Welcome back and congrats again. But in your last post you said you'll be back with the concluding part i.e.documentation and passport. Please some of us have been patiently waiting. Thanks Shawbabe: Hello my people,
I am safely back in Naija oh. Operation birth is complete for me, thank God it ended in praise.
Just 3 important tips for first time mums coming back with their infants:
1) Thou should not buy thy infant ticket with American office of thy airline, or thou shall pay $400+ for a one way ticket. Buy thy infant ticket from the naija branch and get someone to pay them in naira for u.
2) Purchase an Infantino baby carrier coz thou shall need it @ the airport, for thy stroller and car seat shall be taken from thee and checked in all the way to naija. So if u don't wanna carry ur baby for hand thru layovers and security, buy one! Or thy hand shall break from carrying baby.
3) Thou should arrive at ur departure airport 3 hours ahead of time to make sure thou gets preference for bassinet. Very important. Also that thous shall not be running to thy gate with yelling baby in thy arms. For thou shall apear like a mad person.
That's it folks! Till next pikin is conceived, thanks for everyone's contribution and for the laugh thru my final weeks of pregnancy oh. Love all of una. |

Diapearl: Hello All, i have been going through this thread for quite sometime and you guys are doing a great job but unfortunately for me i didnt start early enough to aviod the mistake i already made at my visa interview(at 6weeks pregnant, i lied to the VO that i was not pregnant). Please i need help on steps to follow to remedy this as i intend to have my baby in the USA precisely Texas. I am a September mom. Please advice me based on past experiences, whether personal or not. Thank you. I think you should write back to the embassy that you are pregnant and would like to birth in the US, if your visa has already been granted. You might be called in for an interview but you should be ready to defend yourself as to how you didn't realize you were pregnant at the last interview you had. |

LOOOOOOLL!!! This is too funny...5th year and 10th year anniversary. She didn't take the picture she carried u at birth. Congrats to her oluwafunkenny: To God be the Glory. My mother went for visa interview today, she was granted and was told to come back on Tuesday for her passport.
Thanks to good people of this thread for their help and openess, I used most of Sayoberry and Olokings experience to tutor her.
Despite the fact that she carried almost all the documents in the whole house to the place, she was only asked a copy of my visa. She went with my birth certificate, my naming ceremony pix, 1st, 5th and 10th year birthday anniversary pix, convocation, wedding pix, my dad death cert, her retirement docs, statement of acc, doctors correspondences, hotel reservation, my confirmed ticket, and a host of others.
The interview went like this VO- what's your purpose of travelling Mum- To take care of my grandchild VO- where is your child Mum- presently in Nigeria but travelling in april( under contact, I wrote my name and d hotel address with my naija fone no- guessed he checked am still around) VO- what do you do for living Mum- am a retiree VO- where is your husband Mum- late (filled her as a widow) VO-sorry abt that Mum- thanks dear VO- can I have ur daughter copy of visa Mum- handed it to her VO- who is sponsoring your trip Mum- daughter has booked accomodation but am paying for flight VO- Congratulations, pick up your visa on tuesday at Isolo. Mum- thanks
Thanks to everybody, Phema- I dey hail o, my personal person |

Hi, I haven't lived in the UK for 3 years and I'm a citizen by decent. Or am I missing something?? Riz2015: Hi mate, I am british citizen your kid is british by decent regardless of where they born unless citizenship was earned decent, if british citizenship was acquired by decent yo can still apply to register your kids for british nationality if you have lived in UK for 3 years prior to your baby is born outside UK.If born in uk than no registration required.I am in the similar situation in terms of my wife will be giving birth in usa, because they are making it really strict for spouse visa so I thought since she has b1/b2 visa she can travel to usa and my kids will be dual national British American. As a british we don't need visa to come to usa as long as it's less than 90 days you can apply for visa waivier esta which only cost you 14 US dollars which is around 8 pounds.
It would be better once your wife gives birth register your child as british national through registration process, or instead you can apply for right of abode for your kid and apply for passport within UK, it would be easier that way. Kind regards Rizwan British citizenship is not transferable to the 3rd generation if it was obtained from a parent who is a citizen.
However, the child doesn't have any benefit in terms of citizenship, the mother's bills are covered under NHS. The child would have to remain in the UK for a minimum of 10 years or more to obtain his/her citizenship |

[quote author=Trk2013 post=31711443]Hello Oyin, Still wondering how come your British passport isn't transferrable to your kids. Everyone I know with one has transferred to their kids. The condition for some is that the kids must be born in the Uk. I also have friends who do not have a British passport but their kids have because they were born in the UK and have ancestors that were UK citizens. In my opinion it is worth doing further research as your healthcare should be covered since you are a citizen and the service here is usually better. Besides the perks of having a British passport far outweigh the US one. |

90 days is well noted I plan to spend a maximum of 2 months. Thanks once again. lalavita: Yes medical is included. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/visit/visa-waiver-program.html Click the Tourism part to see. It is listed under tourism.
If you choose to go forward with this, you should have your burden of proof for the POE. Doctor's appt, cash/proof of financial capability, overview of cost of treatment etc...
Also be confident and calm + have a good reason why you want to have your child in the states.
Remember, your trip cannot exceed 90 days!
Sure you will be fine though. |

You are a blessing!! Because I didn't see medicals on the visa waiver program site, just business and tourism. All these documents will be presented at the POE, right? lalavita: If you are a UK Citizen, yes you can use ESTA visa waiver for childbirth as medical is listed as one of the accepted uses of the visa. However, unlike B1/B2 visa, ESTA is completely non-extendible so if you end up requiring more than 90 days, you are totally stuck because overstaying on the visa waiver programme makes you automatically ineligible in the future (i.e. you will have to apply for a B1/B2 if you want to visit America in the future)
Short answer: If your trip is 90 days or less, use visa waiver; if you want to stay longer, apply for a B1/B2 - note that in either case, you will still require the necessary documents like evidence of sufficient funds, doctors plans etc... |

Hello people,
kindly help!!!
- Does one with birtitsh passport require a visa for birthing in the US
- This passport is non transferable to children (before some people start asking why not consider the UK for birthing)
- If one requires a visa what is the process like?
- if the visa is not required what is the process like.
Remember that those with the UK passport have a waiver to the US for 90 days maximum without a visa.
Would appreciate your responses. Thank you |
