The federal government has called for more vigilance on the possible resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic as some states announce schools resumption.

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 648 suspected beggars in Kano metropolis over an alleged violation of street begging law.

The beggars were arrested around various Kano streets from February till date.

The Public Relations’ Officer (PRO) of the board, Malam Lawan Ibrahim, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday.

Ibrahim said that the suspects were arrested at the Bata Area Murtala Muhmamed way, Nasarawa Hospital, Railway Station and Yahuza Suya junction in the city.

He said those arrested are 416 female and 232 Male.

With the increase in other economic activities and the advancement of science and technology, agriculture can release more labour force for the development of the economy. Agricultural development can increase total tax revenue as well as having importance towards intersectoral trade. The savings generated from capital formation can be used for further development purposes; increased rural income may generate additional demand for industrial products. The needs for agricultural sector could influence the need for additional infrastructures indispensable for economic development.

COVID-19: Kano govt to emback on prudent spending, slash 2020 budget by 30% as IGR decline

Kano State government says it will adjust its 2020 budget by 30 percent decrease to ensure accomplishment of ongoing projects.

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, made this known during an interactive session with newsmen.

The decision followed due to the decline in Internally Generated Revenu (IGR).

According to the governor, the declined necessitated the need on the government to be prudent on its expenditure in order to complete meaningful projects before the end of his second tenure.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of financial challenges. We are hopeful of completing our projects before the end of our tenure. The decline of IGR has made us become prudent on our expenditure.

“We have to be smart in the way we spend money because we want to complete our projects, that is why we are soon taking our 2020 budget to the House of Assembly for review.

“We are working to review the budget by 30% cut because we want to achieve our aim of project completion,” he said.

Kano State Government in its quest to fight Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has requested a support of N15b from the Federal Government.

The application was revealed by Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Wednesday on a Channels Television program, Politics Today.

The governor maintained that federal government has not yet support his state with a dime to fight the deadly virus.

According to him, the N15bn would be use in paying the voluntary health personnel who’re employed by the state to support health workers, to provide personal protective equipment and also to establish other testing centers.

The governor said, ‘’You can understand that Kano is the most populated in the country hence the only testing centre at AKTH is not enough for us, ‘’

The European Union through its delegation led by Amb Ketil Karlsen donated a sum of 50 million Euros to Nigeria in fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandamic.

Kano State Road Traffic Agency has announced that tricyclers in the state can now board two passengers at thesame time, this is against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state.

The Development was announced by the chairman of Kano State Road Traffic Agency, Baffa Dan’Agundi on Tuesday in a statement issued to newsmen.

The Statement said tricyclers are now allowed to carry to passengers and each passenger is expected to wear a face mask.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has established Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing laboratory in Kano State.

The statement government announced that henceforth all suspected COVID-19 cases of COVID-19 will be tested in the state.

The Chairman of the Task Force, Who’s The State Deputy Governor Of Kano State, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna made this known when he inspected the centre at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH.

This inspection was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hassan Musa Fagge on Thursday and sent to Newsmen.

The deputy governor, in the statement, said, “We are on a fact-finding mission, from what we have seen in the laboratory…installation of equipment is complete and test running has been made .’’
