I was waiting for the time when this will be noticed by someone. What you are noticing is good balance of player and tactical management by Maresca.

Maresca had to admit that Sanchez's passing game contributed to a lot of dropped points last season. Seeing as he must have been told we won't be getting a new goalie, he modified our tactical build-up play from short passes only to the nearest defenders, to a mixture of short, and long passes to find advancing forward players - Neto, Gusto, Garnacho.

He started this at the CWC with the 3-6-1 formation, and he's not dropped it since then. You see how much of a weapon this was against PSG - a vulnerable opposition.

With this move he's found a solution to improve Sanchez's confidence, and created a variance in our tactical play, allowing Sanchez to kick-start counter attacks. Matter of fact, he's managed to show us that Sanchez is a fantastic long pass goalie.
