Nigeria has dominated the list of TOP 100 most influential people in Africa, published by New African Magazine. One of the most notable among 23 Nigerians who made the list is an 11-year-old Nigerian girl, Zuriel Oduwole.Zuriel, whose Hebrew name means ‘For God is my Rock’, was featured in the magazine for her fight for the education of women. Miss Oduwole was born and raised in the United States and, of mixed parentage, a Nigerian father and an American-Jewish mother. She lives in California in the United States. This summer she made history, when she became the youngest person to be interviewed by the influential Forbes Magazine. The award winning documentary film maker, conference speaker and writer is featured in the August 2013 edition of Forbes Africa. Miss Oduwole has visited China, where she learnt to speak and write Mandarin or Chinese. She speaks a bit of Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. The girl also travelled to Switzerland, France, United Kingdom, Grenada, Turkey, Antigua, Australia, Fiji, Mexico, Ghana, Egypt, Mauritius, South Africa, Tanzania and, of course, Nigeria, her fatherland. At the age 11, Oduwole has interviewed leading African personalities, including eight African presidents, Africa’s richest person Aliko Dangote and tennis super stars – Venus and Serena Williams. Touted by some as the next Oprah Winfrey, Oduwole is reportedly committed to rebrand Africa by showing the positive things in about the continent, and making the case for education the Girl Child in Africa and Emerging Markets. Other notable names in the list are music producer Don Jazzy, business mogul Aliko Dangote, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde , Idris Elba , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Alek Wek , Chiwetei Ejiofor, David Adjaye , DJ Sbu , former South African president Thabo Mbeki , Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, El Anatsui , Lupita Nyong’o , Omar Sy, P Square , Trevor Noah , Fatuomata Diawaraa and NoViolet Bulawayo. Also, the oldest woman on the list is the former foreign minister of Somaliland, Edna Adan (76), famous for fighting for women’s rights and health. The criteria of selecting the influential people is explained below: “In defining what passes for ‘influence’, New African has been careful to note that while there is indeed for a wide array of qualities and proclivities that earmark people as ‘influential’, a person’s impact on the wide public, social and political community is one of the greatest indicators of influence. Bearing in mind that popularity doesn’t necessarily mean influential, New African Magazine has compiled its list of 100 most influential Africans, 23 of them being Nigerians. The list offers a glimpse into the diverse breed of young and established leaders intent on reinventing the face of Africa… They include entrepreneurs, spiritual leaders, political game-changers, and sporting record breakers to name but a few.” |

Bireports gathered that, it was because Moruf did not consent to the homosexual behaviour that led to the report of the incident, which resulted in the arrest of the accused persons after being on the run for some time. The offence committed by the accused persons according to the charge contravened sections 516, 249(D) and 217 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.11 Laws of Osun 2003. The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to them and their counsel, Barrister Nnena Ngwu applied for their bail in the most liberal term. Police prosecutor, Inspector Solomon Oladele did not oppose the bail application. Ruling on the matter, Chief Magistrate Olusola Aluko, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. Aluko added that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, swear to affidavit of means and provide three years tax clearance certificate and two clear passport photographs to the court. |
The State of Osun Police Command has arraigned two suspected homosexual teenage boys, Samuel Friday(19) and Oni Oluwatobi (18) before an Osogbo Chief Magistrate Court on alleged charge of indecent sexual practice and indecently seducing another into homosexuality. A charge sheet made available to Bioreports on Thursday October 3, 2013, stated that the accused persons conspired and unlawfully committed indecent sexual practice and homosexual sex between themselves which could cause breach of peace. According to the charge, the accused persons committed the offence sometime in May 2012, at about 2am, at Peace of Jesus Apostolic Church, Asubiaro Area, Osogbo. The charge further stated that, in the same vein in May 2012, at about 4pm , at Sadiat Area, Ilesha Road, Osogbo, Samuel Friday indecently seduced one Oladipupo Moruf by indecently touching him on his private part and sucking his penis. |
From the very day of Clement V's coronation, the king falsely charged the Templars with heresy, immorality and abuses, and the scruples of the Pope were compromised by a growing sense that the burgeoning French State might not wait for the Church, but would proceed independently. However, experts agree that this is a relatively recent correlation, and most likely a modern-day invention. # AyushShanks https://m.facebook.com/story.php?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C9927830459 |

*.One author, noting that references are all but nonexistent before 1907 but frequently seen thereafter, has argued that its popularity derives from the publication that year of Thomas W. Lawson's popular novelFriday, the Thirteenth, in which an unscrupulous brokertakes advantage of the superstition to create a Wall Streetpanic on a Friday the 13th. *.Records of the superstition are rarely found before the 20th century, when it became extremely common. The connection between the Friday the 13th superstition and the Knights Templar was popularized in Dan Brown's 2003 novel The Da Vinci Codeand in John J. Robinson's 1989 workBorn in Blood: The Lost Secrets of Freemasonry. On Friday, 13 October 1307, hundreds of the Knights Templar were arrested in France, an action apparently motivated financially and undertaken by the efficient royal bureaucracy to increase the prestige of the crown. Philip IV was the force behind this ruthless move, but it has also tarnished the historical reputation of Clement V. |
*.In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the clock, twelve gods of Olympus, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Apostlesof Jesus, the 12 successors of Muhammad in Shia Islam, twelve signs of the Zodiac, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness. There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supperor a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table results in the death of one of the diners. *. Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century's The Canterbury Tales, and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys or begin new projects. *. Friday is also the day when Jesus Christ was crucified, making it through folklore and adding to its unpopularity. |
Friday The 13th!! Today is Friday the 13th and i want to tell you all the reason why it is considered the most unlucky day in the world. Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. According to folklorists, there is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century. The earliest known documented reference in English occurs in Henry Sutherland Edwards' 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini, who died on a Friday 13th. He [Rossini] was surrounded to the last by admiring friends; and if it be true that, like so many Italians, he regarded Fridays as an unlucky day and thirteen as an unlucky number, it is remarkable that one Friday 13th of November he died. Several theories have been proposed about the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition. One theory states that it is a modern amalgamation of two older superstitions: that thirteenis an unlucky number and that Friday is an unlucky day. |
According to the chairman who presided over a monthly meeting of all the 12 PFN provinces in the state, it is only fair and just, that in line with God’s will, “Christians, Muslims and all others of different faiths, as stakeholders, to elect a bona fide Christian of integrity, who will take over the mantle of leadership from Gov. Fashola in 2015.” He therefore called on all Christians in Lagos to be prepared for the great challenge ahead, stressing that they must all go out during the voters registration exercise and be prepared to vote in all the elections ahead. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the state PFN also gave out cheques to two provinces in the state to alleviate the suffering of gospel ministers in the rural areas of the state. The beneficiary included the Epe and Ifako/Ijaiye areas of the state. SOURCE:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/its-time-for-christian-governor-in-lagos/ |
LAGOS State branch of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has hailed the last two administrations in the state since 1999 but insists that the successor of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola who should take over the mantle of leadership in the state should be a Christian in the interest of justice and equity. In a statement titled; ‘The Church and Governance of Lagos State’ read by the chairman of Lagos PFN, Apostle Alex Bamgbala the umbrella body of Pentecostalism in the state, said Christians have supported the two Muslim administrations in the state since 1999 and it is only fair that they give room for their Christian counterparts to be elected in 2015. “We note with pride that many of our people of the Christian faith, who of course, form the majority of the population of Lagos State without any doubt, have supported these two great leaders (Tinubu and Fashola) with their votes, during the past state elections since 1999. |
Believe it or not this is how Big Brother Africa, BBA 2013 representative from Nigeria, Beverly Osu looked last night at her welcome party in Lagos state. . The word on the streets is that Beverly looked satanic after two apparent Illuminati symbols were spotted in on her forehead in the photo she took with actor IK Ogbonna and Alex Ekubo. . Is that V-mark a scar or something deeply spiritual? . A source identified as Tochi who sent the picture said the mark on Beverly Osu’s forehead is a popular Illuminati symbol and coincidentally BBA has been linked to the Illuminatisecret society. . Beverly Osu became a controversial figure after a series of adult scene from the naked shower hour on the recently concluded BBA, The Chase. . God have mercy o! Is this for real? Gess uncovered the scorpion fragments — with a pincer and a sting clearly showing in the rock — near Grahamstown in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. By the end of the Silurian period, some 416 million years ago, predatory invertebrates such as scorpions and spiders were feeding on invertebrates such as primitive insects who were the early land colonisers. Laurasia was known to have invertebrates by the Late Silurian and during the Devonian period, when it was separated from Gondwana by the sea. “For the first time we know for certainthat not just scorpions, but whatever they were preying on were already present in the Devonian,” added Gess. “We now know that by the end the Devonian period Gondwana also, likeLaurasia, had a complex terrestrial ecosystem, comprising invertebrates and plants which had all the elementsto sustain terrestrial vertebrate life that emerged around this time or slightly later,” said Gess. The first vertebrates, from which humans eventually evolved, appeared some 350 million years ago. |
CAPE TOWN (AFP) – A 350-million-year-old fossilised scorpion discovered in South Africa is the oldest known land animal to have lived on Gondwana, part of Earth’s former supercontinent, a university said Monday. The new species, named Gondwanascorpio emzantsiensis, provides tantalising clues about the development of life before Earth’s continents broke apart to form the globe that is familiar to us today, scientists said. It is the earliest evidence yet of terrestrial animals on Gondwana, a land mass that included present-day Africa, South America and Australia and formed the southern part of a supercontinent called Pangaea. So far evidence of such early land lifehad only been found on the northern part of Pangaea — “Laurasia,” which istoday North America and Asia. “There has been no evidence that Gondwana was inhabited by land living invertebrate animals at that time,” said Robert Gess who is basedat the Evolutionary Studies Institute atWits University. |
We met with the Chairman of KWSIEC, Dr Uthman Ajidagba, he feigned ignorance. He said he didn’t know where the electoral officer was and some of his junior officers. We met with the chairman and about three or four other officers of the commission and they promised that the result would be announced. They said we should return on Sunday morning by 10am, but surprisingly by around 5am we started hearing from Kwara Radio, the same KWSIEC chairman announcing the false results. “It was not in his place to announce any results. The results ought to be announced atthe point where the collation ought to have been concluded, which is the local government headquarters of KWSIEC. So for him to assume illegally the responsibility of the returning officer for the election in a local government is not acceptable. According to him, “If you have been following events of Saturday up till yesterday and this morning, you will discover that the local government election that was held in Offa, Offa local government area of the state onSaturday; the results were announced at the polling units; the results were collated in all the twelve wards. And we approached the local government collation centres where we expected that the results collated at the wards would be collated for final announcement of the winner of the election”. “Unfortunately, the returning officer who is the local government electoral officer of the Kwara state Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) just disappeared. He absconded and we waited there till about 10pm before the materials were moved to the headquarters of KWSIEC here in Ilorin that night. |

It would be recalled that KWASIEC declared candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abdulwaheed Olanipekun as the winner of the office of the chairman with all the councillors in the last Saturday local government election rerun in Offa. The protestors who poured to the major streets of Offa, headquarters of Offa local government area and Ilorin, the Kwara state capital demanded for the official results of the election. “In the last few weeks, these personshave invaded many Fulani clans and settlements to commit their crime of serial murder with impunity. This has resulted in the cold-blood murder of at least eleven of our brothers whosefamilies have been left in eternal grief.” SOURCE:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/08/11-herdsmen-killed-in-oyo/ |
IBADAN — NO feawer than eleven herdsmen have been killed in the last six weeks in some parts of Oke Ogunarea of Oyo State. The towns where the killings allegedly took place, according to the Fulani ethnic community in the state, are Otu, Ikomu, Igbo-Ora, Iwere-Ile, Iganna, Ilaju and Ado-Awaye. In a petition by the leaders of Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Salihu Kadiri and Mallam Muhammed SalihuKisi, National Chairman and General Secretary ,respectively, the herdsmencalled on Governor Abiola Ajimobi to do something urgently to prevent further loss of lives in the areas. They gave the names of some of those allegedly killed as Sanni Musa, Saidu Abdulahi, Ibraheem Haruna, Umar Babuga, Saliu Rebo and Muhammad Usman. They said: “Natives, particularly farmers and youths, kill our people at any slight provocation. The common excuses for such brutal killings are that our cattle are fond of destroying their farmlands or disturbing free flow of vehicular traffic on some major roads |
“Our Union is very apprehensive of the manner in which the sources of the initial N100 billion to be used for the stimulation of the process are shrouded in secrecy. We believe that monies that already belong to the university system should not be blocked and recycled. “This will not only be counterproductive but will brew evendeeper crises in the system. ASUU will not accept this. “We are also concerned that a clear procedure or process for assessing the funds by the universities is yet tobe defined. This concern is even more germane, given the statement of the Chairman of the Committee (during the last meeting on Monday, August 19, 2013) that the committeeis taking some documents to the Due Process Office. “We hasten to add that while due process must be followed, it is the sole responsibility of benefitting universities to respect all the provisions of the Procurement Act.
