kaakaa: Thanks dear... will definitely check them out.... but this there style of submitting documents before getting a dr na wa.... there process is not very straightforward cimparted to other hosp.... how are they not straight forward?isn't better to send ur records n dey review to know if they can take you get here.besides if your records are comprehensive enough you wouldn't need to redo them....unless I'm missing something. |

Shawbabe: Of course if u use a lactation consultant, u should expect to pay. I didn't use "extra" services than I paid for, so no extra bill came to me. Lab bills don't come from northside, except they did a test for u there. In my case my obgyn came to northside and delivered my baby. Labs come from ur obgyn during ur prenatal care. So all Northside did was provide bed for me and baby. Nothing extra than the 3550 I paid. Thanks ma'am. |

Pls this question is directed to (ex) Northside hospital mums,Shawbabe.... What other bills were you given after you delivered, other bills like labs and d rest. I hear there's someone that comes in to teach u how to breast feed and they send u a bill...i dont understand.
Can u guys give an estimate of what you paid after the epidural,dr n hospital fees.
I believe I'm speaking for aug/sept mums cc:hotmummy15. Thanks |

sucre26: So this is my experience in the USA, Maryland to be precise. It's a long post, bear with me. Prior to coming, I didn't find out the distance Of the house to the Doctor's office/hospital. I got to Maryland in May and I stayed with my husband's friend and was paying $450 monthly for rent. The house is an hour drive to the hospital. So I spent about $60 weekly transporting myself via taxi/train to see the doctor. I used Dr Chaudry and he quoted $2300 for his bill and $4000 for the hospital, Prince George County. On the 24th of June I was told to go to the hospital by My doc that I was going to have my baby but he told me to go back home that my baby wasn't ready. The following week I got a bill of $1650 from the hospital for false labour. I had my baby girl on the 2nd of July. I used epidural.it all went smoothly all thanks to God. My doc wasn't around, so another doc delivered my baby. I left the hospital the 2nd day cos my baby had jaundice. So She was been monitored for extra hours. So these are my bills as they were sent to the house by the hospital and other agencies $1650 for false labour $816 for Anastasia $2095 for baby $58 for assistant physician $7691 for me $200 professional services for my baby $468 attendance at delivery for baby
Asides from the bills, I've gotten my baby's Nigerian and U.S. Passport. It was quite easy, this thread helped a lot. Thanks to the mommies and daddies. So please for upcoming new mommy's in the house please do your research well before traveling and also consider transportation & distance from where you'll be staying to the hospital. In conclusion if you can avoid Maryland, please do. Their hospitals and doctors are not straight forward. What!!!!! Why bill baby and mum seperately??and u said everything went smoothly and mum still paid 7****. The heck is professional services and 468 for pedestrian? for baby delivery alone. What did u call that hospital again?*wriggling away |

modath: @Ralphlauren,
You do realise you are preaching to the choir
Folks here have weighed their pros & cons & have made their choices...No one(unless with unfettered access to stolen govt funds ) will want to spend 2-3m without doing a proper introspection. ..
This is being done to give the children an option in case the Country refuses to improve (my case & the visaless rntry to 177 countries will not hurt either).. Nothing stops anyone from renouncing citizenship , Tina Turner did not long ago, so whats the fuss? My 2k... Thank you....@Ralphlauren I'm sure ppl have weighed their opinions so coming here and over flogging the issue about taxes....we get it. |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by 0yin: 12:48pm On Jul 21, 2015 |
Ralphlauren: Google it ma'am
However, this link before provides an overview.
http://www.fatca.hsbc.com/frequently-asked-questions
In summary, a "US person" is liable to pay tax on accounts/earnings obtained outside the US.
So for example, a individual living and working in UK with british citizenship will be expected to pay tax to both the UK and US government. (basically, double taxation). Now, certain countries have agreed to be part of the FATCA agreement.
http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/tax-policy/treaties/Pages/FATCA-Archive.aspx
Now what makes it even more interesting is that almost all (if not all) the global banks are taking this FATCA issue seriously. No bank wants to lose their US banking license or get fined by the US authorities.
So it's no surprise why the US embassies are suddenly very busy/generous in dishing out visas to foreign nationals to have their kids in the US (they were never this generous in the past. As a matter of fact, you are almost guaranteed of a refusal if at the visa interview you declare your intention of having a child in the US). It's all about the $$$$$$$ (taxes) that these kids will bring into the coffers of IRS in future. And trust me, double taxation ain't fun I guess this applies to all mums here as their kids would get taxed in nigeria as well as the us. I dont plan to apply for uk citizenship for my child. |

Ralphlauren: I dey kampe. Thanks for asking. How's your hubby and son?
Why I follow this thread, I don't know
I'm baffled on why mothers with EU passport still fly over to the US to have kids.
Cc: 0yin and Riz2015
Una never hear of FATCA?
The US/UK/EU dual nationality is no longer attractive these days. Please educate us on this'facta' |

queenestty: Northside hospital, atlanta Like Shawbabe mentioned earlier, you might not get any appointment with an obgyn till you send in your medical reports. I suggest you get in contact with one affiliated to Northside, then you can print out you email convos with them for you to hold for POE. In the mail, they'll mention how much you are expected to pay, schedule you for an appointment (they'll ask when you are getting into town, so it should be around then) upon review of your records from Nigeria. You can contact Judy Furbish (North Atlanta Obgyn Patient Care coordinator) 770-752-0824 ext 5101. |

just checking , Did you travel to US for your childbirth and how did it go? i am on a german passport but currently live in uk. am also planing to travel to have my baby in US. can you please share you experience at the poe and all that.
well appreciated Hello, I've not traveled yet but I plan to use ESTA, visa waiver issh. I guess you are also entitled to it f you have a German passport. But ensure you have to go through the same scrutiny as others ie, hospital and Drs correspondence, some of of cash payment and all. Plus your maximum period of stay on this visa waiver is 90 days not the regular 6 months, so you can plan your trip accordingly. I'll sure my POE when I get there. |
