Troops Neutralises Another Ambush by Boko Haram Terrorist in Dikwa – Army The Nigerian Army says its troops have overcome another ambush by the Boko Haram terrorist in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno. The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja. Iliyasu said that the encounter took place on Monday when troops of 153 Task Force Battalion deployed at New Marte embarked on fighting patrol to Dikwa to hunt and destroy remnants of the insurgents. Jumia online retailer, suspends e-commerce business in Cameroon Online retailer Jumia Technologies, often called “the Amazon of Africa”, said it had suspended its e-commerce platform activities in Cameroon because it was not suitable for the country. Its shares have tumbled from its Wall Street initial public offering price of $14.50 dollars in April, hitting a record low of $5.10 dollars on Monday after third-quarter results missed revenue estimates for the second time in three quarters. “Based on our review, we came to the conclusion that our transaction portal as it is run today is not suitable to the current context in Cameroon,” the company said in a statement on Monday. The company added that its e-commerce operations there had been suspended. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kogi West senatorial rerun election inconclusive. According to the returning officer, Professor Olayinde Lawal, the margin between the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Smart Adeyemi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dino Melaye is 20,570. He announced that Mr Adeyemi polled a total of 80,118 votes, while Senator Melaye got 59,548 votes from the seven Local Government Areas in the senatorial district. Prof Lawal explained that the total margin between both candidates is lower than the 43,127 registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone where elections were canceled. The returning officer, who declared the election inconclusive said, he is constrained by law to declare a winner because of the lead margin between the leading candidates. He added that INEC will announce a new date for the conduct of a supplementary election in the 53 polling units before a winner can be returned. Nigerian police free woman locked up by brother for 2 year A team of policemen has rescued a woman identified as Hassana Sale from a dark room where her biological brother have been locking her since about two years ago. The team worked alongside Arida Relief Foundation, an NGO. The brother allegedly carried out the act to prevent the sister from having access to her estranged husband.The mother of four was found in a “terrible state” locked up in the room by the NGO and police on Monday in Rigasa area of Kaduna, the founder of the NGO, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, said. Ms Salisu said the woman was deprived of her freedom by her elder brother, who was identified as Lawal Sale over her intention to go back to her matrimonial home. May Remove Buhari, As Odili, Other ‘PDP Justices’, Set To Hear Atiku’s Appeal A Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the House of Representatives, have said that Mary Odili, Slyvester Ngwuta, Bode Rhodes-Vivour, and three other Senior Justices of the Supreme Court must be appointed to hear the appeal of Atiku Abubakar.
