Atiku likes to boast about his political prowess but he has never won an election since he got into politics in 1992 after retiring as a civil servant in 1988.
Lost the SDP primaries to MKO Abiola and has kept on losing.

The only election he won was the Adamawa state governorship in 1999 before he dropped that and became VP to Obasanjo.

The worst miscalculation of his political career which cost him the presidency was leaving the PDP, and backing Buhari for president in 2015.

What was he thinking? that Buhari would die and he would somehow become president?

Or that Buhari would do just one term and he would resume from where he stopped?

Only if greed and impatience hadn't led him to cause an implosion in the PDP, GEJ would have completed his second term and handed over to him. There is no way a GEJ handover to Atiku in 2019 wouldn't have worked.
