Princess Azura described the children's release as an answered prayer and a source of immense relief to their families and the entire nation. She recalled that on 8th June 2026, the NCWS commenced a nationwide prayer campaign across its National, State and Local Government chapters, fervently seeking God's intervention for the safety and release of all kidnapped children and victims of insecurity across Nigeria.

"From the National Executive to our State and Local Government chapters, we united in prayer on June 8, believing that God would intervene. Today, we return all glory to Almighty God because He has answered our prayers. The safe release of these innocent children is a testimony that God still answers the cries of His people," Princess Azura said.

She thanked the Almighty God for preserving the lives of the children and bringing them back safely to their loved ones.

The NCWS President also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, and all relevant authorities whose dedication, collaboration, and sacrifices contributed to the successful rescue and safe return of the children.

She urged governments at all levels to sustain efforts toward strengthening security in schools and communities while ensuring that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are brought to justice.

While celebrating the joyful development, she also remembered other victims who are still being held captive across the country.

"As we celebrate today, we have not forgotten the many children and other Nigerians who remain in captivity. Our prayers continue until every captive regains freedom. We believe the same God who answered our prayers for the Oyo school children will bring every remaining captive home safely," Princess Azura added.

She called on Nigerians to remain united in prayer, support security agencies with credible information, and continue working collectively towards building a peaceful and secure nation.

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting the welfare, protection, and rights of women and children and to advocating for a safer Nigeria where every child can learn and thrive without fear.

E-DON MAKES HISTORY WITH FIRST-EVER GLOBAL VIRTUAL TRAINING WORKSHOP ON MODERN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL CLASSROOMS IN NIGERIAN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION

The Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) has successfully conducted the first-ever Global Virtual Training Workshop on Modern Educational Technology and Digital Classrooms for Colleges of Education in Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in the country's educational development.

The groundbreaking training, held from June 23 to 24, 2026, was simultaneously conducted at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Sa'adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano State. The programme is regarded as the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian Colleges of Education, bringing international classroom experiences directly to Nigerian students and educators through advanced educational technology.

The workshop highlighted the immense benefits of electronic education and demonstrated how technology can effectively bridge geographical barriers in teaching and learning. The initiative provides valuable international linkages that introduce global perspectives into classroom instruction while promoting the integration of modern educational technologies into local educational practices. It also advances international collaboration in education, fosters innovative teaching methodologies, and offers internationally recognised certification opportunities that contribute to the professional development of both staff and students.

A major feature of the training was the deployment of the TETFund Zonal Intervention E-DON 98-inch QR Interactive Board equipped with embedded 3D Simulation Animation Software. The state-of-the-art technology showcased the transformative power of multimedia learning in today's digital educational environment.

The highlight of the event was a live international classroom linkage between participants in Nigeria and Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri, United States of America. During the session, Assistant Professor Donna Stallings of Lincoln University delivered a live lecture to students in Nigeria on a course offered by the American institution. Students actively participated in the class, interacting with the lecturer and asking questions in real time.

The unprecedented development demonstrated that with the right technology and enabling environment, there are virtually no barriers to education. It represents a historic achievement for Nigerian Colleges of Education, as it is the first known instance where students received direct classroom instruction from a university lecturer abroad while remaining in their local institutions.

Participants expressed excitement and appreciation for the opportunity. Speaking on behalf of Sa'adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano, the Provost, Dr. Kabiru Ahmed Gwarzo, described the programme as a remarkable innovation. He expressed gratitude to E-DON for selecting his institution as the beneficiary in Northern Nigeria and stated that the initiative would open doors for greater collaboration with educational institutions across the globe. According to him, such partnerships would enhance the capacity of both staff and students and prepare them to be globally competitive and productive.

Similarly, the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr. Raufu Adekola Soyele, represented by his Deputy Provost Academics Dr Soyele who also serves as Chairman of the Committee of Provosts of Nigerian Colleges of Education, commended E-DON for pioneering the initiative. He described the programme as timely and transformative, noting that it aligns with global best practices in teaching and learning. He expressed appreciation to E-DON, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) for their support in promoting technology-driven education across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Speaking during the programme, the Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Programme Coordinator of the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON), Dr. Idonuagbe Akogun, a Federal Government National Honor Award Recipient (Diaspora) on Education explained that the initiative seeks to expand Nigerian classrooms beyond national boundaries by leveraging modern educational technologies. He noted that through digital innovation, students can gain access to international knowledge, global classroom experiences, and opportunities that prepare them to become productive global citizens.

Dr. Akogun further emphasized that technology has the potential to revolutionise education in Nigeria and Africa if properly harnessed. He commended the digitalisation policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, particularly initiatives aimed at integrating technology into the nation's educational system.

Education experts have also lauded the initiative, observing that such programmes could significantly reduce educational tourism by providing students with access to world-class learning experiences without the need to travel abroad. They noted that the ability to interact directly with international lecturers and institutions from local classrooms represents a major step towards achieving global standards in education delivery.

The successful implementation of the Global Virtual Training Workshop underscores E-DON's commitment to transforming education through innovation, technology, and international collaboration. By creating digital pathways that connect Nigerian classrooms to the rest of the world, E-DON is redefining the future of education in Nigeria and across Africa.

As the continent continues to embrace the digital age, stakeholders have called on governments, educational agencies, development partners, and private sector organisations to support and expand initiatives such as E-DON. Such support, they argue, will accelerate educational transformation, enhance learning outcomes, and position Africa as a major player in the global knowledge economy.

World Environment Day: NCWS Reaffirms Commitment to Environmental Sustainability, Women Empowerment

The National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria, Princess Edna D.D. Azura (Kwatam Mutaku), has reaffirmed the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability and climate action as the world commemorates World Environment Day 2026.

In her World Environment Day message, Princess Azura emphasized the critical role women play in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development. She pledged that under her leadership, the NCWS would continue to champion initiatives aimed at safeguarding the environment while empowering women with sustainable alternatives for livelihood and energy use.

According to her, environmental protection is not only a responsibility but a necessity for ensuring a healthy and prosperous future for generations yet unborn.

"The National Council of Women Societies remains committed to supporting environmental sustainability through practical actions and community-based initiatives. Protecting our environment is protecting our future, and women must continue to be at the forefront of this noble cause," she stated.

Princess Azura highlighted several environmental initiatives undertaken by the NCWS across the country. These include tree-planting campaigns aimed at combating deforestation, restoring degraded lands, and improving environmental resilience against the effects of climate change.

She further disclosed that the organization has been promoting the use of briquettes as an alternative source of household fuel, particularly among women in rural and urban communities. The initiative is designed to reduce dependence on firewood and charcoal, thereby minimizing indiscriminate tree felling and environmental degradation.

The NCWS President noted that the briquette programme not only protects the environment but also provides economic opportunities for women, helping them generate income while contributing to a cleaner and healthier ecosystem.

In addition, the organization has intensified environmental awareness campaigns and sensitization programmes targeted at women and communities across Nigeria. Through these campaigns, women are educated on proper waste management, environmental conservation, climate-smart practices, and the importance of maintaining clean and healthy surroundings.

Princess Azura also emphasized the need for Nigerians to embrace the concept of sustainability in their daily activities. She explained that sustainable practices ensure that natural resources are utilized responsibly without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

NCWS National President, Princess Edna D.D. Azura, Decries Abduction of Oyo School Children, Demands Immediate Rescue and Stronger Security Measures

The National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria, Princess Edna D.D. Azura (Kwatam Mutaku), has expressed deep concern and outrage over the recent abduction of school children in Oyo State, describing the incident as a tragic assault on the safety, education, and future of Nigerian children.

Speaking on the unfortunate development, Princess Azura said she speaks today first as a mother, and as the voice of millions of Nigerian women, to express profound grief and righteous indignation over the incident.

According to her, "This is not just an attack on a school. This is an attack on motherhood. It is an assault on every Nigerian woman who wakes up each morning to prepare her child for school, prays over that child, and expects that child to return home safely."

Reports indicate that the victims, including school children, were forcefully taken by armed criminals, creating fear and anxiety among parents, educators, and communities. The incident has once again drawn national attention to the persistent threat of kidnapping and insecurity affecting schools and vulnerable populations across the country.

Princess Azura lamented that there are homes in Oyo State where food has not been cooked, where beds remain untouched, and where mothers sit anxiously by their doors praying and hoping for the safe return of their children.

On behalf of Nigerian women, the NCWS President declared the solidarity of the organization with the affected families.

"We stand firmly with the mothers of the abducted children. Your pain is our pain. Your children are our children. We are keeping vigil with you in prayer and in action until every child returns safely home."

Princess Azura called for the immediate and unconditional release of all the abducted children and urged security agencies to intensify rescue operations to ensure their safe return to their families without delay.

"These children are not bargaining chips. They are sons and daughters who belong in their mothers' arms, not in the hands of criminals. Every hour spent in captivity deepens the trauma for both the victims and their families."

She further appealed to security agencies to approach the rescue efforts with the highest level of urgency and commitment.

"We urge our security personnel to remember that behind every statistic is a mother who has not slept. We ask them to pursue rescue operations with the urgency of a parent whose own child is missing. Every hour counts."

According to her, "No child should have to live in fear of going to school, and no parent should experience the agony of not knowing the whereabout of their child. Education must remain a safe and secure pathway to national development."

The NCWS President further urged the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and all relevant security agencies to adopt more proactive and preventive security measures around schools and communities to forestall future occurrences. She stressed that intelligence gathering, community policing, surveillance systems, and rapid response mechanisms must be strengthened to protect innocent citizens, especially children.

Princess Azura noted with concern that the abduction of school children has become a recurring challenge in our nation, citing previous incidents such as the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in Borno State in 2014, the kidnapping of students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State in 2020, the abduction of students in Jangebe, Zamfara State in 2021, and several other attacks on schools across Kaduna, Niger, and other states.

She emphasized that Nigeria must not allow such incidents to become normalized, adding that the safety of children must remain a national priority.

"We do not want to witness another incident of this nature anywhere in our nation. Our children deserve to learn in peace, and our schools must never become targets for criminal elements. The nation must rise collectively to end this menace once and for all."

While expressing concern over the security situation, Princess Azura commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government, security agencies, and state governments for their ongoing efforts to combat insecurity across the country. She acknowledged the successes recorded in rescue operations and security interventions in various parts of Nigeria and encouraged authorities to sustain and strengthen these efforts until the country is completely rid of the scourge of kidnapping and banditry.

The NCWS President also called on Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.

She concluded by assuring the affected families of NCWS's solidarity and prayers during this difficult period and expressed hope for the safe return of all those currently in captivity.

EducationNAPS Demands Inclusion Of EDON Digital Classroom Initiative In Polytechnics Nati by Zibite(op): 9:56pm On May 28
NAPS Demands Inclusion of EDON Digital Classroom Initiative in Polytechnics Nationwide

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has called on the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Council of Heads of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria (COHEADS), and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to urgently include the Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) Digital Classroom Initiative in intervention programmes for Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology across Nigeria.

Speaking during a press conference, NAPS President, Comrade Eshiofune Paul Oghayan, said the future of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria depends on the country’s ability to embrace digital learning, Artificial Intelligence, innovation, and globally competitive educational systems.

According to him, Polytechnic education in Nigeria remains heavily dependent on outdated classroom methods despite the practical and technology-driven nature of Polytechnic programmes.

He noted that many institutions still rely on conventional chalkboards, outdated projectors, inadequate simulation facilities, and limited digital teaching infrastructure, a situation he said continues to hinder innovation, practical learning, and global competitiveness among Polytechnic graduates.

The NAPS President explained that the EDON Digital Classroom Initiative, which features the 98-inch EDON QR Interactive Board and the EDON 3D Animation Simulation Pro Software, would significantly transform learning outcomes in Nigerian Polytechnics.

He stated that the initiative also comes with embedded Artificial Intelligence teaching tools, interactive technical and vocational simulations, and smart classroom analytics systems designed to improve teaching quality, student participation, practical demonstrations, and research engagement.

Comrade Oghayan revealed that representatives of the Polytechnic Students Union recently embarked on visits to Colleges of Education where the EDON initiative has already been deployed, describing the feedback from students and lecturers as highly impressive.

He said the success recorded in those institutions encouraged NAPS to advocate for the extension of the initiative to Polytechnics nationwide.

“We cannot continue preparing students for tomorrow’s industries using yesterday’s learning methods,” he said.

According to him, the global economy is rapidly advancing toward Artificial Intelligence, robotics, automation, digital manufacturing, virtual simulations, and Industry 4.0 technologies, making it necessary for Polytechnic education in Nigeria to evolve in line with global realities.

He added that the AI-powered learning system would enable Polytechnic students to conduct virtual practical simulations, understand complex engineering concepts more effectively, access AI-supported lesson summaries, improve digital literacy, and gain exposure to globally accepted technological learning systems.

The NAPS President stressed that graduates produced through digitally enhanced learning environments would become more employable, innovation-driven, entrepreneurial, and globally competitive.

The student body further argued that TETFund intervention remains the most sustainable and equitable pathway for implementing the initiative nationwide, especially considering the financial limitations currently facing many Polytechnics.

NAPS maintained that adopting the EDON initiative under future TETFund intervention programmes would ensure equal access to digital learning opportunities across all regions of the country, standardize smart classroom systems, strengthen Nigeria’s TVET agenda, promote indigenous technology solutions, and reduce graduate unemployment.

The association also commended institutions where the EDON solution has reportedly improved classroom effectiveness, lecturer productivity, and student engagement, describing the initiative as practical, sustainable, and transformative.

NAPS further appealed to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the initiative as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in areas relating to digital economy development, youth empowerment, Artificial Intelligence integration, technical education advancement, entrepreneurship, and local content promotion.

The association consequently demanded immediate consideration of the EDON Digital Classroom Initiative under TETFund intervention programmes, collaboration among relevant education stakeholders for nationwide implementation, and policy actions aimed at modernizing Polytechnic education in Nigeria.

Concluding the press conference, Comrade Oghayan said the future of Nigerian Polytechnic education cannot be built on obsolete systems.

“Polytechnic students deserve smart classrooms. Polytechnic students deserve AI-powered learning. Polytechnic students deserve globally competitive educational infrastructure,” he stated.

He urged all relevant authorities to treat the matter with urgency and national importance in order to build a modern, innovative, and globally competitive Polytechnic education system for Nigeria.

Gombi/Hong Reps Aspirant Alvary Andrew Durkwa Resigns from ADC

Bldr. Alvary Andrew Durkwa (AAD), a former aspirant for the Gombi/Hong Federal House of Representatives seat, has formally resigned his membership from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a resignation letter dated May 23, 2026 and addressed to the Chairman of Garkida Ward in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Durkwa cited alleged irregularities and lack of transparency in the party’s ongoing primary election process as reasons for his decision.

Durkwa, who had earlier withdrawn from the Gombi/Hong House of Representatives primary election, said the prevailing circumstances within the party no longer aligned with his democratic principles and belief in justice, equity, and credible internal democracy.

According to him, the conduct of the primaries eroded his confidence in the fairness of the process, making it difficult for him to continue his political journey within the ADC.

“I can no longer continue in the party under the prevailing circumstances,” he stated in the letter.

The former aspirant appreciated leaders and members of Garkida Ward, as well as the ADC leadership in Gombi, Hong, and Adamawa State for the support and cooperation extended to him during his stay in the party.

He also wished the party and its members success in their future political engagements.

Durkwa’s resignation adds to the growing concerns surrounding internal party disputes and controversies trailing some political party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections in Adamawa State.

The former aspirant stated that the process failed to reflect democratic principles and transparency expected in a credible election. He alleged that the primary exercise was marred by interference and irregularities, prompting him to step aside from the contest.

Durkwa, however, expressed deep appreciation to his supporters, stakeholders, youth groups, and women groups for their unwavering support and sacrifices throughout his political journey.

Despite withdrawing from the race, he reaffirmed his commitment to the unity, progress, and development of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency, assuring supporters that consultations are ongoing regarding his next political direction.

“I urge all my supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding as further consultations continue regarding my next line of action,” he stated in the release.

The development comes amid reported internal crises and leadership disputes within the ADC in Adamawa State, with several court cases and disagreements over party congresses and internal processes already making headlines in recent weeks.

The workshop, which was held today at Adamawa State College of Education, Hong, attracted women from various chapters of NCWS across Adamawa State, alongside representatives of several women organizations and groups.

Among dignitaries at the event was the paramount ruler of the Huba Kingdom, Barrister Dr. Alheri Bulus Nyako, Tòl Huba, who was represented by the District Head of Dugwaba, Chief Simon Yakubu.

In her opening remarks, the National President of NCWS Nigeria, Princess Edna DD Azura (Kwatam Mutaku), welcomed participants and stressed the urgent need to address the growing dangers of deforestation in society.

She noted that indiscriminate felling of trees has continued to worsen environmental challenges such as climate change, desertification, soil erosion, and rising temperatures, with women and children often bearing the greatest burden due to their dependence on firewood for cooking and domestic activities.

Princess Azura explained that the recent law enacted by the Adamawa State Government under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri banning the cutting of trees further underscored the importance of the workshop, as women must now embrace alternative and sustainable energy sources.

According to her, the training was designed to teach women how to convert commonly available waste materials within their communities into briquettes for cooking and domestic use.

She said briquettes are environmentally friendly, cost-effective, sustainable, and capable of significantly reducing dependence on firewood, thereby helping to mitigate deforestation and protect the ecosystem.

The NCWS President urged participants to take full advantage of the training, noting that beyond household use, briquettes production also presents an opportunity for women to generate income and improve their livelihoods.

During the practical session, participants were trained on the production of briquettes using locally sourced materials such as chaff, groundnut peels, sawdust, rice husks, maize stalks, dry leaves, paper waste, and charcoal dust with the aid of simply fabricated machines.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a presentation by Mr Ishaya Adamu on empowering women and girls through sustainable tree planting initiatives in Adamawa State. Another major activity was the presentation of briquettes production machines by the NCWS National President to various state chapters to support continued production at the grassroots level.

In a goodwill message, the royal father described the training as timely, especially at a period when environmental degradation, economic hardship, and the rising cost of cooking fuel continue to affect many households.

He commended NCWS and ICW-CIF for initiating the workshop and for their commitment to empowering women through practical and sustainable solutions that will benefit families and communities.

Participants at the workshop expressed appreciation to the organizers, describing the training as impactful and enlightening. They pledged to step down the knowledge acquired to other women in their communities and intensify efforts toward environmental protection and economic self-reliance.

The successful workshop further demonstrates the commitment of the NCWS National President, Princess Edna DD Azura, toward addressing the challenges facing women and improving their socio-economic wellbeing through innovative and sustainable initiatives.

Arc. Julius Jerrison Kussiy Condemns APC Primary Election in Gombi/Hong, Describes Exercise as a Sham

A frontline aspirant for the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress, Arc. (Dr.) Julius Jerrison Kussiy, has strongly condemned the conduct of the party’s House of Representatives primary election held on Saturday, 16th May 2026, describing the entire exercise in Gombi and Hong Local Government Areas as “a complete sham and a betrayal of democratic principles.”

In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists, Arc. Kussiy expressed deep disappointment over what he described as the total absence of electoral activities across the 22 wards of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency despite the party’s official schedule for the primaries.

According to him, no election took place in the constituency as officials saddled with the responsibility of conducting the exercise failed to appear in the wards.

“Today, the APC scheduled its primary election to determine the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 House of Representatives election. Unfortunately, in Gombi and Hong Federal Constituency, what was expected to be a democratic exercise turned out to be a complete sham,” he stated.

“There was no election anywhere across the 22 wards of the constituency. My agents and supporters were fully mobilised and stationed across the wards waiting for electoral officials who never arrived. The process was completely absent, yet attempts may be made to announce fabricated results,” he added.

Arc. Kussiy insisted that any result purportedly announced from the exercise should be rejected by party faithful and the general public, stressing that no legitimate primary election was conducted in the constituency.

The aspirant recalled the provisions of the Electoral Act regarding candidate nomination processes, reiterating that the law only recognises consensus and direct primaries as legitimate methods for the emergence of candidates.

“As clearly provided by the Electoral Act, where consensus fails, direct primaries must be conducted with party members freely voting for candidates of their choice. That was the expectation of our supporters and party members across Gombi and Hong. Sadly, what happened today fell far below democratic standards and the expectations of the people,” he said.

He warned that actions capable of undermining internal democracy within the party could have grave consequences for the future success and unity of the APC in the constituency and beyond.

According to him, imposition and manipulation of the democratic process often breed disenchantment among loyal party members, deepen internal divisions, discourage grassroots participation, and weaken the party’s electoral strength ahead of general elections.

“When party members are denied fair participation, it creates frustration, resentment, and loss of confidence in the system. Such actions are dangerous to the unity, stability, and future electoral success of the party,” he noted.

Arc. Kussiy, however, called on his supporters across the constituency to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and steadfast while he explores lawful and constitutional means to address the situation.

“I urge all my supporters to remain calm and peaceful. We must continue to believe in justice, democracy, and the rule of law as we explore every legitimate avenue available to address this unfortunate development,” he concluded.

Politics"No Candidate Imposition In Gombi/hong APC Primaries” — Arc. Julius Kussiy by Zibite(op): 9:41pm On May 13
PRESS RELEASE
“There Will Be No Candidate Imposition in Gombi/Hong APC Primaries” — Arc. Julius Jerrison Kussiy

A frontline aspirant for the Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress, Arc. (Dr.) Julius Jerrison Kussiy, has dismissed rumours alleging plans to impose a candidate for the party’s 2027 ticket in the constituency.

In a statement personally signed on Tuesday, Arc. Kussiy described the rumours as “unfounded, baseless, and deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and erode confidence in the democratic and electoral process.”

According to him, the provisions of the Electoral Act clearly stipulate the acceptable modes of candidate nomination by political parties, leaving no room for imposition.

“The Nigeria Electoral Act, 2026, particularly Section 84(2), recognises only two legitimate methods for the emergence of candidates, and imposition is not one of them,” he stated.

He explained that the first method is consensus, which can only stand where all cleared aspirants voluntarily agree in writing to step down for a particular candidate.

“Where even one aspirant declines consent, the party is legally bound to conduct direct primaries,” he added.

Arc. Kussiy further noted that the second recognised method is direct primaries, where every registered party member is given the opportunity to vote directly for the aspirant of their choice.

The APC aspirant stressed that candidate imposition runs contrary to the provisions of the law, the directives of the national leadership of the party, and the democratic ideals being championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The era where individuals sit back and expect tickets to be handed to them is over. Such practices weaken internal democracy, breed resentment among party members, encourage defections, and ultimately threaten the unity and electoral strength of the party,” he said.

He called on his supporters across Gombi and Hong Local Government Areas to remain calm, focused, and prepared for the party primaries, expressing confidence in emerging victorious through a transparent process.

Arc. Kussiy maintained that he has fulfilled all lawful and constitutional requirements expected of an aspirant seeking the party’s ticket.

According to him, he has formally declared his intention to contest before constituents across both local government areas, purchased and submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms, appeared before the party’s screening committee, and has been duly cleared.

“What remains now is for the party to provide a level playing ground for all aspirants. I am confident of victory because I have consulted widely, visited all the 22 wards in the constituency, and presented my manifesto which reflects the wishes, aspirations, and yearnings of our people,” he stated.

The aspirant also appreciated his growing support base across the constituency and assured supporters that brighter days lie ahead.

“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support, encouragement, and solidarity from the good people of Gombi/Hong. The movement continues to grow daily, and I assure everyone that there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel,” he concluded.

Student representatives who participated in the training also expressed satisfaction, noting that the introduction of such advanced teaching tools would greatly enhance their learning experience. They called for the deployment of the interactive boards across all departments, emphasizing that the technology makes lessons more engaging, clearer, and easier to grasp.

Overall, the training was widely regarded as successful and impactful, ending on a positive note with renewed commitment from both staff and students to embrace digital innovation in teaching and learning.

FoodAppreciating Saidu Sadiq , A Vegetable Seller In Hong Market by Zibite(op): 6:32am On Apr 22
Appreciating Saidu Sadiq , a Vegetable Seller in Hong Market

It is often said that it is good to appreciate people while they are still alive, to let them know that their kindness and generosity do not go unnoticed, and to encourage them to continue doing good. It is on this note that I wish to sincerely appreciate my friend Sadiq Saidu, a vegetable seller in Hong Market.

I did not fully understand the responsibility of buying vegetables until I got married to my beautiful wife Comfort Zibite Kurwizi and brought her to Hong, a place where she initially knew no one. In those early days, I had to go to the market myself until she became familiar with the environment.

Indeed, marriage comes with blessings, and Sadiq is one of such blessings in my life. For almost two years now, he has consistently given my family vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, onions, okra, free of charge and in such abundance that my wife now preserves some by drying them.

I still remember the first day I took my wife to meet him in the market. The quantity of vegetables he gave us left us completely amazed. At the time, prices were high, and we wondered how we could afford it. When I tried to pay him, he refused, saying it was a welcome gift for my wife and our new home.

On subsequent visits, even when my wife went alone, he continued this act of kindness, giving more than enough and refusing to accept payment. Even today, unless we insist and drop something, he will not accept money. Sometimes, we even hesitate to go to him because we feel we might be taking too much.

Sadiq, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have not only made life easier for me but you have also increased my dignity and respect within my family. Through your kindness, my wife sees the goodness in me reflected through you.

I may never be able to fully repay you, now or in the future. On behalf of my entire family, I say thank you, and I pray that God continues to bless and reward you abundantly.

There is a lesson for all of us in this: wherever we find ourselves, we should strive to live in peace with everyone, regardless of our differences. I have known Sadiq for about 18 years, dating back to our time at Adamawa State College of Education, Hong, where we were coursemates studying Economics/Geography. He has always been a kind person even from those days.

BIO-SKETCH OF DR. IDONUAGBE AKOGUN

Dr. Idonuagbe Akogun, fondly known as “The Prof,” is a Nigerian-American visionary leader, education innovator, and global human capacity development advocate whose life’s work continues to redefine the intersection of technology, education, and leadership across continents. Born at the University College Hospital within the University of Ibadan, his nickname reflects not only his academic roots but also the intellectual depth and foresight that have come to characterize his journey.

Dr. Akogun’s educational trajectory is both distinguished and diverse. He began his formative years at the Air Force Military School, Jos, Plateau State, and later proceeded to the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, Kaduna State—institutions renowned for discipline, leadership grooming, and academic rigor. He subsequently gained admission into the prestigious University of Ibadan, further solidifying his academic foundation before earning an international scholarship to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, USA. There, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in Economics. Driven by a passion for global systems and logistics, he advanced his studies at Brooks College Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he earned a postgraduate certification in Global Freight and Transportation Management.

Professionally, Dr. Akogun has demonstrated excellence across both public and private sectors in the United States and Nigeria. He served with distinction in the Texas State Government, contributing to Elections and Voter Registration as a Team Leader and Head of the Diaspora Integration Section. Prior to that, he worked with the Missouri State Government in the Tax Revenue Office, where he gained valuable experience in governance systems and public administration.

However, it was in 2010 that Dr. Akogun emerged as a transformative force on the global stage with the launch of his groundbreaking Electronic Education Initiative (EEI). This pioneering project created innovative pathways for leveraging technology to bridge the educational divide between developed and developing nations. Long before the global shift necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Akogun had already proven that geographical boundaries were no limitation to knowledge transfer.

Bridging the Educational Divide: How Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) is Redefining Learning in the nation of Nigeria and the African Continent

In a continent where the educational sector continues to grapple with infrastructure deficits, outdated teaching methods, and limited global exposure, innovative interventions are no longer optional they are essential. The Electronic Education Initiative (E-DON) founded by Dr Idonuagbe Akogun stands out as one of such transformative efforts, steadily redefining how knowledge is delivered, accessed, and experienced across Nigeria’s and soon the African tertiary education landscape.

At its core, E-DON represents a bold response to one of Nigeria’s most persistent challenges: the disconnect between local educational systems and global knowledge ecosystems.

A Digital Bridge Across Continents
E-DON’s most compelling contribution lies in its ability to collapse geographical barriers. By leveraging multimedia technologies and live video conferencing, the initiative connects Nigerian institutions—universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education with counterparts in developed countries.

This model introduces students and lecturers to real-time international lectures, seminars, and certification programmes without the burden of travel costs, visa constraints, or limited institutional partnerships. It effectively globalizes the Nigerian classroom, making it possible for a student in a local college to learn directly from experts thousands of miles away.
In a system where exposure often determines competence, this is a game-changer.

Modernizing Teaching and Learning Methods
Nigeria’s education system has long been criticized for its heavy reliance on traditional, lecture-based teaching. E-DON disrupts this norm by introducing interactive, technology-driven learning tools such as live streaming, simulation software, and digital boards.
According to stakeholders, the initiative has enhanced “modern teaching methods and seamless classroom interaction,” transforming not just what is taught, but how it is taught.
This shift is particularly critical for Colleges of Education, where future teachers are trained. By equipping them with digital competencies, E-DON ensures that the ripple effect of innovation extends to primary and secondary education levels.

Tackling the Digital Divide Head-On
The digital divide remains a major barrier to educational equity in Nigeria. Many students still lack access to quality resources, modern tools, and up-to-date content. E-learning, globally recognized as a solution to such disparities, enables flexible, accessible, and cost-effective learning.
E-DON fits squarely into this solution space. By bringing technology-enabled learning into classrooms and communities, it democratizes access to knowledge. Students can now engage with standardized, high-quality content and learn at their own pace an advantage that traditional systems often fail to provide.

Building Globally Competitive Graduates
Beyond access and delivery, E-DON is also addressing a deeper issue: relevance. Nigerian and indeed must African graduates are frequently criticized for lacking the practical skills and global competitiveness required in today’s workforce.
Through its partnerships and certification programmes in areas like energy, agriculture, and technology, E-DON aligns learning with industry needs.
The result is a new generation of learners who are not only academically sound but also industry-ready capable of competing with peers on a global stage.

Expanding Impact and National/Continental Recognition
The growing recognition of E-DON’s impact is evident. Student bodies and education stakeholders have called for its nationwide expansion, citing its role in advancing digital education and strengthening Nigeria’s teacher training system.
Such endorsements underscore a broader truth: E-DON is not just an initiative or intervention; it is fast becoming a model for educational reform.

The Road Ahead
While E-DON’s achievements and partnerships with the public and private institutions like the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as well as UNESCO and the Abdul Samad Rabiu ASR Africa Initiative are commendable, scaling remains the next critical frontier. For its full potential to be realized, stronger institutional adoption, government support, and infrastructural investment are necessary.
If properly expanded and sustained, E-DON could serve as the backbone of Nigeria’s and indeed Africa’s transition into a digitally driven education system one that is inclusive, globally connected, and future-ready.
E-DON is more than an initiative; it is a vision in action. By bridging the gap between local limitations and global possibilities, it is rewriting the narrative of education in Africa.
In an era where knowledge is the new currency, initiatives like E-DON are not just bridging gaps they are building bridges to the future.
