E-DON Holds Capacity-Building for Staff of National Mathematical Centre, Abuja

The Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) has conducted a one-day capacity-building for staff of the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja. The training was held yesterday at the Centre as part of efforts to strengthen technology-driven teaching and learning.

The E-DON team was led by its Founder, Dr Idon Akogun. The training focused on the practical use of the E-DON Sim Pro 3D Interactive Board and explored how modern technology can be effectively imbibed in education and transmitted electronically to enhance learning outcomes.

Participants were taken through hands-on sessions demonstrating how the 3D simulation technology can simplify complex and abstract concepts, particularly in science-based disciplines, by translating them into real-life visual experiences.

In an appreciation message, the Acting Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Mathematical Centre, Professor Benjamin O. Oyelami, thanked the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) team on behalf of the Centre, stating:
“On behalf of the National Mathematical Centre, I sincerely appreciate the E-DON team for this timely and impactful capacity-building programme. The programmes of E-DON are clearly in line with the core mandate of the Centre, particularly in the areas of training and capacity development in mathematical sciences such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education. The E-DON 3D simulation technology has the capacity to translate abstract scientific concepts into practical reality. This innovation has great potential to enhance effective curriculum implementation and significantly improve teaching and learning across related disciplines.”
Speaking on behalf of the Electronic Education Initiative (E‑DON) after the training, Dr Idon Akogun said:
“The National Mathematical Centre is a large and important organization, especially when its structure is compared with other tertiary institutions we have trained in the past. Our ability to provide effective digital training on Education 3-D Simulation for the Centre is a testament to our capacity and capabilities within the sector as a strategic partner.
As we partner with the NMC, we anticipate that this collaboration will open up additional partnership opportunities across both the higher and basic education sectors, as well as with supporting agencies, as we work to enhance the expertise required by the NMC.
The Mathematical Centre exercises significant influence over mathematics education at the national level, and for us, working with the Centre is a valuable opportunity to support curriculum implementation and to be part of the solution in childhood education development, which would likely enjoy wide adoption.
E-DON continues to be an international project aimed at encouraging classroom teaching and learning through the maximization of technology development and digital learning.”
The training underscores the growing importance of innovative educational technologies in advancing science and mathematics education in Nigeria.
The training is part of sponsored National Intervention by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) and also approved by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).

NAPS Leadership Undertakes Assessment Tour of EDON Project in Colleges of Education

The leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has embarked on an assessment and familiarization tour of selected Colleges of Education in Nigeria where the Electronic Education Initiative (EDON) Project is currently being implemented.

The tour, led by the National President of NAPS, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan was aimed at critically analysing the level of implementation of the EDON Project and evaluating its impact on teaching and learning. It also sought to explore practical pathways for integrating the initiative into Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Technology across Nigeria.

During the visits, the NAPS delegation observed the transformative role of the Electronic Education Initiative (EDON) Project under the leadership of Dr Idon Akogun in strengthening technological integration, enhancing practical-based learning, and equipping students with modern educational tools. The leadership noted that the initiative represents a forward-thinking model that aligns with the technical, skills-based, and innovation-driven mandate of Polytechnic education in the country.

Speaking on the significance of the tour, Comrade Oghayan emphasized that the assessment forms part of NAPS’ broader commitment to advocating for modern, technology-driven education that prepares students for entrepreneurship, innovation, and national development.

He further assured that NAPS will continue to engage relevant stakeholders and policymakers to ensure that similar digital education advancements are domesticated within Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Technology nationwide.

The NAPS leadership also disclosed plans to convene a World Press Conference in the coming days to formally brief students across the Polytechnic sector on the findings of the tour and to outline the next steps toward the possible adoption of the EDON model within their institutions.

Career Service Center Adamawa State College of Education Hong Holds AI Capacity Building Workshop

The Career Service Center (CSC) of Adamawa State College of Education Hong has organized a one-day capacity building workshop for staff and students, aimed at enhancing teaching and learning through modern technology. The training, held today Thursday, 19th February 2026, was conducted in collaboration with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

The workshop was formally declared open by the Provost of the College, Prof. Benson Yusuf Baha, who was represented by the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. John Zabiri. In his remarks, the Provost underscored the importance of capacity building programmes in equipping staff and students with relevant skills needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving academic environment.

In her opening address, the Director of the Career Service Center, Dr. Lydia Adamu, commended staff and students for their turnout despite the short notice. She encouraged participants to pay close attention and fully benefit from the training, noting that the theme, “The Use of AI for Effective Learning,” is a contemporary and highly relevant issue. She emphasized that the College should remain ahead in this area, particularly as the Provost is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Adamu expressed appreciation to TETFund and the College Management for sponsoring the workshop and prayed for the sustenance of similar capacity building initiatives to ensure continuous knowledge update and global competitiveness.

Earlier, a staff member of the Center, Dr. Galaya Tirah, presented highlights on the Career Service Center and its roles in the contemporary world, especially in guiding students to make informed and wise academic and career decisions.

The main presentation was delivered by the facilitator, Malam Abdullahi Yegmi from Flexisaf Edusoft Limited. He spoke extensively on the use of artificial intelligence for effective learning and engaged participants in practical demonstrations on how AI tools can be applied by lecturers and students to enhance teaching, learning, and academic productivity.

The workshop featured an interactive question-and-answer session, where participants sought clarifications and shared perspectives on the practical use of AI in education. The training was widely described as timely and impactful, reinforcing the College’s commitment to innovation and capacity development.

SUG Federal University of Education Kontagora Commends E-DON, Calls for Expanded Partnership

The Students Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora, has commended the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) for its recent training of staff of the University.

In a statement signed by the SUG President, Comrade Senator Aliyu Hassan, the Union noted that at a time when the Nigerian education sector is being encouraged to embrace technology in curriculum implementation and electronic content delivery, E-DON has continued to bridge existing gaps through its innovative educational programmes.

He observed that the E-DON training conducted at the institution, which focused on the use of interactive 3D learning boards and simulation-based teaching tools, aligns perfectly with TETFund’s commitment to promoting technology-driven education and strengthening the digital competence of both staff and students.

According to him, the initiative represents a practical step towards modernizing teaching and learning processes, while equipping educators with hands-on skills required to meet global educational standards.

Comrade Aliyu Hassan further stated that, having observed the impact and quality of E-DON programmes, there is a strong need for broader collaboration between E-DON and relevant educational authorities. Such partnerships, he noted, would significantly enhance Nigeria’s capacity to compete favourably with its global counterparts in the area of technology-enhanced education.

The SUG reaffirmed its support for initiatives that promote innovation, capacity building, and the overall advancement of education in Nigeria.

TRAINING WORKSHOP ON EDON TOOK PLACE IN THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION KONTAGORA

A one-day training workshop on the Electronic Digital On-Line Network (EDON) was organized for members of the Senate, ICT staff, and the leadership of the Students' Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Education, Kontagora (FUEK). The workshop was held as part of TETFund's 2025 Zonal Intervention and it focused on the Training and Deployment of EDON Sim Pro and QR Interactive Board.The training took place on Wednesday, January 29, 2026, at the Council Chamber, Federal University of Education, Kontagora.

The theme of the Workshop was: Training and Deployment of EDON Sim Pro and QR Interactive Board as Part of the TETFund 2025 Zonal Intervention.

The workshop was organized with the following objectives, namely to:

provide a practical walkthrough of EDON SIM Pro Software;

demonstrate the fictionality and educational value of QR interactive Board;

equip staff and students with the operational knowledge needed to integrate the tools into the institution's academic delivery.

While declaring the training workshop open, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor ( Admin), Professor Aminu Malam Yakubu Umar, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, noted with delight the importance of the training workshop in enhancing teaching and learning in the University. He remarked that, with modern technology in place, it would enhance digital literacy and promote the adoption of modern educational technologies within the University. He, therefore, charged participants to take advantage of the training workshop to impact the students.

The facilitator, Mr Clement Okafor, in his presentation, introduced to the participants EDON components and their relevance in enhancing digital communication, learning, and administrative processes within the University system. He also provided hands-on training on EDON Sim Pro, highlighting its features, operational requirements, and practical applications.

At the end of the technical session, there were questions and answers. Staff and students were also given the opportunity to demonstrate what they learned.

The one day training workshop was not only interesting but was also educative and enlightening.

The exercise followed a communication from the state government in which His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, directed that monthly sanitation be observed across the state on the last Saturday of every month. However, after due deliberation, the College Management resolved to observe the exercise on the last Wednesday of every month as a general sanitation day within the institution.

The sanitation exercise took place between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., during which lectures were suspended to allow full participation by staff and students. Activities were carried out across various departments and units of the College under the supervision of Heads of Departments and Unit Heads.

Key activities undertaken during the exercise included tree planting, cleaning of offices and lecture halls, clearing of surroundings within the campus, and digging of drainage trenches to curb erosion.

The management of the Adamawa State College of Education, Hong has announced the appointment of Mr. Zibite Kurwizi Welye a seasoned communication strategist as the new Head of Information Unit of the institution, a development that has been widely welcomed by staff, students, and stakeholders of the college.

Prof Manpaa Aliyu Musa have send condolences greetings to Dr Boss Mustapha over the lost of his sister Charity.
Mrs Charity Mustapha, sister of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Nigeria died on Tuesday after a protracted illness.
Prof Manpaa who described her dead as irreplaceable lost said he was shocked when he received the sad news. He said she’ll be remembered for all the great things she was, noting that the best people leave us too soon.
He advised the elder statesman to acknowledge the loss and regard it as part of a divine plan.
He prays to God to comfort the family, friends, and relatives of the departed.

Writing is an art, I handle with ease since the day I became lettered. At least in English language. The pen is so sweet a weapon to toy with especially when the ink is linked to a cerebral prowess that is artistically oiled. I have never for once thought that I can be this shut down and out - loose the power to write. Loose the capacity to reason. Loose the moisture of my ink and most importantly loose the lubricant of my brain. It is indeed a shock that drains the marrow of my very existence. It chased away my courage and incapacitated my reason. Wednesday, 16, wasn’t a dark one, but black enough to disarm my wit.

I have seen eulogies. I have read tributes. I have heard the kind of praises that were rained on Thomas Godwin Zamfara , since his exit. An exit whose route symbolizes the worst of what a human being can do to a fellow human. As simple as i could handle the pen to write my own piece of tribute, I was confronted by this reality that sometimes what looks simple can be difficult. The courage to say something kept failing me. How can I wrap my mind around the fact that Godwin Thomas Zamfara is no more? Where do I start from? Why should any sane human being contemplate harming a harmless entity like Zamfara? Why kill a soul so pure and peaceful? The answers aren’t for us to provide. It is for his murderers whose cowardice is humanly reductive. Soon, very soon they would be fetched out. The only sure thing for now is the fact that wherever they are, they are brooding in the knowledge that the person they sought to have silenced is in death louder and more heroic that them. Champions don’t die quietly. They die leaving the world standing. Zamfara is a champion.

I met Thomas Godwin Zamfara, in 2003. We were both pioneers at the Adamawa State University Mubi. He was a student. I was a lecturer. We were age-grades, coming from Hong Local Government. Our heights were similar, making alot of people coming across the both of us asking whether we were biologically related. The answer we have always provided has been to the affirmative. After all, aren’t we the progenies of the famous Huba ancestral stock?

Zamfara, wasn’t just a brother. Like most of the pioneer students of ADSU, he was a student and a mentee. We built a close-knit community in Mubi that transcended the bounds of scholarship to social bonding that went beyond the University. As lecturers, most of us were young and easily accessible. This bonding provided our students the needed confidence and audacity to standout out anywhere. ADSU students, especially the pioneer ones, are mostly bold and confident. Even I, couldnt understand the import of that training untill i started meeting some of them outside the University. They mostly made me proud anywhere i meet them. Zamfara was stoic and spartan. Hatched in this furnace at a time where there was a very thin line between students and lecturers, he went through a confidence-building trainning in an environment that promoted a culture of courage, self-identity and resistence against oppression and intimidation.

Years later, he was to graduate and i went on to pursue other things. When i was appointed the Director of Policy and Research for the 2019 PDP Presidential Campaign Council, my operations was basically in Abuja, it was Zamfara who kept on calling me and insisting that i must link what i was doing with the grassroot. It was him that told Inuwa Waaganda the Chairman of PDP (now the LG Council Chairman ) in Hong, about my exploits and the need for us to link up and fortify the position of PDP in Hong Local Government. He made Waaganda to call me. We didnt only finally spoke but met. As the Organizing Secretary of the party, he was from time to time handy with what it took to support the party at the Local level, and i was equally almost always available with the support. What he ever wanted was for PDP to succeed at every level. From the Local Government to the State and the National levels.

He was a loyal party man with a fanatic commitment to winning election. If there is anything anybody can accuse Zamfara of, it must be that he smiles alot and his PDP signture at all times is never erasing.

Farewell Zamfara. Now that i finally found the courage to write, i must tender my apology that i wasn’t there to give that last respect you deserved. As usual, you know your teacher. Duty has denied me the chance to attend your burial. I truly regret this. Your killers must be found and cheapened. This is more than a promise. It is a commitment. Kawa Zama! Akh nd ndinyi wa.

Prof Manpaa Aliyu extend his deepest sympathies to the family of late Alhaji Shaibu Yerima Tawa who passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 after a protracted illness at Hong local government area of Adamawa State.

Adamawa: Emnamu foundation wages war against climate change, plants 100k trees
The foremost humanitarian organization, Emnamu Foundation has embarked on an aggressive tree planting Campaign in order to mitigate the negative portents of climate change in Adamawa state.

The renewed move themed “ACTION AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE” will also sensitize the general public on the need to adopt environment friendly practices which will be a win win for man and the environment.
The foundation through its numerous volunteer groups, came out in their huge numbers on Friday to mark this epoch making event.

The Founder, Dr. Emmanuel N Musa has earlier on the 30th of June, 2024 flagged off the Campaign to commemorate the Completion of five year tenure of Bishop Dami Mamza, as the Chairman, Christian Association Of Nigeria ( CAN) Adamawa State Chapter.

In continuation, the Members of the foundation replicated the exercise across the State. Earlier today, the train hit the trio of Permanent site Federal Medical Centre, Hong, Grain dealers market, Hong and Government Secondary school, Hong respectively.

The national Coordinator of the Foundation, Comrade Kukuya Godwin in his remarks reiterated the need for pragmatic approach toward mitigating the menace of climate Change, which he says, has devastating effects on the welfare of the people.

He used the occasion to reawaken the consciousness of the teeming volunteers to take this drive more seriously and not to take it as a mere academic exercise, which he emphasised, it is much more than that.

He further called on all the relevant stakeholders to join hands in the drive, for the sake of posterity.

Other places where the exercise took place include Numan, Guyuk, Jada, Gerei, Gombi among others.

Areas visited are Guyuk Local Government Secretariat, Nigerian Correctional Service facility Guyuk, Central Primary School Guyuk, Cottage Hospital Guyuk and Guyuk Maternity among others.
The Foundation Team led by the branch Coordinator Assim Kitai Boki spoke on the impact of climate change and importance of tree planting in the society.
Heads of the various institutions visited thanked Emnamu Foundation for the good initiative and prayed for the President Dr Emmanuel N Musa.

The August National Hunger Protest And The New Norm of Waving Russia’s National Flag

It is no longer a news that on the 1st of August 2024 the Nigerian state has witnessed one of the most frightening mob tagged end Bad governance.
This protest that occurred in several cities across the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory Abuja is organised by coalition of civil society organisations and other international support groups across the globe.

Although the protest is in response to age long neglect of the citizenry by those entrusted with the position of authority, most especially the bizarre way and manner in which public officials and their cronies have perpetually abused the common wealth for their comfort and that of their families and friends at the expense of the conventional practice of providing common good from the common wealth based on common humanity or to borrow from the utilitarian’s ensuring greatest happiness to the greatest number of greatest majority .

The most immediate trigger of the protest however is the negative multiplier effects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubus implementation of the Bretton woods Institutions, policy reform i.e. the neo structural Adjustment programmes.
Of particular interest is the withdrawal of government subsidy on premium motor spirits popularly known in Nigerian parlance as fuel subsidy on the day of his inauguration as president of the federal republic of Nigeria on the 29th May 2023.
This was followed by the withdrawal of subsidy on electricity and unification of forex market. These major policy decisions by the APC led National Government have undermined the energy security derive which is the popular aspiration of every country and region globally.
By energy security we mean the association between national security and the availability of natural resources for energy consumption. i.e. the capacity of a sovereign state like Nigeria to guarantee sufficient, uninterrupted and affordable manner for the entire population. energy security has four 4 A + availability, accessibility, acceptability and affordability.

The cumulative negative consequences of this unpopular decision by the federal government has triggered inflation, exchange rate volatility with corresponding backlash on poverty, hunger, unemployment and inequality in wealth distribution to an unacceptable level.
It is our constant belief that for every government anywhere to be successful it most ask itself certain questions such as what is happening to poverty in the land ?, what is happening to hunger?, what is happening to unemployment among the youths ? and above all what is happening to the disproportionate distribution of vital societal resource and values among its citizenry? These questions are not mere academic rhetoric but a guide to every responsible government in designing its road maps and programmes for sustainable development.

Although the above issues raised are key, but the motivation to this piece is the inundated calls, I have received from many quarters questioning the import of the Russian national flag that has suddenly taken over the centre stage of the protest most especially in the core northern states of Nigeria.
In a simplified word the use of Russian flag was to attract international sympathy to the protesters.
But again, why Russia? In answering this question, we need to digress and dive deep into history.

First and foremost, between 1967 and 1970 Nigeria fought 30 months of needless, avoidable, senseless yet the most devastating civil that sent many young Nigerians with bright future aspiration into untimely grave. The civil war was fought between the federal government led by General Yakubu Gowon a Christian northerner and the agitators for the Republic of Biafra led by Col. Odumegu Chukwu Emeka Ojukwu from the south east Nigeria. During this war while most of the world supers supported the Biafran agitators the then Soviet Union today Russia is the major supporter of the Federal government of Nigeria . This has significant bounded Russia with northern Nigeria.

Secondly, in the renewed agitation for the republic of Biafra the Biafran’s always flaunt Israeli flag and there is no doubt that both UK and US are die/hard Israeli ally and thus the north that is predominantly Muslims feel insecure in the hand of UK and US should the protest escalates to full blown violence and collapse of the central government and eventual state collapse .

Thirdly is the ongoing violence in the middle east with the average northern Muslims sympathising with the state of Palestine where as both UK and US support the Zionist regime in Israel.

Lastly, the north has many things in common with the Republic of Niger and would want Russia to support Military intervention akin to what happened in Niger, Mali and Burkinafaso.

Professor Manpaa Aliyu Musa have today Monday mourned the passing away of the former Council Chairman Hong LG Hon James Pukuma.
Hon Pukuma who served as Chairman Hong local government council between 2019-2022 died on Sunday August 4, 2024 after a brief illness.
In a condolence message to the family of the deceased, the university Don regretted that Hon Pukuma will be greatly missed, particularly for his service to the Hóba land during his tenure.
