Dikwa said during Shettima’s eight years as governor of Borno state, he worked tirelessly to stop the teaching of Christian Religious Studies in primary and secondary schools.

The Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity In Nigeria has warned Nigerians against voting for the All Progressives Congress over the alleged anti-Christian policies of its vice-presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima when he was Borno State Governor.

Shettima was governor of the Northeast State between 2011 and 2019.


According to Reverend Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, Director General of the group in a statement on Sunday, the APC VP candidate allegedly has strong links to Boko Haram terrorists and is a religious bigot.

Dikwa said during Shettima’s eight years as governor of Borno state, he worked tirelessly to stop the teaching of Christian Religious Studies in primary and secondary schools.

The statement said with "the VP ticket, Shettima has bigger plans against Christianity" beyond his alleged move to stop the teaching of Christian Religious Studies in Borno school.

The statement further read, "Shettima’s Anti-Christian Policies in Borno State from 2011 – 2019 — Apart from the issue of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls abduct released under his watch and the hiding of Boko Haram commandant, Kabiru Sokoto, Governor Kashim Shettima appointed Boko Haram commanders as Mafa Local Government Chairman and Bama Local Government Vice Chairman. It is on record that Nigerian military arrested two of them with full arms and ammunition and brought them to Abuja, after 2 years they were and relocated to unknown locations."

The group alleged that Shettima worked against the people of his state in the following ways:

“Minimum wage, Governor Shettima failed to implement the N18,000 minimum wage in the local government areas that were predominantly Christians when he served as governor of Borno State.

"He implemented the N18,000 minimum wage in all the northern Borno LGAs and central Borno LGAs where there's no indigenous Christian, but only indigenous Muslims; Shuwa-Arab and Kanuri tribes. He refused to implement the minimum wage in the 9 LGAs in southern Borno where the indigenous Christians are in the majority (85%)

“Sankaya (Islamic) Education Board created in Borno State appointed board chairman in the person of Sheikh Khalifa Ahmed Abdull-Fatai. Teachers of Islamic Religion Knowledge, IRK have been recruited into Borno State Government and teachings of IRK in our primary and secondary schools, both northern and southern Borno have been teaching. But no recruitment of Christian Religious Knowledge, CRK teachers in all parts of Borno State and Southern Borno predominantly are Christians, about 85 per cent and the Church sent CRK teachers to primary and secondary schools in Southern Borno but the government refused to pay their salaries. Recently, Borno State Government recruited some Judges, unfortunately all the Christian lawyers that applied were denied.

“Sen. Shettima’s manipulation to reach national limelight — The abduction of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls conniving with the Borko Haram and ISWAP terrorists frustrated the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan by using the terrorist group Boko Haram and ISWAP to push him out of power in 2015. Now the All Progressives Congress (APC) is compensating Kashim Shettima with vice-presidential candidate.

“We warn Nigerians not to vote for the APC's presidential candidate for the sake of unity and progress of the country. The duos were deliberately forced on the APC members to complete the Fulani agenda of the Buhari regime. He believes Nigerians are now partially aware of the Islamic agenda which is too gloving today. Today, most Christian Religious teachers are allowed in southern Borno, which is predominantly Christians. We added that "in the northern part of Nigeria, a Christian traditional ruler dies, they will manipulate, enforce and appoint a Muslim to take over, if the governor is a Muslim.

Governor Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State did (it) in Kajuru LGA. Governor Inuwa Yahaya did same in Biliri, Gombe state and Mallam Musa Bello, FCT Minister equally did the same in Bwari area council and now they’re trying to enforce a Muslim on Egown people in Akwanga, Nasarawa state.

“Appointments—The Muslim leaders have continued to deny building of churches in the northern part of Nigeria. Christians have been denied employment opportunities and appointment as Vice Chancellors in Universities based on religious prejudice.

"Christians are not appointed Rectors of higher institutions, both at the federal and state government institutions. Christians are being denied the opportunity to study medicine, law, mechanical engineering at Northern-based Universities. Abduction of underage Christian girls and forcing them into forced marriages and forcefully converting them to Islam using Sharia court and intimidating the parents of these underage girls are what the Christians in the North pass through.

"The fact that our country, Nigeria is experiencing ethno-religious tension, kidnappings, terrorism, banditry attacks, cannot be ignored," the centre said

“Hidden Agenda: The Centre also lambasted the APC presidential candidate for attempting to cause disharmony amongst the Christian faithful.

According to the Centre, "the invitation of Archbishop Peter Ogunmuyiwa of African Church, Chairman Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria Archbishop John Daniel Praise and vice chairman, Bishop Jonas Katung by the presidential candidate of APC Bola Tinubu is one of the several attempts to ridicule the Church.

"We also learnt of one of the key Christian leaders from the North who receives a Toyota Prado with N10 million from Tinubu running mate, Kashim Shettima. These are the men who are using Church/Christianity for their own personal gain. These Christians have already defiled themselves by working against the body of Christ.

"This attitude of anti-Christians, we dare say that Bola Tinubu and APC have declared Church useless in this country and these fake and so-called Pastors and Bishops using the Church title are working for their own personal gain," they added.

Speaking further, the Centre said "it is very unfortunate that we are hearing about some Church leaders from the north are working for the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of Bola Tinubu and Shettima in secret.

"These Church leaders are supposed to be fighting for the release of Leah Sharibu who is still in ISWAP captivity for over 5 years.

"Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket to rule Nigeria is total war against Christians and still these again-called Pastors and Bishops are supporting it because of love of money.

“Conclusion: Senator Shettima has no social or moral standing to be on presidential ticket or vice. Presidential ticket in this Country. His past has strong link to Boko Haram tribalists and he is a religious bigot.”

FACTS ABOUT PDP AND WIKE
1. PDP as a party was founded and funded in 1998 by great politicians like Alex Ekeueme, Abubakar Rimi, Sunday Awoniyi, Solomon Lar, Atiku Abubakar, Iorchia Ayu, etc. The idea was to have a national party where decisions will be taken by all members, and not a party in the pocket of a single individual.

2. Ayu said in his interview with Arise TV that he will resign if the party ask him to resign (not an individual). The NWC which is the highest decision body of the party passed a vote of confidence on Ayu and asked him to stay.

3. This situation that has a presidential candidate and Chairman of the party from one zone pre-election is not new. Ahmadu Ali from North Central was Chairman when Musa Yar'Adua from North West was the presidential candidate of PDP between 2006-2007.

4. What if Ayu resigns and Atiku fails to win, will he be given back his mandate to complete the constitutional four years?

5. In any case, the PDP State Excos in Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross-River, and Delta have thrown their support to Ayu and passed a vote of confidence on him.

6. The presidential zoning committee was about zoning the presidential ticket to South East with Peter Obi likely to get the ticket, Wike insisted that the zoning should be thrown open, knowing that GEJ got the South-South slot.

7. Atiku had said that if the presidential ticket is zoned to the South East, he won't contest. Wike's ambition did not allow this zoning to work, instead, he used Chris Uba to chase Peter Obi out of PDP.

8. Every member of the PDP sacrificed for the party at one point or the other. Some even died in the process. Others used their personal resources to fund the party.

9. Atiku and Ayu didn't just leave the PDP in 2006. They fought against the third-term agenda of OBJ and they were chased out of the party through the use of state coercion paraphernalia.

10. Wike is overhyped. He only has money gotten from Rivers treasury that he throws around. Unlike Tinubu who was able to install his successor and extend his 'empire' to the whole of South West, Wike is yet to install his successor and he has no control of South-South.

11. Wike is not on talking terms with Governors of Edo state, Obaseki, Delta State, Okowa, Bayelsa, Diri, Akwa Ibom, Udom, and his brashness and hard hardiness chased the Governor of Cross-River, Ebonyi, and Peter Obi out of the party.

12. Wike and his group will not leave the party because he has stooges contesting for Governor of Rivers state and NA election, Fayose, and Jerry Gana's sons are contesting for a seat at the NA. You can't have your candidate contesting on the same day with Atiku in PDP and work against PDP when you have a strong opposition party like APC.

13. Wike wants to foist a Chairman on the PDP that will work against Atiku so that Atiku will lose the 2023 election and leave the PDP for him and his group post-2023. They need a party Chairman that will do their bidding like what Adamu Mu'azu did to GEJ in 2015.

14. Wike is not fighting for the South, he is a bitter loser fighting to destroy the PDP because he did not get the ticket of the party. His frustration after losing the presidential primary has made him confused, as throwing tantrums and dancing like a clown is now his trademark.

15. Wike has taken delight in insulting everybody, from Sule Lamido to Babangida Aliyu, to Sen. Ayu. He was instrumental in the removal of Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif, and Uche Secondus because they refused to be answerable to him alone.

16. Wike has fallen out with all his allies in the state, from Uche Secondus to Austin Opara, to Celestine Omehia, to Farah Dagogo, to Sen. Lee Maeba, etc who are working for Atiku.

17. As Chairman of the party, after primaries, you can hug any aspirant to energize them for the fight ahead. They are all your children. As Ayu hailed Tambuwal as Hero, he would have also hailed Wike as the Defender of Democracy if Wike was also in that room.

18. Wike and his group did not support Senator Adeleke in the Osun gubernatorial election but he won against Tinubu's nephew.

19. Apart from Governor Makinde who is holding a prominent position in the Atiku campaign council, the rest of the so-called Wike group are either not members or floor members.

20. Gov. Makinde is on self-destruct, he is contesting for a second term in Oyo, a traditional APC state and he is joining Wike to play politics that will affect his chances of winning. He has forgotten what OBJ did to AD governors in the South West in 2003.

Disagree with you on the issue that ATIKU will not Win the election simply because of the Rebels Wike's Camp are doing. One thing I would like u to understand is, No matter the Support of South Eastern Governors to Atiku, he will hadly Win those States now because Peter Obi, Governors now are not doing anything to influence the Masses on who to Vote for or not.

Secondly, I so much Believed any true Christian in the region of South West will not Vote for Tinubu Muslim-Muslim ticket simply because Tinubu is from their region, while in the NORTH Non of those Candidates can Win Atiku Abukakar because of the love people there has for me. Remember all those Governor's fighting u are OUTGOING Governors except Makinde whom u stood for to win his Governorship Elections, but I don't really know what was his issues with u to begin to fight u.

Ayu is going nowhere, and if they said they are fighting for the right thing to do, is removing Ayu the right thing?

Let me remind NYESON WIKE'S Team about the PDP Last card. HE Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was the last PRESIDENT PDP produced and he is from South South, then now why would he want to come as PDP Presidential Candidate Again from Same South South? Is that Justice?

This time around in PDP is to produce a PRESIDENT from the NORTH, and if they refused to support you, forget about them and begin your campaign preparations which are fast approaching.
