Fire Fightings Truck in Jalingo. He said that 166 lives were saved under the period under review, adding that 27 lives had been lost to fire disasters. The minister also confirmed that 638 fire calls were received by the service, adding that Nigerians lost property worth N3 trillion to fire disasters with the period. He said that fire prevention was a collective responsibility, adding that the Federal government had donated a state of the art fire Fighting equipment to the state. According to him, this is part of the 10.4 billions approved by the federal executive council. Aregbeshola said that President Muhammadu buhari has reposition FFS to function in line with it's mandate of humanitarian services. He also said that the equipment would be maned by well trained and dedicated personel. He attributed increasing fire insedeces to climate change. He advised Nigerians not to overlook the outlook of our Fire officers. He also advised states to establish robust fire service within their domain to complement FFS, stressing the need to make privisions to rural areas to enhance fire safety across the country. He also noted that most houses in urban centres lacked fire prevention mechanism. He therefore, urged leaders to mobilize the people to prevent fire and report fire alerts to authorities. The minister offered free training for fire officers from States and local fire services. Inclusion of FIre service into security council, training of fire staff, provision for two vehicles among others. In his remarks, Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba said that Nigeria had recorded a tremendous improvement in containing with fire outbreaks. According to him, this is first time that fire service will be put on the front burner. Ishaku noted that the evastating causes of fire cannot be underemphasised. He said that his administration had inherited 15 ricketee vehicles in fire service, adding that the state had deployed resources to revamp the moribund state fire service. "We trained our state fire command and we will continue to support fire fighting to prevent damages of residential homes, markets and other public places. "We will also sustain the training and provide utility vehicles to the command. He commend the Federal government for the gift of the fire fighting vehicle. Earlier, Dr Liman Ibrahim, Controller General of the service commended the governor for support to the agency in carrying out it statutory duties in the state. Ibrahim requested the governor to among other things provide two utility vehicles as well as the inclusion of the service into the state security council. He assured the state of a robust collaboration with the state in saving lives and properties in terms of fire disasters.

The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service Condemns the Attack on Firefighters in Kogi State. - He said perpetrators must be brought to book The Controller General, Dr. Liman Ibrahim says the attack on firefighters and fire trucks by hoodlums is unacceptable and those responsible will definitely not go unpunished. The attack took place on Wednesday, 9th September 2021 along Felele road when firefighters were turning out to a car fire at Al-Salam fuel station opposite Kogi State Polytechnic. The State command had received a fire call concerning a car fire, while approaching the scene, mob armed with dangerous weapons began to attack the truck which was conveying firefighters. Thereby destroying parts of the truck and injuring firefighters who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. This is the second time in Kogi State firefighters will be attacked. The matter has since been reported to the Police for investigation and subsequent arrest of those responsible. The Chief Security Officer of the Kogi State Government house has also been informed. Dr. Liman who has vowed that those behind this dastardly act will surely be punished reiterates that it is a criminal offence for anyone to attack firefighters or fire truck for whatsoever reasons. He further says that his directive of blacklisting any community who continuously attacks firefighters still stands and that henceforth any state government that can not ensure the protection of Federal Fire Service firefighters and equipments in their states will leave the Service with no other option but to withdraw its presence from the State,as he will not fold his hands and watch his men been maimed and killed as well as fire trucks worth millions of Naira been destroyed. The Controller General who says this attack which is one amongst many has further substantiated his call for the establishment of an armed squad in the Federal Fire Service known as Fire Police who will be saddled with the responsibility of protecting firefighters and fire trucks at fire scenes, because this hoodlums are emboldened to attack firefighters because they know that they don't have the protection of armed men. The CG has called on the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Yahya Bello to address this barbaric act by citizens of the state so as to avoid it's reoccurrence.

The Controller General, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim revives a 25 year old abadoned hydraulic platform in Lagos state. CG FFS embarked on a remarkable journey by fixing the Service's old hydraulic platform that has been off the run for the last 25 years. The hydraulic platform which is used for rescue in High rise buildings had been in a bad condition before the assumption of duty by the CG of FFS. While receiving the CG at the Zone L headquarters the Zonal commander ACG Ajasa Kehinde expressed uttermost appreciation to the CGF in ensuring that such a neglected asset was back on the run. In line with his commitment to deliver effective and efficient fire fighting, prevention and control service delivery, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Liman MIFire.E, FPA, ICCA, Controller General Federal Fire Service is leaving no stone unturned in his quest. Plateau state government house Jos was the destination of call on the 16th of June, 2021, following the commissioning of the fire fighting truck as presented by the Federal Fire Service through the Controller General. In a presentation ceremony geared towards reaffirming the unarguable commitment of the Federal Fire Service towards efficient fire fighting, control and prevention, Dr. Ibrahim, Alhaji Liman MIFire.E, FPA, ICCA, CG federal fire Service presented the fire truck to the Executive Governor of Plateau state Simon Lalong and the Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden. The Executive Governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong thanked the Federal Fire Service under the leadership of Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Liman, and most importantly, the Governor also thanked the Hon. Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbosola for approving the deployment of the fire truck to the good people of Plateau State. He further highlighted the importance of a well-equipped fire truck in the State. He called on citizens of Plateau state to imbibe a safety culture, while further calling for a total halt to the obstruction of the fire fighters when carrying out their duties, while instructing the state development control to see that illegal structures that hinder access to fire scenes are attended to and caution those who put up such structures to desist. He reassured the CG Federal Fire Service of his continued support in collaborating with the FFS to ensure safety of lives and property of the plateau State People. Dr. Ibrahim, Alhaji Liman, CG of the Federal Fire Service on the other hand called on the good people of Plateau state to be good ambassadors of safety, while reiterating the need for them to have first aid fire fighting knowledge to be able to cub fire spread before the arrival of fire fighters. He went further to thank the President and Commander in Chief, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for his continued efforts at ensuring that fire fighters get the necessary tools to attend to fire promptly and efficiently, while also mentioning that unequalled leadership style of the Hon.Minister of Interior, Rauf aregbesola has been instrumental to their success story. In attendance at the ceremony was Jacob Gyang Buba (Gbon Gbon Jos) amongst other critical stakeholders and state actors of Plateau state.
