Career / Re: An Oil Rig Job In The Dream Became A Reality And Msc Visa Denied After Paying by ZionQueen1: 3:45pm On Dec 30, 2008
My dear, I think God has done a great thing for you. I just concluded my MSc in London (by September), and it has been terrible getting a job since then. One major issue is because I don't have any work experience.
Do your rig job very very well, for maybe 2 or 3 years. Then, apply again afterwards for your masters. They will give you admission quickly, and it wont be hard to get a job, since you have some work experience.
That's my regret now. I wished I worked for at least 2 years before coming to do my masters. cry
Dunt complain, Just work now and do MSc later. That's the best advice I can give you. wink
Career / Re: After Your Msc Abroad: Stay Or Go? by ZionQueen1: 12:11am On Dec 21, 2008
This is a very good topic, Actually, I thought I was alone in this predicament.
I just graduated from a very reputable school in the UK, but it has been terrible (almost impossible) getting a job in my field (oil and gas) being that I have no work experience, and work permit. I have been turned down by over 30 companies (no kidding!) sad

However, I got two temporary jobs- not related to my field in anyway, one is actually a job as a sales assistant in 'Next'. But I am very confused! I dunno if it is worth doing while waiting to get the job I desire, Or to fly back to Nigeria and try my luck.
What do you guys think? undecided
