chipmunkey: According to him, Nigerian governors should take a cue from this ingenious creature. Rather than wait for the leaves to fall, it has used it initiative to achieve its objectives. Rather than our governors to request for more oil money from the 'Federal Government', they should like Governor Raji Fashola, use their initiative to develop what they have within their states. That is the True Meaning of Federalism. PU.

No wonder he was trounced in his ward, local government and state elections - ye ye de boom.
You sound like another goat, what pat is saying is, "resource control" and he called them to task, did used fashola as a model, what's wrong in that?
Sorry, with people like you in Nigeria, the country is doomed.

And again I want u to kw that lagos truly makes more money buh with more problems. U need to kw how over-population is affecting lagos state in every sector. Every state should be given the autonomy to manage it's resources within it's territory and then remit a certain percent to the center.

osajojo: I have always said our state governors are nigeria"s problem.they r tifs and have no clue as regards improving the lives of their own people. Imagine pple in delta complaining of goodluck where their real problem is uduaghan. If our govnors sit tight the much await development will arrive faster.

I AGREE TOTALLY blooda, most of these Govs have no the smallest clue on Ђδω to govern the state they head. They only want to be there as Mr famous aπϑ travel all around the globe, explore every continent aπϑ frolic with shiny galz aπϑ know Ђδω to enrich emselfs with Ʈђε̲̣ national cake. It is high time Nigerians start asking our Governors questions too how they perform aπϑ then to our Retardeen zooligist.

The fact still remains that is not when you have all the degrees in this world that makes you thick in any way . He has been a beneficiary to past government in first or second republic. How did he manage and run the motor company in the 80's? Though one could like the way pat utomi talk at times but there aare times ur criticism should be balanced. If he is their shoes he can't move an inch .
We need an orientation whereby people elected to offices are for service and not to loot . No punitive lawa to bring people to book . You have persona vendetta and all sort of grandstanding in their inner caucus. How will they move the nation forward ? Nothing seems to be working . Walk the talk should be the 1 point agenda not even many agendas.

Beaf: Very nice one from Pat Utomi.

I have always asked when Nigerians will learn to question their governors and LG bosses. Most people are happy, so long as awuf flows from Abuja, but no successful country is run that way. Instead, the Nigerian system of largesse from above and laziness from below is the road to ruin and perdition.

It is in the interest of every Nigerian, young and old, to know the duties and responsibilities of their LG and state govts. Your state is meant to provide the frameworks and enabling environment for local business and industry to flourish. It is your governors duty and surely not that of the FG to develop your state, provide health services, education, employment etc. These things are not for the FG to do; you cannot give a man a wife (Abuja monthly awuf) and be expected to do the deed in the darkness, because the man is inept about how babies are born.

Take a cue from the US and see how successful states have grabbed various nitches; Florida (tourism, industry, aerospace etc), Nevada (Las Vegas casino's etc), California (Hollywood, Silicon Valley - home of Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook etc... Nuff said). These states were built into the powerhouses that they are through the foresight of creative governors and county bosses who pulled the right plugs and pushed the right levers to enable their people, both financially, socially and intellectually.
...Here in Nigeria? Last I heard, our governors were engaged in a desperate search for how to get even more of the enslaving Abuja awuf per month. It is depressing. embarassed

As far as I know, these are the working governors in Nigeria:

1. Akpabio
2. Okorotcha
3. Chime
4. Amaechi
5. Sule Lamido
6. Fashola
7. Oshiomole

I think we might be adding Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa from the way things are going.
i dont agree with you completely.the american system of federalism might not work in nigeria.you need to take into account the fact that america isnt just a country, its a union.different states joined the union at different times but for the same purpose,to repel the british.these states already existed independently before the formation of the union and based on the agreements, were to continue to exist independently.even the states that were added later either through purchase or otherwise continued in that same manner.nigeria doesnt have foundation.states didnt come together, rather states were arbitrarily formed.i support true fiscal federalism but the reality is that if we choose to implement it ,many states will go bankrupt

It's so funny how you expect people to question their Gov and LG bosses, but when we question our president and his cabals, it's another story.

I don't think Beaf or anyone has ever advocated you don't question the president. There is a big difference between questioning and being insulting, partisan, tribal and trying to bring him down. You have a right to question the president and as a good citizen, you should. But coming on a public forum to insult his person and tribe is not the same thing as questioning or demanding good governance. If you look back, you would even notice this trend started from the day he won the 2011 election so it had nothing to do with his performance. It was purely hatred and the quest for power.
