The private meeting took place today at
the premises of the Senate when Mr.
Malami, accompanied by Ita Enang,
President Muhammadu Buhari’s special
assistant on the National Assembly,
arrived to see Senator David Umaru, head
of the Senate committee on the judiciary.
Mr. Malami had gone to assure Senator
Umaru of his willingness to honor an
invitation by the senatorial committee.
A source at the Senate and another in the
AGF’s office told SaharaReporters that Mr.
Saraki requested to see Mr. Malami after
the AGF’s meeting with Senator Umaru.
Our sources said the attorney general
acceded to the meeting with Senator
Saraki, choosing to see Mr. Saraki in the
presence of Ita Enang.
However, just before the meeting started,
Senator Saraki and Mr. Malami agreed
that it should be private.
Our sources disclosed that the embattled
senator, who is facing two trials, one for
alleged falsification in his asset
declarations, the other for alleged forgery
of Senate rules, turned the short meeting
into a begging session. One source who
was briefed on what transpired told our
correspondent that Mr. Saraki pleaded
with the attorney general not be part of
those persecuting him, swearing that he
knew nothing about the alleged forgery of
Senate rules under which he was elected
as Senate President.
One of our sources claimed that Mr.
Malami spoke sympathetically, but
declined to make a commitment to stop
the prosecution of Senators Saraki and
Ekweremadu.
Following the AGF’s non-committal
stance, a senator told SaharaReporters
that Mr. Malami was likely to face hostile
questioning when he is answers the
summons of the Senate Judiciary
committee. Mr. Malami is expected to
appear before the committee tomorrow
at 11 a.m. (Nigerian time).
Our Senate source disclosed that the
members of the committee were divided
over the summons to Mr. Malami. “Some
members feel that the invitation to
Malami to appear is solely intended to
bully him so as to force him to withdraw
charges against Dr. Saraki and Senator
Ekweremadu,” the source said.

Premium Times quoted one of the
Senators as confirming Mr. Melaye’s full
statement to be, “Look this is not
Bourdillon (the Lagos residence of Mrs.
Tinubu’s politician husband, APC National
Leader Ahmed Bola Tinubu). I will beat

happen.”
The source described the event as being
one of those dirty sessions in the Senate,
saying, “There [were] ramblings, uproar
and profanities. It was so sad.”
Our Senate sources told SaharaReporters
Mr. Melaye let Mrs. Tinubu have the full
brunt of his anger, telling her “F… you!”
Apparently then thinking about what he
had just said, he added condescendingly
that he would not actually do that
because it would be like being with a

be with a more robust and beautiful
woman like Stella Oduah,” Mr. Melaye
assured Mrs. Tinubu.
Melaye has over time proved to have a

when Nollywood actress Bisi Ibidapo Obe
accused him of being responsible for her
pregnancy.
On Twitter, Tokunbo accused him of lying

A middle-aged man, yesterday, met his waterloo while attempting to steal recharge cards worth N44,000 from a female vendor at a complex around Bode Thomas area of Lagos State. The suspect was apprehended, beaten up and taken to the police station. According to an eyewitness, Temitope Ajayi: “The suspect, who was well dressed, told the young lady selling recharge cards that he owned an office in the complex and one of the parked Sport Utility Vehicles. “He took all the lady's recharge cards and asked her to sit somewhere in the compound to calculate the total cost, while he informs his Secretary to bring her the money. “After pretending to climb the stairs into the building, the suspect returned and told the young lady that her money is on the way, she should wait for his Secretary.” “Unknown to him, the vendor was watching. The suspect quickly got to the gate, jumped into a tricycle (Keke Napep) but was grabbed by the observant vendor, who pulled him off the Keke and raised the alarm. “He was then given a light beating and has since been handed over to the Bode Thomas Police Unit.” Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said she would get back to us, but had not done so at press time.
