Thank you so much everyone for your input. All your advise are valuable, I have gotten a different perspective.
Family / Go Alone Or With My Family To The Uk by yuppyz(m): 8:11am On May 11, 2022
Hello Everyone,

I really need your thought on this matter, especially from people who have had similar experience.

I'm married with two kids, one is 2yrs old and the second is about 7mths. I was planning on relocating with my family to the UK on student Visa. I have secured admission, just to pay deposit and apply for visa. Two of my friends that are in the UK already are suggesting that my wife should come as the student while I come as the dependant so I can get open work permit. But my wife is currently a nursing mum, and non of her doc are ready.

And, if she comes with me as a dependant, I don't know the possibility of her coping with work and two little kids while I'm a student with Just 20hr to work.

I'm thinking of going alone first, let me see go and survey the land while my wife stay back and still be managing our business. I am very skeptical about burning all my bridges here while going to a foreign land with wife and little kids.

My only concern is, I heard the UK go will not allow you to bring your family if you have less than 6 months to the end of your studies.

Lastly I do not want to stay so long and faraway from my family.

Kindly advise

Business / Checkout The Value Of Naira Against Some Other African Currency by yuppyz(m): 1:46pm On Aug 22, 2016
I was checking exchange rates last night on www.xe.com and was shocked to my bone when I discovered that one million naira is just equivalent to 11,462.90 GHS Ghana Cedi.

How did we get here, how did our naira become so worthless? Below is a screenshot for some other countries.

What is your take on this.

Business / Help! Bank Wants To Finish My Money by yuppyz(m): 6:35am On Apr 08, 2016
My fellow Nairalander, last month I received multiple debit alert of N280 and N100 respectively on two of my accounts as monthly withdrawal fees. I just overlooked it as I do not have the time to go to the bank to investigate the reason for those debits. But just last night, I got another alert of N1,229.25 and N525.07 inclusive of VAT.
Did anyone get a similar alert from First Bank or any other banks? Please share your thoughts.

Politics / Norway's Police Only Fired Two Bullets Last Year... And No One Was Killed by yuppyz(m): 4:38am On Aug 06, 2015
Police in Norway fired their guns only twice last year – and no one was hurt – new statistics which reveal the country’s low level of gun use have shown.
Norwegian officers drew their weapons just 42 times in 2014, the lowest number of times in the last 12 years. Only two people were killed in police shootings in the same period.
The majority of Norway’s police, like forces in Britain, Ireland and Iceland, patrol unarmed and carry guns only under special circumstances.

In the US, where officers are armed at all times, 547 people have been killed by police during the first six months of 2015 alone, 503 of them by gunshot.

UK police have a similarly low rate of gun use to Norway. One person was fatally shot by British police in 2014.
In the first 24 days of 2015, US police shot and killed 59 people, which is more than police in England and Wales did in the last 24 years (55).
With the difference in populations taken into account, US citizens are still around 100 times more likely to be shot by police than British citizens are.
"Any attempts to roll back the militarization of the American police would need to be accompanied by policies that increase economic and racial equality and legitimate opportunity for advancement for the poor," a sociology professor at Northern Michigan University, told The Washington Post.
US police are faced with greater day-to-day violence than most developed countries. In 2013, 30 officers were fatally shot while on duty.
The last time a British officer was killed by gunshot was in 2012 when two female police constables were shot in Manchester.
Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said in a statement at the time, "Sadly we know from the experience in America and other countries that having armed officers certainly does not mean, sadly, that police officers do not end up getting shot."

Politics / APC Seeks Probe Of NLNG Payments Under Jonathan by yuppyz(m): 3:30am On Jul 13, 2015
The All Progressives Congress has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan over $5.5bn dividends said to have been paid to the Federal Government by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, urged the Buhari-led Federal Government to also probe the taxes and dividends accruable to the Jonathan administration through the NLNG in the last six years.

The statement said, “We can tell Nigerians that apart from the said $1.6bn NLNG payment for 2015, NLNG also paid $1.4bn as Income Tax/Education Tax in May 2014, paid $0.3bn as Education Tax to the FG in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and $1.2bn in VAT and Withholding Tax to the FG since 2009. These payments are just those made in the past six years alone, hence there were other payments before then.

“In addition, dividend payments totaling $4,728,136,946 was paid to the Federal Government between 2004 and 2009, out of which only $127,851,348.19 was credited to the Federal Government’s Independent Account with JP Morgan, leaving a balance of over $4bn. The questions to ask, therefore, are why were all the past taxes and dividends neither fully paid into the Federation Account nor shared by the three tiers of government and what happened to the funds?”

The APC’s demand for probe was against the backdrop of an allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party that the $2.1bn approved by Buhari to be shared among states of the federation was from the Excess Crude Account.

The ruling party insisted that the $2.1bn was not taken by the Presidency from the ECA and that it was wrong and misleading of the opposition party to make such an allegation.

“Whereas the Presidency corrected the initial erroneous report that the shared money was sourced from the Excess Crude Account, the skittish opposition continued to insist it was from the ECA and that it was part of the ‘savings’ by the Jonathan administration,” the APC added.

The party, therefore, asked the Federal Government to probe the immediate past government on where it kept the $5.5bn which it said was the dividend paid to the Federal Government by the NLNG before the May 29 handover.

“We didn’t see the $5.5bn in the system. Let them show Nigerians where it is,” the APC said.

It advised the opposition to desist from telling lies, stressing that the Buhari government was committed to clearing the rot by the past government and ensure that all funds due to the federation account were paid.

The statement added, “According to the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan asked that the money be ‘left for the incoming administration to manage’. It is important for the party, therefore, to tell Nigerians in which account the money was ‘saved’ because it is definitely not in the Federation Account.

“Had the PDP embraced these cardinal principles, it would not have in the rush to belittle the package that was approved for the states by President Buhari and to discredit his administration, engaged in outright lies and selective perception.

“While the PDP became fixated on the source of the money shared by the states, it forgot that there were other measures in the package that included a special intervention fund of between N250bn and N300bn from the Central Bank of Nigeria as a soft loan available to states to access for the purpose of paying the backlog of salaries.

"The PDP also forgot the debt relief programme designed to assist the states to restructure their commercial loans of N660bn – with a view to extending the lifespan of such loans and reducing the states’ debt-servicing expenditures. That way, the states are freed from their perennial inability to pay workers’ salaries, and more funds are available to the various governments to use for the benefit of the people.”

“They have forgotten that the only time in the country’s history that this kind of rescue package was made was also during the tenure of Muhammadu Buhari as military Head of State.”

The opposition party, in a statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, described as “misleading and outright falsehood” the statement credited to the APC.

It said, “The truth is that the NLNG had been on a 10-year tax haven until 2014. Within this period, successive governments, right from President Olusegun Obasanjo, never shared nor tampered with the cumulative dividends.

“Whatever taxes paid from the NLNG went through the Federal Inland Revenue Services and recorded as part of the income of the Federal Government. It is imperative to note that by the end of the tenure of President Goodluck Jonathan, NLNG dividends had risen to a cumulative $5.6bn and not a single cent was ever taken from the funds.”

Op, of course you are taking advantage of her. You should have allowed the closeness between you guys to go deeper before trying to go in. Can you just walk up to the girl in question when she was still with her bf and try to sleep with her? Apart from hockers, girls hardly give their body to a man they don't have affection for. She probably just allowed u kissed her because she has no choice. If you wanna eat everything, convert her to your girl, by proving to her that you wanna be part of her life. Housing her is not a licence to sleep with her, anybody can be stranded. You can also be in her shoe someday.
