Nigerian boxer Akanji Muideen looked pitiable Saturday night as he was beaten by Irish man O’Neill Darren in a boxing event of the on-going Olympic Games in London. The Nigerian lost 15-6 points.
“Right from the moment he stepped into the boxing ring, Muideen’s movement on the canvass was suspect and so were his punches,” Tony Ubani, a Press Attache to the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, told P.M.News Sports.
It was gathered that Darren showed more determination and vitality with sharper reflexes that scored points against the Nigerian.
“Muideen, who looked a shadow of himself could not deliver the sucker punches that had become his hallmark.”
Ubani further hinted that on many occasions, Muideen ran into trouble and could not waive off the jabs from which his opponent gained points
