Please recall that Cynthia Morgan some months back, Admitted she had a crush on the 'AYE' & 'Skelewu' singer; and would kick it with him if he made a move..

Health / 'don't Buy Breast Milk Online, It's Unhealthy' - Researchers Warn by zamemah: 12:44am On Jun 24, 2015
The Queen Mary University of London team claimed the milk, which is sold through specialist websites and social media groups, was unpasteurised and could carry dangerous germs.

They said claims that the milk boosted the immune system were misleading and could be dangerous to cancer patients.

Popularly referred to as liquid gold, it is unclear how much of the product is being traded.
Dr Sarah Steele, from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry speaking with BBC said the market had “shown consistent growth around the world”.
According to the report, 93% of breast milk sold online contains detectable levels of bacteria, as non-sterile equipment is used to express or store the milk posing threats like hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis.

The trade reportedly started to help women who were not producing enough breast milk themselves.
However, it is also bought for its supposed health benefits such as building muscle, by fetishists and even some “foodies”.

Dr Steele particularly expressed worry over the milk being sold to cancer patients owing to the fact that the immune system is not functioning the same as in a healthy adult, thus posing great risk.

Politics / 200 Girls & 93 Women Rescued In Sambisa Forest Are Not The Missing ‘chibok Girls by zamemah: 1:47am On Apr 29, 2015
Girls rescued from Boko Haram terror camps in Sambisa Forest on Tuesday are “not the Chibok girls,” Nigerian Army spokesman Sani Usman said.

However, one official did not rule out that captives from other Boko Haram camps that were raided might include some of the 200 girls abducted in April 2014 from a school in Chibok.

Nigerian troops rescued 200 girls and 93 women Tuesday in the Sambisa Forest in the northeastern part of the country, the Nigerian Armed Forces announced on its official Twitter account. The forest is a stronghold for the militant Boko Haram group and is not far from Chibok.

Military spokesman Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade said the rescued girls and women are still being screened and none has spoken to their families yet.

The 2014 mass abduction from Chibok led to an international social media movement, #BringBackOurGirls, to rescue them. Boko Haram, a militant Islamist group, has been kidnapping females for years and has hundreds in their custody.

The Tokumbere, Sassa and Tlafa terror camps were raided and destroyed, said a source close to the military. The Tokumbere camp is the most notorious, where the training of small children by Boko Haram is said to have occurred, the source said. Boko Haram terrorists were killed in the operation, but the military did not say how many.

In recent weeks, Nigerian troops and vigilantes moved into the Sambisa Forest. Last Wednesday the troops had to retreat because of explosive devices Boko Haram planted in the forest, according to military sources and a vigilante who was with the troops.

On Monday, troops re-entered the forest and on Tuesday afternoon they raided Boko Haram camps and rescued scores of girls and women.

“We stumbled on the girls and may find more,”

Usman said.

Information about the fate of the kidnapped schoolgirls has been spotty and inconsistent, with some school officials giving conflicting figures for the number of girls who were abducted or escaped their captors.

“We have no idea where the Chibok girls are or were,”

CNN correspondent Christian Purefoy said Tuesday.

The name Boko Haram translates to “Western education is sin” in the local Hausa language. The group has said its aim is to impose a stricter enforcement of Sharia law across Nigeria, which is split between a majority Muslim north and a mostly Christian south.

Politics / Shekau Denies Ceasefire, Says Chibok Girls Have Converted To Islam, Married Off by zamemah: 8:11am On Nov 01, 2014
Boko Haram denied that they had agreed to a ceasefire in a new video obtained on Friday by AFP, describing the Nigerian government claims as a lie and apparently ruling out future talks.

The group’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, also claimed the 219 schoolgirls kidnapped from the remote northeast town of Chibok, in Borno state, in April had converted to Islam and been married off.

In addition, Shekau said the Islamists were holding a German national, who was kidnapped in Adamawa state, also northeast Nigeria, in July.

The video comes after a surprise Nigerian military and presidency announcement on October 17 that a deal had been reached with the militants to end hostilities.

A senior presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan also said agreement had been reached to free the schoolgirls, whose abduction sparked global anger and demands for their release.

There was immediate scepticism about both claims because of previous assertions of ceasefires and the identity of the purported Boko Haram envoy at the supposed talks, Danladi Ahmadu.

Violence — and fresh kidnappings — have continued unabated since the announcement, including a triple bombing of a bus station in the northern city of Gombe on Friday that killed at least eight.

Nigeria’s government maintains that talks were ongoing in the Chadian capital, Ndjamena.

But Shekau, speaking in Hausa, dressed in military fatigues and boots with a black turban, and flanked by 15 armed fighters, said: “We have not made ceasefire with anyone…

“We did not negotiate with anyone… It’s a lie. It’s a lie. We will not negotiate. What is our business with negotiation? Allah said we should not.”

He also said he did not know Danladi.

– Kidnapped girls –

There was no indication of when or where the video was shot but it was obtained through the same channels as previous communications from the group.

In it, Shekau mentions the Chibok girls for the first time since a video obtained on May 5, when more than 100 were shown in a rural location dressed in the hijab and reciting verses from the Koran.

Then, the militant leader said many of the girls had converted to Islam but in the latest, he indicated that all of those held had become Muslims.

“Don’t you know the over 200 Chibok schoolgirls have converted to Islam? They have now memorised two chapters of the Koran,” he said.

Shekau previously threatened to sell the girls as slave brides and also suggested that he would be prepared to release them in exchange for Boko Haram prisoners.

In the latest message, he said while laughing: “We have married them off. They are in their marital homes.”

Human Rights Watch said in a report published this week that Boko Haram was holding upwards of 500 women and young girls and that forced marriage was commonplace in the militant camps.

One former hostage said she saw some of the Chibok girls forced to cook and clean for other women and girls who had been chosen for “special treatment because of their beauty”.

– German national –

Shekau’s claim in the video that they were “holding your German hostage” is the first claim of responsibility for the abduction, which happened on July 16.

The German foreign ministry in Berlin said it did not want to comment when contacted by AFP.

Armed gunmen kidnapped the foreigner, who was said to be a teacher at a government technical training centre in Gombi, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the Adamawa state capital Yola.

Suspicion immediately fell on Boko Haram, which has repeatedly attacked schools teaching a so-called Western curriculum, as well as teachers and students.

An offshoot of Boko Haram, Ansaru, has previously claimed the kidnapping of at least eight foreigners in northern Nigeria since 2012 but the group has been largely dormant for more than a year.

The group reportedly broke with Boko Haram to specifically target foreigners instead of Nigerians and executed seven expatriates it seized from Bauchi state in 2013.

In January 2012, Boko Haram kidnapped German engineer Edgar Raupach at a construction site on the outskirts of the northern city of Kano.

He was killed in a military raid on a Boko Haram hideout on the outskirts of the city four months later.

Kidnappings for ransom by criminal gangs are common in the oil-producing south. On October 24, armed men shot dead one German national and kidnapped another in Ogun state, southwest Nigeria.

Both were working for the construction firm Julius Berger. The hostage was later released, the company said on Thursday.

Travel / Here Are The World’s Best & Worst Airports 2014 by zamemah: 2:11am On Oct 23, 2014
According to a recent survey released at the weekend by The Guide to Sleeping in Airports, a travel website that produces an annual survey to identify the world’s worst and best aviation terminals, the Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, Pakistan tops the list of world worst airports.

Airports were rated based on overall experience as determined by travelers and facilities were judged in four major categories: comfort, conveniences, cleanliness and customer service.

From dirty floors and bathrooms to the regular request for bribes, travelers were unimpressed with the airports that made it onto this year’s Worst Airports in Africa list.

Other complaints revolved around lack of air conditioning, general navigational chaos, limited yet expensive restaurant options and questionably-effective security processes at these airports.

Other complaints revolved around a lack of air conditioning in sweltering climates, general navigational chaos, limited yet expensive restaurant options and questionably-effective security processes.

However, there were no surprises when it came to naming the best airport, with Singapore’s Changi International taking the title it’s held every year since the survey began 18 years ago. Its success is credited to the spa, pool, gym, four-story slide and movie theaters that make the airport a destination in itself.

Offering almost as many cool perks as its Singapore counterpart, South Korean’s Seoul Incheon International was named second best.

Amsterdam Schiphol and Hong Kong International Airport (last year’s third and fourth best airports) dropped out from the top five to ninth and seventh spots, respectively.

Health / The Untold Truth Of How Ebola Entered Nigeria by zamemah: 2:04am On Oct 23, 2014
Now that we got the ‘all clear’ and we have been able to reasonably restrain the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria, we can take a more dispassionate look at the issue, its genesis and some ramifications.

But first, a huge credit must go to the Lagos State government. In particular, the Governor, Babatunde Fashola, his Health Commissioner, Dr Jide Idris, and his Special Adviser on Health, Dr Yewande Adeshina deserve high praise indeed. Similarly, President Goodluck Jonathan and the Health Minister, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu deserve commendation for their co-ordinating role, robust leadership and tireless work in containing the Ebola spread.

Special praise must go to Dr Adadevoh and her team at First Consultant Hospital. I dread to imagine what would have happened in Lagos, and indeed Nigeria in entirety, had the index case not been taken to that hospital and placed under the care of Dr Adadevoh. Her foresight and effective management of that case probably saved our collective bacon.

We cannot leave out the World Health Organisation, WHO, and other foreign health experts who were on the ground and in the forefront providing us with support. However, when you think that there are many more WHO personnel and foreign health workers in Ebola-stricken countries such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and these countries have not managed to contain Ebola and in fact, the disease is on the increase in those places, you begin to appreciate the more, the effectiveness of Nigeria’s local strategy and response.

Nigeria tackled Ebola disease head-on and won. It was text-book epidemiology triumph. In doing this, we probably helped prevent greater spread of the disease to other parts of the continent.

So kudos to all involved. They have all done very well. And you know you’ve done good when even America sends its personnel to study how you’ve done it!

But how did Ebola get to Nigeria?

First, we can confirm authoritatively now that Mr Patrick Sawyer did come to Nigeria knowing full well he had contacted the Ebola disease. He came here looking for a cure. His widow in New York attested to that much. Mr Sawyer wasn’t alone. Another diplomat sneaked through the border and sought cure for the same disease in Port Harcourt.

Furthermore, there were news reports of a few Ebola-stricken West African nationals who tried to cross into Nigeria through the Niger and through some South-South borders. They were all turned back. Also, three travellers suspected to be Ebola-infected were apprehended after they crossed into Ogun State through the Imeko-Afon border.

Why did all these people come, and wanted to get into Nigeria? They were practically invited to come by the now former Minister for Information, Labaran Maku.

On Wednesday April 2, 2014, Jonathan was away in Brussels. In his place, Vice President Sambo chaired the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. Immediately after this meeting, while briefing journalists on its outcome, Maku reportedly declared to the world that Nigeria has Ebola virus disease vaccines.

Specifically, Maku said: “Nigeria is prepared right now to curtail any outbreak particularly given reports that few counties on the West Coast like Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have reported cases of Ebola fever and given our proximity to these, Nigeria is ready. The ministry has taken every precaution, including getting vaccines and medicines to ensure that should there be any incidence in Nigeria, everything would be dealt with precision.”

The man wasn’t done. He added: “So far, there is nothing like Ebola fever in Nigeria, and Council was reassured that every step has been taken to ready our country just in case infected persons come into the country from our neighbouring countries.”

This was the same briefing where the re-basing of our economy was mentioned for the first time and perhaps that over-shadowed the titbit about us having Ebola vaccines. So while most Nigerians heard ‘Rebasing,’ our Ebola-stricken neighbours heard ‘Vaccines.’

I suppose Mr Maku could be reasonably excused on the basis that he was perhaps just passing on information he received from the Health Ministry. However, he could have checked and confirmed his facts before making categorical statements. Giving Nigeria’s pre-eminence in the continent, why would other Africans not take Maku’s statement seriously?

Even as late as July 25th, few days after Sawyer escaped into Nigeria, the Project Director of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, one Professor Abdulsalam Nasidi, chipped-in: “…We have mobilised rapid response teams in addition to developing a detailed response plan that includes a comprehensive health education, health promotion to sensitise Nigerians, enhanced surveillance to detect and treat the disease.”

What’s a desperate African citizen to do on the back of such reassuring statements? Same thing is happening to America now. A few people with Ebola have flown into that country since the USA was able to successfully cure a couple of people with the Ebola virus.

It is painful that some people have had to lose their lives as a result of Sawyer’s and other’s actions, but we must put things in their proper perspective. People in offices of high responsibility must be more discerning and more sensitive when it comes to matters of life and death. There are times to grandstand and there are other times to be serious.

So when Jonathan described Patrick Sawyer as “crazy” and a “mad man,” perhaps, he ought to have been looking elsewhere.

But, thank heavens we pulled through and we have excelled – albeit at a price. We only need now to worry about people coming home for Christmas from Ebola-infested countries.

However, what our experience with the successful containment of the Ebola disease has shown is that Nigeria has the material and human resources to be a truly great nation if only we have the will, the commitment, and the right leadership. We can even straighten out our healthcare sector such that the president won’t have to jet into Germany so much for his healthcare needs.

‘I have been silent because Nigerians have been so adamant to learn. I am tired of representing them. I continue to make songs that give the masses hope thereby denying myself of some privileges but I don’t get motivated by them. I know what I go through to stand with them. I am unhappy with the Nigerian masses.’’‘‘They should try to make the politicians accountable. I want them to continually request for songs that will make them see the need for change. Celebrities / “teebillz Told Me He Would Marry Me The First Time We Met” – Tiwa Savage Reveals by zamemah: 12:03am On Jul 04, 2014
Tiwa Savage and her manager/hubby, Tunji Tee Billz Balogun who walked the aisle, April 2014 in Dubai are certainly one of the most adorable celebrity couple in the industry….

The ‘wanted’ singer during a recent interview with City People Magazine revealed that after meeting her then future husband at a Timaya’s concert in Los Angeles, US, he told her he would marry her.

How they met: I met Tee Billz in Los Angeles, at Timaya’s concert actually and I was at that time looking for a manager and he didn’t listen to my cd unfortunately. So when I saw him, I was a bit angry , I was like I dropped my songs a few weeks ago and am the next big thing and you are missing out and he was like wow calm down ,who are you? And then funny enough the next thing he said was, I am going to marry you.

On how he finally proposed years later

We had actually come back from Dubai a few days earlier and spent a week there.

I actually thought he was going to propose to me there. I was hoping he would propose while we were in Dubai, so day 1, day 2 day 3 all the way to the 7th day and nothing happened.
I was a bit disappointed and was worried like ”Oh My God, is he ever going to propose?” But a few days later, on my birthday, he said to me he thinks we should go out with some friends so I was like hell no, I don’t want to go anywhere, I want to be at home, I want to reflect on my life (laughs). So my friend Elohor called me and said every body is waiting for you, just come out so I finally did then it happened. He went on his knees and I didn’t even wait to hear what he was saying because every body was screaming so much. I don’t even know if he actually asked me to marry him but I just screamed yes (laughs) I actually want to thank him specially because he has been a blessing to me.

Health / 8 Things You Need To Know If You Have Multiple Sex Partners by zamemah: 11:56pm On Jul 03, 2014
There are many reasons why people have a lot of sexual partners and with the hook up culture that seems to be a popular trend these days, it is really not surprising that people are having multiple sex partners at the same time. As fun and as thrilling as it can be to have multiple sex partners, it is also dangerous.

If you are having sex with a few different partners, here are some things you need to know:

1. Practice safe sex. Always use a condom.

2. If you are having sex with a few different partners, only one of them needs to be infected with an STD for it to be passed between everyone. People tend to have sex with each other without asking about each other’s backgrounds, especially flings, but remember you cannot tell if someone has an infection just by looking at them or at their behaviour so practice safe sex.

3. You could get pregnant and not know who the father is. Also, even if you do know, it does not mean that he will want to have anything to do with it.

4. If you see signs of genital warts, including blisters, sores, or itching, avoid sexual activity and get checked.

5. Avoid or reduce your alcohol intake. Drinking alcohol reduces your self consciousness and when you are incapacitated anyone can then take advantage of you and you will have no way of knowing their sexual history or health status. You may not even know that you were raped if you black out completely. If you are going to drink, make sure you are out with friends who you trust so they can take care and protect you if you do get drunk.

6. Limit the amount of sexual partners you have.

7. Know what STDs are — what they are, how they spread and how to get rid of an STD, just in case you catch one.

8. Get yourself tested frequently if you are at high risk. Even if you only have one sexual partner, get tested. Anyone who is sexually active is at risk, so in order to protect yourself, get tested.

Now, remember that abstinence is a valid choice. You should not let anyone make you feel pressured into having sex if you are not comfortable with it. But if you do decide to have sex, use condoms and limit the number of sexual partners you have.
