What OS are You Installing? If its windows XP, You should get a Windows XP SP2 CD in good condition and boot from CD, Do a fresh Install and not repair or upgrade. If its WIndows Vista, Make sure its a backup the OS that was shipped with your Laptop. Run the backup CD and boot it. Or u do asystem Recovery and return system to factory Condition.
