obailala: And u never bothered to ponder, why would ur lords go for carcass, when it was obvious they couldn't resurrect it. They told all sorts of lies, employed wicked propaganda and destructively criticised our lords. They threatened to run parallel govt should the election be rigged even though we were honest with our promise of free and fair elections. It never occurred to u that ur lords were power hungry without any plan to govern. Debates were organized for all to come explain on how to make the country great but ur lords evaded it and accused our lords of fraud( that the system has been hijacked). We even reminded u of the despotic past of ur chief lord but all we heard was, 'politics of calumny'. Our lords wanted to transform but urs insisted on change. We expected ur lords to reject a carcass little did we know they ar scavengers. |

Politics / FULANI HERDSMEN: No One Can Stop Us, dare IPOB, MASSOB, Others by zooster: 5:28pm On May 01, 2016 |
– Fulani herdsmen have said they have the constitutional right to graze in any part of the country and nobody can stop them – This follows ultimatums and threats given by different groups for the herdsmen to vacate the southern part of the country – The herdsmen under the auspices of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria warned against criminalising all Fulani herdsmen – Agbekoya Farmers Association of Nigeria, foremost Yoruba farmers’ pressure group and ethnic militia gave the federal government a 14-day ultimatum to stop the incessant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen – MASSOB stated that Igbo people have been “talking and talking” while they watched their people being killed and now was time for action – IPOB alleged that Boko Haram had been disguising as herdsmen to attack parts of the country Despite threats from some groups, herdsmen from different parts of Nigeria have said nobody has the right to restrict them from grazing their cattle in any part of the country. Dismissing the ultimatums given by different groups for them to vacate the southern part of the country, the herdsmen said nobody can stop them from grazing anywhere as such restriction was unconstitutional. In separate interviews with The Punch, the herdsmen under the auspices of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MCBAN) said the constitution guaranteed their movement into any part of the country. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have been unleashing terror on their host communities. The most recent was in a community in Enugu, where several lives were lost and properties destroyed. Speaking on the issue, Nuru Abdullahi, the chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Plateau state said: “ Why would they ask them not to go to the southern part of the country? It is their constitutional right to move freely as guaranteed by the laws of the land. What the various governments and security agencies should do is to prevent attacks and counter-attacks and such things that breed violence like cattle rustling and trespassing into farmlands. “The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees freedom of movement for every citizen of the country; this includes the right to live, work and carry out any legitimate activity in any part of the country. If and when you breach this freedom, then, the law should deal with you. So, asking anybody not to go to any part of the country is unconstitutional.” On his part, Ardo Ahmadu Suleiman, the chairman of MCBAN north-west zone, said the threats were uncalled for, while warning against criminalising all Fulani herdsmen over the attacks. Meanwhile, foremost Yoruba farmers’ pressure group and ethnic militia, Agbekoya Farmers Association of Nigeria in the south-west, Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (south-east); the Independent Peoples of Biafra (south-east); and some ex-Niger Delta militants in the south-south, have said they are ready to defend their territories should herdsmen attack their communities again. The federal government was given a 14-day ultimatum by the Agbekoya to stop the incessant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on farmers in Yorubaland. Olatunji Bandele, the group’s national publicity secretary said if the government failed to act within the stipulated time, they would retaliate any attack on their communities. According to him, if the situation was not brought under control, the group would “close down all markets in the South West; make sure that Fulani herdsmen do not enter any village in Yoruba land with their cows. And if they dare enter, they are doing it at their own risk. “We have alerted Agbekoya South West warriors across Yorubaland to be battle ready in case the Fulani herdsmen do not heed our warning because this thing has continued for the past four to five years now.” He added that they are taking other security measures which they keeping to themselves. Uchenna Madu, the leader of MASSOB, described the Fulani herdsmen as cowards, saying they ran away after the recent attacks. He said it was time to take action to end killings by herdsmen. Also speaking, Emma Powerful, the publicity secretary of IPOB alleged that Boko Haram had been disguising as herdsmen to attack parts of the country. He said: “ The world is watching IPOB; the plan was for us to retaliate the attacks by Fulani herdsmen but we will not do so. Rather, we will ask those who are under attack to defend themselves or get killed. The international rule is that you have the right to self defence if your life is under threat; security agencies know that. Face whatever or whoever is going to kill you or you die.” Speaking in a telephone interview, the national coordinator of the Yoruba group, Oodua Peoples Congress, Gani Adams said the attacks by Fulani herdsmen in the region had gone out of hand and they would not sit by and pretend as if all was well. Abdullahi Abubakar, the chairman of MCBAN in Bauchi state, said the association was planning to hold an emergency executive meeting on Monday or Tuesday to discuss the issues affecting herdsmen. Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the National Association of Nigerian Students have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the problem. https://www.naij.com/816534-no-one-can-stop-us-grazing-south-fulani-herdsmen-challenge-ipob-massob-others.html?source=index_trending |

Politics / Enugu Attack: Police Releases Statement by zooster: 6:25pm On Apr 27, 2016 |
– The Enugu police has referred to the perpetrators of the attack in Enugu as hoodlums – The police sympathised with families of the victims and promised to bring the perpetrators to book – It also clarified the number of victims affected by the onslaught The Enugu state police command has provided a report on the supposed Fulani herdsmen attack which occurred in Ukpabi Nimbo community in the state but significantly referred to the perpetrators as hoodlums rather than herdsmen The attack occurred on Monday, April 26 in Uzo-Uwani council and it was reported that 500 people died in the attack while over 2000 persons were displaced as they fled to neighboring communities of Nkpologu and Uvuru, even as Nkpologu natives fled to Nsukka in fear of attack. Houses were reportedly burnt while goods worth millions of naira were lost while it was reported that Fulani herdsmen imported about 500 others from Nasarawa state to help launch the attack on the community. However, in a statement signed by Ebere Amaraizu who is the spokesperson of the Enugu state police, it was reported that only 6 persons died while 11 persons were injured as against the earlier figures of causalities and that the attack was carried out by hoodlums. The police also confirmed that vehicles were burnt and damaged in the attack but assured that the perpetrators will be brought to book Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that some Fulani herdsmen invaded Umuchigbo community in Enugu, just a few days after an initial attack. https://www.naij.com/813182-not-herdsmen-police-gives-actual-report-attack-enugu-photo.html?source=index_main 1 Like 2 Shares

Politics / New Niger Delta Militants Emerge, Threaten President Buhari by zooster: 8:10pm On Apr 25, 2016 |
– New militant group emerges with a fresh threat to President Muhammadu Buhari – Lashes out at the Nigerian government for neglecting its region in the last 50 years – Presents demands to President Buhari, while also stating that Nigeria is a failed state – Says it is neither Boko Haram nor ISIS – Calls for Nigerians’ support in its cause A new militant group identified as ‘The Niger Delta’ Avengers in Nigeria’s Niger-Delta region, has issued a warning to President Muhammadu Buhari. In a press statement made available to Sahara Reporters, the group says the president should hold a national conference where Nigerians would be allowed to vote on whether or not to divide the country into four self- governing regions. The militants, in the statement titled ‘Nigeria is a failed entity’, also threatened to cripple the economy if their demands are not met by the President Buhari-led federal government. While stating that Nigeria (which was brought together by Sir Lord Lugard) died after 1966 and the country no longer exists, the group stated that the region has been neglected by the present administration of President Buhari, and has called for a division. “The recent happenings in the country is clear eye opener to how the Nigerian state has derailed and its heading to nowhere. “A country where those in power over look the main reasons why they were voted into power. That has showed how self centered and selfish the people we look up to as leaders in the country. “When they (politicians) are elected or appointed into any political office. Their primary aim is to enrich themselves and influence infrastructural projects to their region. “Clear example is the present administration where Fulani herdsmen whom are the kinsmen of President Buhari are above the law despite the killing and atrocities they have committed against farmers in the south and middle belt but the president can give a shoot on sight directive to military against the peaceful protest of the Indigenous people of Biafra. “Other one is the 2016 budget where nearly all the major projects are channeled to the North even though the creeks of the Niger delta are in dear need of development to improve the standard of living,” the statement read in part. While expressing its grievances over the neglect of the Niger Delta for over 50 years, the group revealed why they began their militancy and despite the fact that the late President Umaru Musa Yaradua proclaimed amnesty for the agitators, nothing has been done about their demands. “The Niger Delta has been neglected for more than 50 years which gave birth to the arm struggle in the region but after the proclamation of the presidential amnesty to all agitators by President Umaru Musa Yara- duha little or none has been done about the Niger delta in terms of human capital development, infrastructural development, youth empowerment/educational infrastructure. “The truth is, nothing has been done about the Niger delta. Niger Delta Development commission (NDDC) that has the statutory mandate to develop the region is cash cow for the northerner and their southern political counterparts. “The Niger delta region to the Nigerian government is like forbidding region as stated by one of our own, the minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi. That no parents will send their ward to school in the Niger Delta. A reason why the President Buhari led Administration cancelled the Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko. “Forgetting university of Port Harcourt he graduated from is sited in the Niger Delta. He is from a poor background like most other Niger Deltans but was able to attend university because it was sited in his community so why depriving other people from the region to benefit like he did? What a shame! “After a critical analysis and evaluation of the present happenings we come to a conclusion that, despite the president’s age and his cluelessness, he should call for a sovereign national conference. Where citizens from all regions will part take freely and decides whether the entity Nigeria should remain or break up WITHOUT PULLING A TRIGGER,” the statement read further. While stating clearly what it stands for, the group, through the statement, noted that, “The Niger delta avengers high command, which comprises of agitators from all ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, has concluded that if the president fails to hear our voice and refuse to call for the sovereign national conference. “We will ensure its happens or we will employ our second option by crippling the economy of the country. We won’t stop at that but dead ready to take the fight out of the creeks and take it to cities like Abuja, Lagos, Calabar, Port Harcourt just to name a few. And Avengers are not interested in taking innocent lives, but we will defend territory and ourselves . “The Niger Delta Avengers are not Boko Haram, we are not ISIS. All we are asking for is a better living for the people of the Niger Delta and self-determination that is to govern ourselves. We will soon raise our flag and name our interim ruling Council. “We are calling on all Nigerians to come out and support this cause.” https://www.naij.com/810647-new-militant-group-emerges-threatens-president-buhari-makes-unbelievable-demand.html?source=index_main |
