Politics / Re: Tough Policies: IMF, World Bank Take Over Nigeria’s Economy - TribuneOnline by 0balufonlll: 8:18pm On Sep 06, 2020
kikero:

Most if not all African economies fall victim to the IMF because their sources of income have problems.....

First, most African countries rely on selling raw materials and commodities to the global market

Second we use the income from the sales to import goods and services, including some that we can produce on our own at a value that is higher than our income

Third , we don't control the price of the raw materials we sell. Prices of crude oil are determined in London and New York

Fourth, we spend billions on subsides and other socialist welfarist projects which end up costing more than we estimated because of our growing population and low tax base

Fifth, we tolerate corruption, both at the low and also by the big men and women. And most of the money stolen comes from loans taken

All these puts us into deficit and into the hands of the IMF and the world Bank.

Nigeria is a classic example.

We could be free.from the IMF, but because it involves fighting corruption seriously.and cutting subsides seriously, and becoming an industrial economy which means an initial period of hardship, we refuse to take those routes.

A student of Walter Rodney.
Good work.

A deluded individual.

Since you are Nigerian then you must begin

To speak Nigerian apart from English Language.

To dress Nigerian apart from Western outfits

Have a Nigerian name apart from a foreign name

Ose jare!

Descendants of cannibalists have mouth to talk about skull mining. grin

They're poor students of History and we'll remind them of their ancestral practices of feasting on human body parts from pre-historic times way into the early 20th century.

Im speechless, honestly

TheChameleon:

Wow. This is exactly what happens in real life. I didn't even know of this.

I don't even mind them here because my best friend is actually Igbo, but majority of those on Nairaland are IQ-deficient.... to be polite.

It would have been so refreshing and enlightening to have a debate with someone intelligent that has a contrary opinion to yours.

Till you hear what your bestfriend and his family discuss about you & your people.

DenreleDave:

Really? What there anytin like biafraland website created out of their hatred for nairaland?

You all can take a look at the screenshot from internet time machine showing the site as at 2001. Today, the site is non-existent.

Keep quiet.

You can quite easily create Biafraland.

101% of your comments make zero sense.

In a sane world, your IP should be banned.

You have absolutely nothing intelligent to contribute, that much is obvious.

Actually, there was a Biafraland website designed exactly like Nairaland but with a blue light blue interface.

The Ibo claimed they were the most populous here and threatened Sheun that his forum would collapse if they left - well, they did try but NL waxed on stronger and for a moment, the forum was sane in their absence with academic, political and mostly beneficial topics getting posted.

Guess what happened to the Biafraland? It failed. They bickered each other to death, they had zero content and most of all, the hate among the Ib.o sub-group consumed them over there. Like everything they set out to do in real life, their internet Biafraland failed.

All of what you all rushed to enjoy & still continue to flock Yorubaland to enjoy till today.
What is Zik's legacy or Ojukwu's legacy other than selfish coup-sympathy & the sacrificial murder of millions to lead a country by force.

Another bad English. Do you have an Abia Osu's labia meat stuck in your tooth or something?
Anambra people consider Abia people to be lesser Ibo, so I won't be surprised if all you all did before 1910 was to eat them.
Such a shameful history for a people to have.

I wish there were records to back that up.
Imagine a father as at 1910 requesting that the white man include human flesh in his little boy's diet.
Meeting the whiteman, the Yoruba & the Hausa was indeed a turning point for you people o. Eating yourselves as at 1910.

There has never been intentional spread of misinformation for the benefit of Islam, Islam stands for truth and its propagated with the truth.
Don't spread misinformation bout Islam, that's what this post is even talking about.

The emboldened lowkey implies that what matters is not to spread false information about Islam - informations that may negatively affect Islam. But one can spread false information for the benefit of Islam & consequently against other belief systems.

Petty traders, yet 99% of electronics used in the entire Lagos was imported by igbos.

Even the phone or laptop you are using to type this rubbish was imported by igbos.

All car parts in Lagos are igbos.

This is the problem, because you guys copy paste each other doing the same business, then you automatically assume you are the only source of whatever the business gives. There are several Yoruba & Hausa who import electronic gadgets, they just not littering the entire space replicating each other's style. Also, a good number of people prefer to buy directly from overseas.

Nonetheless, how many of these your copy paste out of idea redundant business owjers are captured in Lagod tax system?

Why have you failed to develop Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo and Ogun to Lagos standard? Are they not Yoruba States? Is it not idiotic if you promote Lagos land as Yoruba heritage and wealth but sees Niger Delta Resources as God's gift to all Nigerians. You want Igbos you fought to share same country with to vote your preferred candidate just because its LAGOS, where in the world does that happen?

The only parts of Lagos state that are developed are Victoria Island & Ikoyi. Why? Because it was the seat of colonial settlement and later, capital of Nigeria.

Ikorodu, Epe, Ikeja/mainland were all part of Western Region & they were developed by cocoa money under Baba Awolowo [I know that name haunts you cheesy].

Now, while Ikoyi/VI were being developed as FCT. In Oyo state we have Ibadan, yes, the same Ibadan had the first TV & Radio, before other African countries and even France!; the same Ibadan had the first skyscraper in Naija/W. Africa; the same Ibadan became a planner city where several Igbos flocked to for education & jobs. Ibadan rivaled V.I/Ikoyi.

And while Yoruba buil, Ibadan, t a city that other counteies envied & flocked to, the Igbos were not able to build anything. There Azikwe has not one single legacy they can point to.

As per oil, Ondo has oil & so does Lagos now. Abi is Ondo also Delta oil? Matter fact, Ondo produces oil more than the Igbo state with oil so what is your fuzz about?

This is Lagos, a Yorubaland. If you want to be bothered about governance, go back to your state and bother about how it is being governed. You can not come here and tell us what is what, go & do that where you originate from.

Matter of factly, NL is also owned by Yoruba. You may also move to your failed Biafraland website and maybe if will begin to function again. Always forever dependent on Yoruba to hold their hands through life, they are never self-sufficient yet they blow smoke everywhere like they're the best thing since slice bread.

Correct.

These heaux think littering space with 2 by 2 boxes is 'business' & these 2 by 2 boxes earn enough to pay tax. These Igbos are seriously deluded. It is genetic tor their region.

even our vice president prof yemi, have no say in Nigeria, the people he appointed to key position has been removed.
Guy they swear for una ni
Tell u wat, If the igbo's should live Lagos today, if Lagos no cripple my die.

The parts making up Lagos today had existed for centuries & thrived even when the slavers, missionaries & colonialists got here. These parts that make up Lagos have always been bubbling & economically buoyant.

Epe, Badagry, Island were slaving ports that became good exchange & export ports. Ikorodu and Ikeja/mainland were very solid trading points for products from Yoruba hinterlands, farming, cloth making & dying etc.

The first set of Igbos to come to Lagos got there around 1910. Your influx became great after the Jan 1966 coup. You began your nonsense at the time which made Akintola & Bello speak up.

You left in 1967 for years, Lagos did not collapse. You leave annually for Christmas, Lagos did not collapse. You should understand that if you leave today, Lagos will continue to grow like it has been before your 20th century leaf wearing fathers ever got here.
