Last week’s emotional outburst from rapper Mode 9 “I released an album and nobody cared” has gotten a bluntreply from fellow-rapper Rugged man… ‘Get another job or adapt’ he tells Mode 9.
Rugged Man was speaking on Hot FM’s breakfast radio show and did not mince words. He said “Mode 9 is not the only one that does the non-commercial kind of rap. Basicallyif you are an entertainer you can’t do music for yourself that’s why you are an entertainer.

The posters and banners of the running mate to the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in the 2011 presidential election, which were pasted in strategic locations of the metropolis, were prominent and conspicuous in Itoku, Isale Igbein, Ijaiye, Obantoko, Ake, Totoro, Iyana Mortuary and Lafenwa/Ayetoro Road areas.
Adeola and Ribadu contested for the Presidency on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria. The renowned banker could however not be reached by our correspondent for his comments.
But in his reaction, the State Publicity Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Sina Oduntan, said the development was a normal thing. He said everyone had the right to show interest in any elective position in the party.
He, however, described the recent action of the chairmen of the defunct ACN in the 20 local government areas of the state as"just an endorsement", stressing that it was not a consensus reached by the whole party.

Campaign posters and banners of the former Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Mr. Fola Adeola, on Wednesday flooded Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Surprised residents of the Abeokuta metropolis woke up to behold the campaign posters and banners announcing Adeola’s readiness to join the governorship race in Ogun State on the platform of the newly registered All Progressives Congress.

The development occurred barely a month after chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in the 20 local government areas of the state endorsed the incumbent Governor Ibikunle Amosun for a second term.

But the campaign posters and banners bearing the APC logo, party slogan and the inscription: “Change 2015, Fola Adeola for Governor” were believed to be the first step by the financial guru to dabble in the politics of his home state.

PoliticsLagos Labels Spare-Parts Dealers Security Threat by yusods(op): 7:38am On Aug 22, 2013
Lagos State Government says members of the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association, operating within the Trade Fair Complex on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, are constituting a security threat to the state.

The government explained that it adopted the view as a result of the refusal of the traders to comply with the law guiding their operations.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, said this at a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday, organised by the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency.

He said despite efforts to make the operators to regularise their business, ASPANDA members had refused to deal with the government, claiming that they operate within a Federal Government territory.

Opeifa, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Sheyi Coker, added that the position was no longer valid with the recent concessioning of the complex to private investors. He urged the traders to cooperate with the government in the overriding interest of all.

Opeifa said, “The insistence of ASPANDA that they operate outside the ambit of state government gives cause for concern.

“Lagos State Government has the primary responsibility for public safety and security within its domain. So, ASPANDA position is therefore inimical to the safety and security of the millions of law-abiding residents of the state.”

The commissioner said there was need for constant communication between auto spare parts dealers and the regulatory agency considering the large concentration of vehicles in the state.

He said the government would continue to provide a conducive environment for the dealers to do business in the state.

Permanent Secretary, MVAA, Mr. Akin Hanson, said auto and spare parts dealers were strategically positioned and could play a decisive role in crime prevention.

Ilorin – Two 500 level students of theDepartment of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ilorin, Ali David and Patrick Effiong, have constructed an aircraft prototype.
The duo told newsmen in Ilorin that they had nurtured the passion to construct the aircraft when they were in 100 level, adding that it was now their final year project.
David noted that many of his colleagues were sceptical when they first broached the subject, adding that they were not deterred by the challenges they faced.
“What we are actually working on is a machine that will lift up itself through the law of aerodynamics and having an engine, a propeller and the fuselage,” he added.
Effiong, on his part, said: “With some of our lecturers backing us, we were motivated; we decided that we can carry out the construction.
“Ali brought the idea to me that he had the dream of constructing an aircraft, but I didn’t really buy the idea then and I thought he had forgotten about it.

A good history of the university was that this university came into existence by an act of the National Assembly during the reign of President Shehu Shagari in 1982, unfortunately before the university could establish itself, the Military regime that took over suspended the act and that was the reason the university was in dormancy until when civilian rule under Obasanjo came on board and re cooperated the university in 2002 while in 2003, we started our academic programmes.
“When Obasanjo became a student of the institution,he thought that it was an easy thing to do. When hewas given all the courses, he realised it wasn’t easy and so he had to defer hisadmission. He said I wouldnot take part in this until I finished my tenure as President and so he neverstudied while he was the President until he completed his tenure, thenhe started the course. He did a Post Graduate Diploma in Christian Theology.

They say they cannot fathom whether Obahiagbon featured on the programme as an analyst or for a comic relief.
“Does this man care that it takes clear communication to encourage listening? Does he really care to talkto be understood? I’d see differently, were it a comedy show or a medical appointment,” a YouTube user, Samuel Abiodun, notes.
An anonymous visitor to kemifilani.com, one of the blogs where the video was shared, says, “This man ought to be arrested, charged and sentenced for wrong use of the English Language.’’
But Obahiagbon sure made some points on the crisis rocking Rivers State, during the interview.
He says, “As far as I am concerned, I can see the ship of theNigerian state hovering around the political Bermuda Triangle, and if we do not take urgent and responsible steps… My critical history and historiography of the study shows that the war of attritionin Rivers State did not commence with the Obio/Okpor political tendency. However, one of the interviewers, who seemed bewildered by Obahiagbon’s statements, quizzed him on what he meant by “talidomine”, asking, “Talidomine could mean…?” Obahiagbon replied, “I mean it (2015) may be still born.’’
Shortly after watching the video on YouTube, one Fola Durowoju laments, “Please, can someone kindly subtitle this video.’’
A YouTube user, Ovie Simon-Efe, says he wonders how Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, manages to comprehend his words whenever they have cause to interact.
He says, “I’m sure the moderators of the interview were confused to the core. How does Governor Oshiomhole manage to understand Obahiagbon when he speaks?”
One Olayinka Awofodu says, “He’s speaking ‘personalised English.’ Even the YouTube transcript feature is confused.’’
Meanwhile, Some Nigerians say Obahiagbon will not find it difficult to speak in tongues if he decides toventure into church ministry, when he leaves politics.

Asked if the crisis was getting messier because of the 2015 general election, he said, “Oh it is very crystal clear like the biblical ‘teke teke menoyafasin.’ It is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind.”
He added, “If you look at the totalityof the crisis in Rivers State just now, it leaves me with two conclusions that 2015 is inherently laden with a political and democratic ‘talidomine.’ Two, some social scientists like myself have gone to town for donkey’s years, saying that what we have is not democracy but civilian rule.
“But with recent events, I say no. Nigeria is neither witnessing civilian rule nor democracy but what we have at best is a form of government I call ‘kakitomoboplutocracy’ and that is bad for us as a nation.’’

The video clip of the interview granted by the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Patrick Obahiagbon, to Lagos-based Channels Television has generated a debate on social media.
Nigerians who had watched the video on YouTube say they could not comprehend the analysis the former member of the House of Representatives gave during the interview.
According to them, Obahiagbon’s ‘’high sounding grammar’’ is incomprehensible as many sought to know what languages he was mixing up with English.
Besides, many of them who had employed the YouTube’s ‘Transcript’ feature to get an approximate text version of all of the words spoken in the video proved abortive as it could not make head or tail of his analysis.
For instance, when one of the presenters asked about his thought on the happenings in Rivers State, as a Nigerian, Obahiagbon replied, “Let me say as quickly as possible, the political “crinkum crankum”, if you like, the political “higi haga” thathas enveloped the politics of Rivers State for a period of

Both encounters produced this interview in which Oritsejafor bared his concerns on what he described as the treatment of Christians as second class citizens in their own country. He also spoke on Boko Haram, amnesty for the Islamists, their victims, and gay marriage. Excerpts:
You are now in your second term asthe President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). What were the challenges you faced during your first tenure and what is your agenda for the second?
One major challenge was to try to reposition the Church in Nigeria to make sure that it is at par with other religions in this country. This is because what I saw was a situation where Christians were like second class citizens in a country where probably more than half of its citizens are Christians.
