Thank God I was sent the e-mail on Mon 12th Nov inviting me for the Pre -admission test scheduled to hold on 19th. Physics Dept was so kind to give us Areas of concentration Like Electromagnetism, Mechanis and Properties of matter, Quantum mechanics, Mathematical methods and what we should present in the hall like 2 recent passport photographs, writing materials and any means of identification.

It's quite apalling that corruption is the bane of the Nigerian society. It has eaten deep into the fabrics of every facet of the Nigerian economy. Most disappointing is the Education sector. How can any examination board director not understand that the first quarter of the year is mainly the time candidates process their admissions into various national and international higher institutions? Ok, if these future leaders lose their admission because of the unsupposed delay in the release of the results, then what's the need for taking the exams in the penultimate year? Please NECO and NABTEB let us hasten up and post the results of private candidates online to help save their admission and consequently the money most of them have spent already in processing their admissions. To all candidates waiting patiently for the release of the results, I sincerely urge you to exercise more patience. It will surely be pasted online in a couple of days from now.

The long awaited Result will soon be out. The board understands that many candidates want to use the result to process their admission. That is the more reason they have to hasten up and post it on the net so that it may be accessible to the candidates. Do not rely on rumors instead get updated on the internet between now and Wednesday March, 14.

How long shall we continue in darkness?When shall we experience light?When we don't respond to the nee of our workers neither do we compensate those who have sacrifice their time and talent and most of all their youthful prowess for the growth country, yet we still expect them to sit down and watch us the government pay ourselves as at when due even before time.Is it not better to hand over the administration of the country into the hands of our former colonial masters? God forbid I heard you say.But that is what our country clamors for.Today teachers are on strike tomorrow doctors,next and next will be the turn of the radio and theater workers,ASUU, NUJ,NASU,and so on.No facet of our economy is adequately and efficiently managed.Where are we heading to Nigerians?

Agriculture is an art as well as a science.Any university that undertakes programs in Agricultural science related disciplines has as a matter of fact to as well undertake the study of related science and arts courses.In a particular reference to Nigerian academic system,there are three universities of agriculture in the country.It may interest one to know that virtually all the universities of agriculture undertake agricultural related science and art disciplines.Courses such as Physics,chemistry,in short all natural sciences as well as all aspects of engineering are of paramount importance to an average agricultural science students.
The question as to whether these courses should be studied in universities of agriculture should not arise.This is because agricultural science students need these courses to help prepare them well for in debt understanding of their courses.
A pure agricultural scientist as a scientist makes use of those scientific methods in production and research which natural scientists such as a Physicist also use.Taking these two courses; Physics and Agriculture,both are related in very many ways.Physics has contributed much to agricultural development.Areas where they are related includes the following:
There is an area in Physics called soil physics otherwise called agrophysics.This area studies the physical properties of the soil.It studies the effects of the physical variables such as temperature,pressure,humidity etc. on soil culture.
With emphasis on the state and the transport of soil matter such as water, energy and even nutrients in the soil.
The sud discipline to this is the soil mechanics.It undertakes the to study the process of determining the soil properties such as the water holding capacity, soil aeration bulk density,soil permeability,shear strength, soil pressure,soil texture, soil temperature etc.
Advancement in areas of Physics are used to improve the methods of planting,harvesting ,preservation, processing and storage of agricultural products.
Therefore as we can see now from this little treatise that questioning the existence of a Physics department in a university of agriculture is a step in the wrong direction.You can even attest to that.
