The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has said that the National Assembly is concerned about the mounting debts of the country resulting from persistent borrowings.

There have been growing concerns on the loans taken by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government as analysis puts the country’s domestic debt stock at N18trillion.

A family member has narrated how Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo State died.

Sahara Reporters had reported the death of the former governor in the early hours of Wednesday at the age of 71.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, told the newsmen that the late Alao-Akala returned to Ogbomoso on Tuesday from Abuja, where he had gone to felicitate with a former Majority Leader of House of Representatives, Mulikat Akande-Adeola, on her birthday. No fewer than 81,005 candidates have applied for Nigeria Police Force wishes ongoing 2021 recruitment exercise.



Out of the 81,005 applications received nationwide as of January 7, 2022, 1,404 applications less than 2% of the total applications were received from the five states in the South East.

Only 261 applications were also received from Lagos State, with Anambra State having the least figure of 158 applicants.

Two London men have been arrested on human trafficking charges as part of a cold case investigation into the disappearance of a 14 years United Kingdom boy on a subway platform in the city in 2007.

Police from South Yorkshire and their Metropolitan Police counterparts in London said they nabbed two men, 45 and 38 years old. However, they've already been "released under investigation," meaning they were not charged, but police are still working the case.

Both were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and human trafficking. The 45 years is also accused of possessing indecent images of children.

Contractors have allegedly abandoned multi-billion naira road projects at Akipelai, Ayakoro and Otuoke communities in Bayelsa State exposing them to dangers of being washed away by coastal erosion.

The Shore Erosion Control Works project, with a 14-month completion period, was given in March 2012 during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Jonathan hails from Otuoke, a coastal community some kilometres from Yenagoa, the state capital.

The contract was awarded for N7.5billion by the Nigerian Ports Authority as part of its corporate social responsibility following agitations by the residents.

A 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing an Afghan refugee to death has denied murder today as he appeared in court.

The teenager, who cannot be named, allegedly knifed Hazrat Wali, 18, during a fight on a footbridge in Twickenham, west London, at around 4.45pm on October 12 last year.

At least Ten people have been confirmed dead as a building housing Salvation Ministry, Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, collapsed.

According to a report by Vanguard, the collapsed building also trapped an unspecified number of worshippers.

The building, which is being used for the first time, reportedly collapsed at about 5:55pm during Tuesday evening's service.

Meanwhile, eight persons have been rescued unhurt, while four persons have been rushed to the Asaba Specialist Hospital.

At the time of filing this report, Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah; the state's Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi, a team of Red Cross officers, and firefighters were on ground on a rescue mission.
